I like to do one of these well before each games' release. They turn out okay sometimes... and some of the stuff we put in here might influence the game by release. Never know.... Which is really cool because we can be a bunch of whiny a-holes from time to time. lol anyway...

1.) Pick a character... or more.

2a.) It looks like a reboot of MK1-3T right now so, what do you expect to happen to your character(s)' story?
2b.) If you wanna deny the little bit of evidence that is here, that points to a reboot, then what do you want to see from that character in a sequel type situation? (short versions please)

3.) What kind of moves//fatalities do you wanna see? Could be something old, or something you make up on the spot.

4.) Alternate Costume(s)?

5.) Extra stuff like stances, victory poses, and all that stuff.

1) I choose you Pika... um... Smoke.

2a) Smoke is portrayed as a "stealth" character, at least informally, so I want to see that come into play. If MK8 is a loyal remake, I wanna see the dynamic within Subzero and Smoke's friendship. Was it a very formal comradeship where they weren't quite buddies but they shared a mutual respect, or was it a Legolas/Gimili relationship where their friendship was warm but competitive. They were assassins, so I doubt the latter, but it would but fun to see them take that direction. I'd also like to see Subzero's reaction to Smoke's automation. Would he feel angry? Guilty? Mortified?

2b) if it's a continuation, then I wanna see Smoke CONSCIOUS! As far as I'm concerned, the clock struck twelve on that moment a long fucking time ago. If he's nano-technology (and self-aware again), then he could hypothetically take any appearance he wants, so I would like to see both human and cybernetic forms IN GAME with each form having different fighting styles.

As for his psychological condition, he needs to be spiritually broken. I don't mean unstable or psychotic, but just suffering from severe self-esteem issues. As I always said before, Smoke is a rape victim in every sense of the word. He's been seized, transformed, and used to fight on someone else's agenda... twice. That's gotta sting.

And again, get Subzero back in the picture. I want to see a real fucking reunion already! Half the reason Smoke is so popular is because of his ties to Sub and the Lin Kuei.

3) Starting with the newer moves:

- Tornado: Think Ermac's telekinetic slam, only instead of the slam, Smoke launches himself into the whirlwind, rides up it, and upward kicks his opponent into oblivion.
- Stinky Fingers (revised): instead of a stun move, Smoke teleports in front of you and punches you... in the FACE! (seriously, no more stun moves than Sub/Scorp's. Bread-&-Butter combos should be earned).
- Play Dead: one of the coolest teleports in MKA. The coffin drop animation is a fucking must. Loved mindfucking people with this move.
- Smokey Cut: people tend to credit this as Sektor's signature move, but the fact is he didn't have it any earlier than Smoke. They both debuted in the same game. Human or Robot, Smoke should turn to smoke and re-manifest behind his opponent as always.
- Robot Arm: good, but make it more Smoke-ish in the animation.

Fatalities 1: Smoke raises up his opponent in a whirlwind of smoke, pull out of bag of sharp blades, throws it into the whirlwind, and the opponent gets sliced up in the process.

Fatality 2: Smoke vanishes. His opponent looks around confused, then suddenly a tri-bladed spear comes down from above, impales opponent, then drags him up off screen. Simple and clean.

4) Human and cyber costumes should come into play. I would like to see the nano-technology in both of them (if continuation).

5) Smoke is the tragic victim of the MK series. I want to see that reflected in everything he does.

1.) Sindel

2.) No really concerned with her story. she just needs to be in the damn game.

3.)
Fireball
Double Fireball
Hair grab
Scream
Flight stance
Air Fireball
Something new

Those were her special moves. What she and every character needs is their commands to be unique in an essence. Like if sindel were to jab, then her hair would wrap around her arm and the second move of that string could be like her hair poking the opponent's eyes. Get it?

4.) Doesn't matter. But something reminiscent of her classic outfits you know?
an alternate outfit could be something that SCREAMS royalty/aristocracy. (no pun intended)

5.) I feel like Sindel needs an entire move set in the middle of the air. A sub-list if you will where combos only connect when the opponent is launched. When the opponent is grounded only certain moves would hit. Obvious things include Sindel being unable to block in this stance, but able to avoid all lows.

I have read everything in here and I gotta say....Wow, I may have to sig this thread for a bit. Or at least link it in the Future Ideas thread. Really good stuff in here.

Another:

1.) Kai (hey...don't you dare knock him...lol)

2a.) Kai doesn't have much of anything for story really. He's a former White Lotus Society member, He was trained up by "master throughout Asia", and is good buds with Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Making him an inferred "brother to them as Shaolin Monks." Raiden gave Kai his staff at the end of MK4, and they really didn't do much with him during MKA. That's pretty much it....really.

