How are so many people pulling this off? I'm talking about reading the news without reading the news. It's amazing. They clearly read the news because they know it's a girl called Blue, yet they still say it's Kitana. Baffling.
If Blue is an original character (and I believe she is), there's nothing wrong with that. If there's no character in the MK universe that fits the profile of the character they want to use, why not make an original one?
Say if Blue is Stryker's love interest or something. Why call her Kitana or Kira or whatever, if it the characters have no simmilarities other than gender?

She looks soooo like Lara Croft in that new pic of her.

Fixed that.
Blue is a new character.
As for her being a "realistic" kitana? No. The series is NOT doing what REBIRTH did. Look at all the info and put it together. More like the games.

Just because the director says it isn't Kitana doesn't mean it still couldn't be her. When thinking about the history of lies and jokes that are attached to Mortal Kombat reveals, it could still turn out to actually be Kitana. It's just a theory though.
If it isn't Kitana, then I'll be rather disappointed. None of the non-canon characters that's appeared in any MK media (not the games, obviously) have been rather lame in my opinion and why add more characters when there is already a grand roster to choose from who actually has a place in the storyline?
In the original Mortal Kombat movie, we got Art Lean who was just an excuse of a character to be killed off in the only fight we saw him in which was against Goro. I found absolutely nothing interesting about him at all. He was just a filler character. And I dislike filler characters.
If it really turns out that this "Blue" is not Kitana, as the director said, then I'll be disappointed that they still tend to put in filler characters into an MK movie/series...

It would be cool if that was frost. I just hope that's it's actually a character from Mortal Kombat. I don't want to see a made-up character with a big role in the movie.

It's not impossible as long there are good screenwriters to do it. That you don't think it's possible doesn't really prove anything other than you are being pessimistic. But that's nothing new...

You can't have just game characters. If these are episodes that are meant to delve into character history etc, how can you show their past interactions etc without made up characters?
For example, I know this chick is probably not her, but say the character Blue is Scorpion's dead wife (Again, I know that other chick probably is). His wife has never been canon so far as I know, so how can we show her without making someone up?
What about Sonya's dead partner that's part of the iffy Sonya V Kano canon.
Etc etc.
What is wrong with her being an entrely new character? What better way to find out something new about the estalished characters than making them interact with a new character?
We've seen the the main Kast and storylines rehashed ad nauseum, I welcome a spark or originalty with open arms. I am facinated by this "Blue," and also by people still believing she is Kitana when that has been expressly stated as false. If she turns out to be Frost, then fine, but I'd honestly prefer a brand new character.
Perhaps this is a first glimpse of a pre-cybernetic Frost. Perhaps something else. I'm interested.

Scorpion's dead wife and Sonya's dead partner are canon characters. They are mentioned in the MK storyline. I think you have me understood here. It's the whole new made-up characters that has absolutely nothing to do with the canon story I dislike. If they are random bystanders with no names, or people who represent a minor role who does not interfere with the main story, then I have no problem with them. But I don't want them to make up new characters to star the film.
See it like this...
Would you rather have a Mortal Kombat game with an all MK roster, or would you have a game where Kratos or an all new character to replace an already known MK character who will then be excluded from the game?

Tancharoen literally said the exact words "Blue is not Kitana."
Besides, the girl in that picture has blonde hair.

It looks light brown to me. Perhaps that's just because of the lighting though.
She would have been a nice Kitana though.

I don't know about all this "can't" stuff, with regards to doing ten seven minute episodes that use only the characters from the games, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with introducing a new character to fill a void. I refuse to believe any objector would rather see an arbitrary character sacrifice one of the names of the series. That's one of the biggest pitfalls of the genre, so far.
I think it's safe to say, based on appearances and the denial of the director, that this is not Kitana. KItana, Mileena, Sindel are all confirmed to be in the series. We've got a stack of actresses to choose from, with the potential of unknowns (we don't know who's playing Sub-Zero yet). It's not Kitana.

Not a bad theory, I'd say.

@ Mick Lucifer: Thanks and to further enforce your point here's a tweet from earlier this week: https://twitter.com/allisa_s/status/40847513682587648
That's from the webseries' costume designer and an Earlier tweet from VancouverDP(the cinematographer) confirmed that Edenia would exist.
But my senses tell me that Blue might be a minor Lin Kuei member based on the blue blood on her hands.(Just a theory of mine that cryomancers could possibly have blue blood.)

I don't know, she doesn't look ethnic enough to play Kitana, to me. Kitana is usually portrayed by a hispanic woman, this actress kinda looks like a Betty Sue. It's Christie Monteiro all over again lol.

I'm thinking that since Beatrice King is paying Sindel(whom was confirmed by the Vancouver Acting School she works at) and she's mixed Asian...Kitana and Mileena will probably follow suit.

idk, looks like Frost w/o a mask to me. They know Kitana's hair is bot blond. They also know, we will break down every little thing about every character. I think it's Frost without a hair cut and the mask.

While there are a few good bits, MK's lore is riddled with cheesiness, poor judgments, retcons, and over-all laziness in storytelling. I'm just gonna say this once and then run away quickly:
If screwing "canon" = Superior Story, then Screw Canon!