His MKA ending was interesting, but that's not canon. However....I think they gave Kai some character with that ending, possibly without even knowing it.

So if this is a reboot, I'd like them to make Kai into a "seeer", or oracle-type // motivated by his dreams and so on. I don't think he should carry on as some sort of fortune teller, but having an awareness about things because of all the meditating and roaming the world this guy does, makes some sense to me.

If they do something like this, I'd like them to also fill in the blanks and give us a full background for him, finally. My recommendation would be to make it inherent that he ended up being such a formidable fighter through wherever the hell he's from.

Now, to be honest, I like that Kai is black, and that he escapes all the stupid stereotypes. I'd need for them to keep it that way please, I don't wanna see a chain, not one hip-hop reference, don't even go there with too many damn capoeira moves... ect. Nothing like that around this character because when it's NOT there, it allows me to just like Kai for the character he is. Which is similar to how I feel about Zasalamel from SC4 btw. He's just a cool character because they made him a cool character with a cool story, cool moves, cool look..ect. Cool?

So then, let's say he's from a small village in Africa somewhere, where every so many years, the coming of a first born son of one of the families in the group is "blessed" by their particular god (30-40yrs in advance to him being born) or something. Now, say for instance that God was killed in MK: Sub-Zero Mythologies.... and for the sake of specifying things sensibly, say that their particular God was the Earth God. Africa = Earth God, fit? So, I'd go, some 30-40yrs ago (long before Kai was even born), Kai was chosen to be the avatar for the now fallen Earth God, by that Earth God, before Sub-Zero "killed" the Earth God over the whole Amulet debacle.

That could explain Kai's tiger stripes, and his wandering around the earth, "searching for his soul" and all that goofiness. He has the markings because it's symbolic to his tribe, village or whatever (you saw the movie Shakazulu, right?). And he has these dreams that guide him, but he can't figure any of them out, and the last part he actually got right, was to get really freakin good with martial arts. He joined the White Lotus on that merit, and left when the influence from the Earth God wore off, long after the Earth God had been killed. However, he still retains his martial arts skills and good will so...enter his involvement in MK4's events. And by the end of MK4, he doesn't even have a desire to actively protect Earth anymore.

Come MKA, I'd like to think he'd heard about Liu Kangs death, and ended up mixed in with the good guys again because it was such a big event. I would imagine that by this point, he'd stopped having those dreams, and he was just living his life as a great martial artist. His backstory for purposes of pre-MKA, could be that his village thought that he was the avatar for the Earth God. But since the Earth God was killed and the influence had left Kai, nobody could tell if he was "the one" anymore, and so since he was their strongest male and now, their leader, they really just looked to Kai for leadership since his return from the White Lotus Society.

But here's where things start to change for him going forward from MKA (or, the backstory they could give him specifically for MK9). Just the fact that he was close to all the energy around events of MKA, wakes the dreams in him again. It's been a while, so he doesn't recognize it at first. He just notices that he feels stronger, senses are sharper, moves are more powerful...ect.

So he tries going soul searching again....but it doesn't work like normal. His dreams get extremely vivid, and it almost drives him crazy. Un-til....he realizes what the dreams are telling him to do. Around this point is when he gets his foresight, and indifference (like a god would have). So he starts making choices that are neither for a particular good character, or for a particular bad character. He might start to look a little different...but now, he is officially the avatar for the Earth God. His powers, instead of strictly capoeira moves and whatever magical attacks he's had, you now give him earth//rock//sand stuff (no not sandman..but yea, touch on it).

What's he doing in MK9? Again, if this is a reboot, one of his objectives to re-awaken the fallen Earth God could be attained through winning the contest.

Tah dah.....

At first I thought of Kai as a replacement for Liu Kang (he is younger, and lined up with the good guys already), but I think if we are to truly give these characters some good purpose for being there, we don't want some of them there for simple "1-2-3 and your out!" sorts of purposes. Use what's there, fill in the blanks, and move them forward tastefully.

2b.) If this is not a reboot....pretty much the same deal could apply to Kai because he's such a blank slate. Which, is what they're after with a reboot, right? Do It!

3.) For moves, like I mentioned, you give him earth//rock//sand stuff.

- Stone projectile(s) - Summons a stone from the ground into his hand, and throws it at you. Could be one handed, could be two handed. Depending on how big the stone is, or how fast the attack needs to be. Could also have that variation as different moves that look the same.

- Zulu Flute - This version of Kai has a tribe in his backstory, and possibly some voodooism or dark arts so, he could have a really quick flute/dart move. I'd have him pull out the flute and shoot you in the eye with the dart. "Ahhh!" It just stings for a second, don't worry.

- Cheap-shot - A ground tech move to where if he gets knocked down, he'll fling sand up into your eyes and get back up really quickly. If he does this standing, and you're the one who's down, he'll kick sand on you like two angry Baseball players. Just a bigger puff of smoke.

- Quicksand - a simple leap and slide of his foot produces sand beneath the opponent and trips them up as if they are running forward.

- Stone Me - Does his same pose like he's blocking, but turns into stone. The opponent takes damage from this, and then Kai breaks out of it, or the stones fall off of him. Hint: looks similar to Sub-Zero's ice clone from
MKvsDC.

Fatalities

- Zulu Doom - The screen darkens and Kai runs off screen in a hurry....??..... All of a sudden you hear someone spit a dart. The dart sticks you in the neck, you scream "Ahh!" while you try to grab at the dart and *boom*. Kai walks back on screen, pauses, and just looks at you from the side.
I would have it so that when you get stuck with the dart, you stumble towards us on the screen....you know why. lol

- Stoned to Death - Kai picks up a pebble off the ground and chucks it at you, knocking you out of being dizzy. He turns to walk away from you as you bend over to pick up the pebble and...*splat* A big ass boulder falls from the sky on top of you. Blood everywhere....*your limbs twitch and you drop the pebble*

- Medusa's Son - ??

- God of Earth - ??

4.) For his costumes, I'd just give him some samurai-like pants with the sash hanging off to the side. Black pants, purple sash. Or Black pants, white sash. Low cut hair with the headbad might work, but the braids from MKA are cool too cuz he's older.

For his alternate costumes, draw from Marvel Comics' "The Panther". i know that conflicts with the association MK now has with WB and the DC characters but...wth. The point is stronger designs for his alt's.

5.) Stance could be anything really. As long as it looked like a strong earthy stance i'd be cool with it.

Victory pose - folded arms and a very serious look at the camera.. Maybe he even shakes his head really slowly.

1. Character: Johnny Cage

2a. Story (as a re-boot): Keep it the same for the most part, a disgraced actor trying to use the Mortal Kombat tourney to save his career. Johnny built up the egomaniac routine to compensate for kids making fun of his nerdy tendencies when he was young (since he's a Hollywood actor now, he thinks he should act dumb and clueless for the cameras).

He's gotten so used to being a jerk that it's just grown to be a natural extension of the man.

To add a little depth, maybe add that deep down, Johnny's not a bad guy. He's trying to save his career for a sick relative or something...

...then later reveal Cage only SAYS that to try and get sympathy for easy work and easy cooch.

3. Moves.

Basic moves with lots of flash. Here's the thing...when I say flash, I don't mean "he does this move because it's effective and looks cool", more, "he adds this spin to the move because he THINKS it looks cool".

So you got the Shadow Kick, Green Fireball, and Ball Punch. He should keep those.

He should have a Shadow Punch. Like a dashing punch with a little telegraph. On the plus side it hits like a motherfucker and can knock people down. Pro move?

Remember the Split Uppercut from the 3D games? Keep that but let it be blocked high so he can play a guessing game. Should the other guy block low to protect his baby-making tools, or high to protect his head?

Johnny's a showboater so he should have taunts. At least more than everybody else. They should be goofy enough to be funny, but not enough to make him a complete joke. he's not here to make the other guy smile (unless it's a rictus grin).

4. Finishers

Torso Rip. But let there be a knockdown and struggle first. Then Cage can celebrate by flexing afterwards. FATALITY.

CQK: Cage Quick Kombination. Roundhouse kick to stagger the ugy. Then really hard ball punch that makes the opponent bend down in pain, followed by an elbow to the back of the neck to send him to the ground, then, Cage drives his fist into the base of the skull. FATALITY.

Biggest Fans: Cage is about to finish the guy off, but a bunch of kids run into the arena and start jumping around Cage and cheering. The camera cuts to the other guy coming out of his daze, then cuts back to Cage, who's signing autographs. The other guy rolls his eyes and walks away. FRIENDSHIP...FRIENDSHIP?!

5. Other

Entrance: Struts into the arena, shades in hand. Says "Looks like YOU..."

*puts on shades*

"...are in Mortal Danger." Goes into fight stance.

Win Pose: 1. Makes a lot of punching and kicking motions, saying "You just got CAGED!"

2. Screams a war cry, and punches the ground in the victory. Then he shakes his hand out, saying "Ah, DAMMIT!"

1. Character: Major Jackson Lamont "Jax" Briggs

2. Story (re-boot): In MK vs. DC they got it right when they made him the soft-spoken, laid-back type.

Maybe he should be the smart guy of the Earth group. He's good with machines, so say he went to college, got his master's and all that, but being a big black guy makes it hard for people to see him as anything but the kind of guy who tears shit up. So he enlists in the military to see what he's made of AND to get people off of his back about what he's good for. Eventually he was made a Green Beret (Special Forces)

He's older now. Kinda wise, but mainly just cool.

After that? I guess the basics with him meeting getting Sonya as his right hand man, going on into Outworld and all that. I hope they don't do the metal arms thing though.

3. Moves.

Get rid of the rockets, the gun, all that shit. He's got big metal arms so he should use them. Keep the ground punch move/earthquake, but make him the resident grapple guy.

I know, Zangief is a big dumb piece of shit, but Jax doesn't have to be like him. He strikes me as the guy who doesn't use lots of finesse, just powerslams, backbreakers. Maybe a powerbomb or a wheelbarrow move. Keep his Gotcha Grab too, to help close distance.

No projectile of any kind, he should focus on getting in close.

4. Finishers.

Punch-Out: Jax wouldn't do anything fancy. He'd just wind up, throw a big jab, and DRIVE HIS FIST through the other guy's chest, maybe let them hang there for a bit b/c he doesn't realize his own strength. The other guy looks at him like..."Oh, wow...", then they fall off his fist and hit the ground. FATALITY.

Head Clap move should stay. Instead of just a big CLAP, make it more of a slow crush so we can see brain juices ooze out. FATALITY.

Jax walks over to the other guy, pats him on the back, and says "Maybe next time, son. Here, you could use this." Jax hands him a brochure for the US Army. They both go their separate ways, and the other guy starts to actually read it. FRIENDSHIP...FRIENDSHIP?!

5. Entrance:

Jax just walks in, and says "Well now...this could get interesting." then he assumes the fight stance.

Win poses

1. Jax just folds his arms and shakes his head. "Mmm, mmm, mmm..."

2. Jax is so hyped after the match that he just starts throwing wild punches. when the camera closes up, he punches it so hard that it shatters and the screen goes black.

Blaugh, that'll teach me to be late to a tread where I can go on about Smoke while Temp's actively posting. Suffice it to say I'm in accordance with pretty much everything he said. Smoke needs his soul back; though I do envision the experience as having tainted him...not necessarily to evil, but to the point of healthy paranoia regarding everyone around him.

Well, I did say that a reboot would be the only thing that would make me want to see him again...

1.) Goro

2a.) My guess is that Goro will retain the title of Outworld's reigning champion. But now that the MK team has seen how effective he can be in a heroic light, it's quote possible that this time through the Kuatan prince might walk away from his defeat at Kang's hands not in shame, but in contemplation. If he was capable of loss, how strong is his mighty race, really? Have they been withering under the iron fist of Kahn? Perhaps he may sojourn and come to realize much sooner how badly his race has suffered, how 'cowed' they have become under Kahn, if you will - and not because of any favor the skull-helmed one's showing to any race of Centraurs, either. This might enrage him to the point where he leads open rebellion himself, perhaps against another Shokan who's been misleading the people, keeping them in line under Kahn's direction...someone like Kintaro, who in a new continuity could get a chance to be a real bastard, some sort of pro-Kahn zealot with personality, rather than just another tough face. He could turn to good much sooner, perhaps act as a representative for contact with Earthrealm after Kahn falls.

2b.) Oh, god. Well, if he survived Armageddon, I'd prefer that the Deception twist of him rejoining Kahn were utterly and completely discredited; he did it to get in close to Kahn, find out plans, yada yada, at Kitana's express wishes. Then we can forgive him. Yay?

3.) Moves:

Blast: Just the regular old blast from the hand. He should, like Shang with his skulls, be able to throw up to four, but with more startup time for each added

Upper Quad Blast: Up to four quick shots from each hand at an upward angle. Yes, I am crazy and giving him anti-air. Anti-air that can hit you repeatedly.

What? He's supposed to be insanely powerful!

Roar: A taunt, but in close, perhaps the sonics could knock you back for a split-second of stun without doing any damage.

Chest Thump: Remember this thing? The hammer blows? Eight smashes to your face and chest and dignity in rapid succession? How painful it sounded? I'd have this as a slow-starting but unblockable grab move that takes off a third of your health.

Stomp: Another lost classic that was removed so he could steal Kintaro's teleport. This would be triggered by a quick leap toward the enemy, slightly off the ground. Blockable. Damaging, but not so bad as the Chest Thump.

Counter: The human body has four limbs. Goro has four arms. Do the math. Four possible inputs: QCF and P or K to counter basic kick or punch attacks, respectively, or QCB and P or K to counter lows. A grab of the leg or arm followed by an overhead slam will set them straight...and it can be followed up by the Stomp!

FATALITY 1:

Dismemberment: Goro grabs his enemy by each limb and quickly tears them in half....vertically.

FATALITY 2:

Crush: This is why you need to stay away from him. Goro grabs the enemy in all four arms in a monstrous bear hug and crushes the life from them. Sickening effects apply: Blood vessels bursting, eyes popping from their sockets, etc.

4.) Have him wearing a royal red robe, and maybe shiny chest and shoulder protectors. Possibly an ornamental amulet or sash - I don't see him with a crown, and Shokan aren't big on fashion, as we all know, but something has to show he's royalty. That armor from MKD looked ridiculous.

5.) Extra stuff like stances, victory poses, and all that stuff.

-For the love of god, Goro needs to go back to his goddamn MK1 speed and quit being slow. Kintaro can be the lumbering brute; when I first fought Goro and saw how fast his hands were moving, just standing there, all those years back, waiting for the round to begin, my thoughts were as follows: "OH ****."

-For a victory pose, rather than just flex as he always does, I'd like to see a bit of princely arrogance. Folding his lower arms while resting his upper hands on his hips would be a sight; as he chuckles: we're so used to just seeing him all fist-pumpy in victory, witnessing each set of those arms doing something we all do on a constant basis, adding an element of familiar to the alien would have great visual effect!

-Assuming there were taunts? Knuckle-cracking. Twice. grin

1) Baraka

2a) I would want to see if Baraka had done anything during MK1 as well as MK3. Of course I would like to see his attack on the Shaolin Temple and his meeting with Shao Kahn in cinematic form. We don't really know much about anything else Baraka has done until Gold, and that story was probably not cannon, so I would like to see what exactly happens with Baraka from MK1-MK:D. I would also like to know more about his relationship with Mileena.

2b) Baraka is a pretty popular character in his own right, and has only been in 4 games, 1 which wasn't cannon(MKvsDC). I would imagine though that he would meet his demise after Armageddon, but how exactly...I am unsure. Baraka didn't really have rivals, nor did he have a lot of allies, so it's kinda hard to come up with something decent for him that makes sense. The only thing that springs to mind is having Mileena kill him, but in my opinion that would make Baraka come off looking very weak. I guess the only way to make Baraka something more important upon dying is to have him die to maybe one of the long time heroes: Liu, Johnny, or Kung Lao.

3) Baraka usually has a pretty decent move set, but like some of the other characters out there, he is limited to pretty much strictly offensive moves. Besides the Blade Chop, they are all aggressor moves, but I think each character should at least have something to give them some sort of strategy besides always attacking.

Blade Spark
-This is a trademark of his, and is a decent projectile for him to have. So I think it should stay.

Blade Chop
-This is a defensive move made to be done when an opponent goes on the attack. If timed out correctly it can lead to fantastic results, so I definitely think it should stay.

Blade Spin
-This was in MKT as well as MK:A, and it's where Baraka spins around with his blades out. It's a decent charge move that helps give his offense variety, so it should definitely stay.

Blade Slide(New)
-If you remember in MK2, when Baraka would do a punching atack in the air he would do sort of a dive attack, or at least in a visual way. For this move, Baraka dives on the ground and slides on his stomach with his blades out, so essentially it's a low offensive attack. This could help give Baraka more than simple standing attacks.

Blade Uppercut(New)
-I gave Kano something similar that he had in the old games, and for Baraka it serves the same purpose. He has blades that extend his reach, so why not use those for an uppercut attack? This would do more damage than your standard uppercut, and they add another defensive move for Baraka.

Blade Spikes(New)
-This would be where Baraka shoots a couple of blades into the ground a few feet away from him, and they sit there for a few seconds. These are used as another defensive measure, and they are effective if the opponent jumps onto them. So a good strategy would be to throw them in front of a jumping opponent.

I really think these moves will help give Baraka a better chance in battle, as he has more variety to work with. He now would have 1 projectile, 1 charge, 1 low attack, and 3 defensive attacks that range from close(Blade Chop), sweep(Blade Uppercut), and medium(Blade Spikes) distances. The player who chooses Baraka can have a strategic advantage if he is patient and watches his opponent's moves carefully.

Fatality 1:
-Baraka cuts off his opponent's arms, then sticks one blade in their torso and the other one cuts off each leg. With the 1 blade still in the torso, Baraka uses the other blade to cut off the still screaming opponent's head.

Fatality 2:
-Baraka tackles his opponent and slices their chest and abdomen, and just begins to dig his face into their guts and organs and eat them up in a rabid fashion.

Fatality 3:
-Baraka walks up behind his opponent(who is staring at the screen), and he takes his blade and rams it through their chest, and you just see a beating heart at the end of the blade sticking out from their chest. He pulls it back through and holds it up in the air, as his opponent falls to the ground.

I like these fatalities because they help drive home the thought of Baraka eating his victims after defeating them.

4) I would like to see Baraka's primary as his MK2/MK:A costume with details and enhancements etc. His first alternate could be his one from MKvsDC. His 3rd costume could be a new one, where he is wearing all tattered and torn up bloody cloth.

5)
Entrance: Baraka could be chewing on a piece of flesh or a heart, which would go well given his fatalities indicate that that's how he finishes his victims.

Fighting stance: Have him act like a rabid dog, drooling, snarling, just drive home the demonic blood thirsty creature. His actual stance should be with his arms down and bent like he usually has, and his back should be slightly hunched over.

Victory Pose: Have him sharpen his blades and finish off with his MK2 victory pose.

That's my ideal version of Baraka. A cold, rabid, blood thirsty demon. He isn't the most intelligent, but he does what he can to get the job done. He would have both offensive and defensive strengths, as well as brutal and gruesome fatalities. From the time he steps onto the battle field, 'til the time he steps off, he should be thinking about getting him some flesh and blood(hence the sharpening of his blades at the end).

1. Jax

2. If it's a remake/reboot or even prequel, I wanna see his pre-MK tournament work as an SF agent. Perhaps show him in action in one of his missions in his ending or cut scenes (doesn't matter if it's animation or stills as long as its good).

3. If it's a sequel, I wanna see Maj. Briggs go another direction. Perhaps he could go AWOL and become a soldier for hire for some South American or African banana republic. He gets summons from some emissary to compete in a new MK Tournament after the events of MKDA. This completely ignores MKD's storyline.

4. Moves: the gotcha grab, ground pound...his entire move list from MK 2 except the universals. Perhaps he could adopt Brazilian Jujitsu, grappling and other components of mixed martial arts into his arsenal, I just think Muay Thai is too common a martial art for him, it reminds one too much of Tekken's Bruce or Street Fighter's Sagat. Incorporate his piston punch from MKDA and maybe a disembowelment fatality and he's good to go.

5. Ditch the gangsta outfit. Make his alt the MKDA primary version while I kinda like his look in the Special Forces game, the one with the bandanna and facial hair, make that his primary. They could also make him look like Mr. T in the A-Team television series or the movie version as a bonus costume in addition to the ones mentioned before. Don't make him too buff, make him a bit lean like Subby's and Scorp's body type in MK 2. On second thought, maybe him being buff is okay since that makes the ground pound more realistic. His metal arm coverings in MKDA (well, he's not a cyborg after all, that's ok) is good for him I guess since the one in MK3 and 4 look very generic.

Nice work with Kai, Pred. I always liked Kai and Earth-based characters.
So I've decided to post my old premise for Tremor.

1.) Tremor

2a.) If it's a reboot, they could make Tremor canon and really flesh him out.
Firstly, don't make him Lin Kuei, he could be the last of Stone-based ninja clan that live out in the desert someplace. As the last surviving member of his clan he sets out to gain the honour of his forgotten tribe back and make them known throughout the realms as a great clan.
Tremor would have trained and absorbed much of his clan's powers and techniques, as a living tome of their history, all that was the clan is in him. He has the powers over sand and earth. His body is constantly armoured by rock that he holds to his body with his powers.
He has a simplistic monk lifestyle and this is reflected in his clothing
mostly old clothing he wears because it's all he has. Frayed gi bottoms made of a burlap type material, foot and hand wraps, rope belt, torn up shirt with the sleeves ripped off, opened to reveal his rocky chest and arms.
And a sand repellent turban with face coverings (like MK:D Ermac) but brown.

2b.) I don't know Tremor's story other than he was a disgraced Lin Kuei and left and became a thug in Special Forces

3) His moves would of course would revolve around his ability to control the earth.

Sand Swipe - Tremor sweeps his hand up and sand rises off the ground slashes and blinds whoever it touches. (close range)

Rock Shot - A back handed throw of a rocky plate from his hand, hits the opponent in the chest, a new plate grows back on his hand. (long range)

Quake - Tremor places his hands palms down to the ground, causing shockwaves to radiate from him. (only effective against grounded opponents - Anti-Turtling technique)

Sandy Teleport - Tremor spins like a top, dissolves into sand then appears and reforms behind the opponent.

Rockercut - taken from Sektor, Tremor digs into the ground and pops up from it in front of the opponent to deliver a flying uppercut.

Hovering Plates - Tremor summons more earth to his location, they hover around him and act as barriers. They can also
Plate Boost - He adds the new plates to his body and greatly increases his strength, while sacrificing speed and agility, a new "armour health" gauge appears, as the armour is struck it will break or turn to dust until there is nothing left (health reaches zero)
Plate Shrapnel - Tremor tightly surrounds himself with the plates, balling himself up in the middle, then busts out of them by unballing himself, sending the plates in every direction and causing damage to whatever they touch.

Earthly Columns - In a similar fashion as Shang Tsung's ground fireballs, Tremor has different versions of this attack where he launches the opponent in the air by summoning a column out of the ground.
(pop-up combo starters)

FATALITIES -
Like A Rolling Stone - Tremor starts off far away and begins charging at his opponent, as he runs earth is added to him until he snowballs into the opponent, obliterating when the multi-ton rocky hamster ball hits them.
the ball turns to sand and flies away, leaving Tremor standing there
then he does his victory pose.

Earthly Delights - Tremor places his hands on the ground and turns the ground into quick sand, he stays afloat walking on harded earth he creates as he walks, as the opponent is sinking and there head is above the sand, struggling to escape, Tremor walks toward them and puts his foot on their head and pushes them under, drowning them.

Earth Lover - Tremor transforms the plates on his body to sand and sends them hurling around his body like a swarm of bees, Tremor then grabs his opponent and puts them in a bear hug, and the localised sandstorm begins ripping the opponent apart, peeling their flesh off until there is nothing left except sandblasted bones, Tremor raises the cleansed skull in one hand and raises it like a trophy.

Stone By Stone - Tremor begins dropping bricks around the opponent walling them in, The try to escape but the bricks form too fast, their are tiny spaces between the bricks, Tremor finishes the coccoon with ceiling bricks
then knocks the whole things on its side...he then rises above it on a column then jumps on top it, squishing the person inside and sending gore streaming from the cracks like Play-Doh.

4.) One alt would be a take on the classic ninja outfit.
although closer to MK3 Sub-Zero. Shirtless except the ninja vest..it is made of rock plates there is flakes of dirt all over his body. The ninja gauntlets are also made of earthy material, and the mask/hood is made of rock. the gi bottoms are still present but a black colour, the loincloth is present but is merely a brown cloth material. Shin guards are also rock.

Another one would be save for his bottoms, he would appear to made entirely of sand.

5.) His stance and fighting style would be all about slow yet powerful pushbacks and some grappling and throws. In fact, I'd want his stance to be as still as possible with his palms out to the opponent, in a similar fashion of wrestling.
also instead of blood sand falls out instead.

Victory Poses: a great exhale accompanied by opening his hands and placing them to his sides, then dropping to an indian style sitting position and having his hands on his knees.

Makes an X with his forearms then breaks it to his forearms parallel with the ground...then turns to sand and blows away.

slowly moves his hands palm downward along the ground then places his hands at his sides.

i would like to see subzero have a fatality like he freezes the opponent legs then he make a bat with a spike and continue to hit them with the bat until the body is destroy and then ice them in to a coffin.

i like to see subzero and frost tag team and there move could be frost's slide and then subzero shoulder block when the opponent is in the air.

i would also like them to have the level in mkda for shang tsung where he can throw his opponent in the a soul area and they destroy them, and also a counter would be that shang can get thrown in the the area but it would be different because he is the one that put there soul in the soul pit.

i would also like to see create a level to some kind of extents.

as well as a way to counter or stop your opponent fatality if it is being done to you. you can do a combo or do your fatality but you would still lose the match just to make it more fun.

1. Stryker.

2a. The only thing I liked about him originally was that he was a mere mortal trying to survive and keep order during an invasion from otherworldly warriors. Focus on that and I will be pleased.
2b. Like a mere mortal would survive Armageddon...but if he did, I liked how he became so focused on order and the Lahw that he became pretty ruthless. I imagine him as a kind of military dictator. Not literally, but that kind of style.

3. Liked his tazer in MKA. The Grenades? Get rid of them or make them tear gas, sorta like how someone said Cyrax should have. The Machine gun? Maybe a pistol instead, like Deathstroke in MKvsDCU. He should have a projectile like this, seeing as he's out of his league here (and I agree, take the gun away from Jax). I think he needs more grappling special moves, like how a cop takes down a fleeing fugitive. A grab idea could be him pulling out a nightstick and grabbing the opponent in a headlock with it. Then he brings them down after a brief struggle.

Fatality 1: Police Brutality: Stryker just goes beserk on his oponent, beating him to a pulp, even after he's fallen to the ground. Gets to the point where the head is nothing but a mesh of blood (think what Bruce Willis did in Sin City...just not the taking of the manhood...). This would be good to have that X-ray effect Cage had in the trailer.

Fatality 2: Execution Style: Stryker pulls out his tazer and shocks the opponent until he/she falls to his/her knees. While the oponent is on his/her knees, Stryker walks up with his pistol and places it against his/her head. With a grim look on his face, he pulls the trigger. Blood and brains splatter on the screen.

Friendship (Yeah, why not.): Stryker pulls out a pair of handcuffs and puts his opponents hands behind their back. He kicks them to the ground and walks off saying "I'll pick you up later..." Frienship...well...I guess...

4. I like his alt outfit in MKA, the whole SWAT gear type stuff. A modified version of that would be good. Add stuff like a radio and whatnot to it. An alt could be something similar to his MK3 outfit, but heavily worked on. He just looked kinda silly in MK3, but every cop has a day off here and there.

5. Intro 1: Stryker stands there, listening to his radio. He responds to the other end (presumably asking if he needs back up) by saying "Negative. *looks at opponent* I got this..." Turns off radio and assumes fighting stance.
Intro 2: Stryker approaches the opponent and says "Resisting arrest? *assumes fighting stance* Alright then..."

Victory 1: Stryker turns on his radio and walks away saying "This is Stryker. Situation under control."
Victory 2: Stryker looks around the arena, obviously frustrated with the situation, saying "I need a vacation..."

Fighting stance: Something not particularly stylish, obviously not a shoalin monk or ninja, but with a sense of control. It should be easily noticable that he was trained by the police academy or something to take down people quick and effeciently.

I'd really like a real hardcore Stryker running around cracking mystical heads with homegrown American Police gear.

for me, his default costume would be his MK:A head with an entire SWAT suit.
his alt would include goggles, mask and helmet and his SWAT suit would have more blue in it.

A battering ram attack with a Riot shield, tazers, and tear gas would all be awesome. and some crazy night stick moves.

Stryker really needs a revamping.

That's a positively interesting Stryker by Jed and Mcfreeze right there. It's a Stryker I definitely want to see in the new MKgrin

Agree they should take Jax's machine gun away since MK's a fighting game, not Konami's Contra. I think the Mixed Martial Arts for Jax I suggested earlier for him should go and instead go for something like BigCity's, a wrestling style.

Uuum Wow. "A sort of Back to the Future take on the story...."?

So does this change what you guys would want for whatever character? Or does it keep things relatively the same? Do you just...fix all the plot holes, retcons, what have you? What do you re-create?

I think most of us pretty much know the bulk of what should stay the same. But the funny issue is all the opportunity, and all the liberty that gives the writers.

This thread does pretty much encompass what we might want for the story element so, What would you do for whatever event, or whatever specific character?

I'm shocked..heh

I'm thinking I am probably in the same boat you are Pred. I am shocked, and I don't know if it's a good or bad thing to be honest. I was super excited for this, and still am, but I just got kinda like a nervous feeling or some sort of dibelief in the thought of some of the radical odd changes that could happen. I'm not gonna go as far as some others and automatically assume the shit is gonna hit the fan, and take his statements of certain changes such as tournament winners and automation being changed etc. I guess I really have no choice but to hope and trust Boon and Co. to do a decent job at fixing things that should be fixed and changing certain elements, but not taking away anything or altering anything too drastically. Either way, the fighting portion of the game still looks awesome.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) Nightwolf

2.) Not really sure. I'd like him to become more involved with other characters. Whilst still fighting for his own beliefs. If he were to become a spirit like character I'd appreciate it.

3.) I'd like to see his tomahawk involved in his combos again like MK3. All the others I like.

For his fatalities i'd like to see something similiar to the spiritual teleport from MK3. Except the opponents flesh can slowly melt or burn off the flesh of the opponent. Until the skeleton falls to the ground. Another with multiple hits of the tomahawk would be good too.

4.) Some sort of spirit outfit or animalistic hunting outfit.

5.) I'd like to see his flaming tomahawk victory pose from MK3 return.

1. Smoke

2. I've liked the stuff people have said dealing with his storyline so i'd have to say what they say except since the way i'm hearing it is that the storyline is changed when raiden goes back maybe smoke doesn't go robo at all that'd be sweet and if he still does he goes back at the end.

3.Tornado: Think Ermac's telekinetic slam, only instead of the slam, Smoke launches himself into the whirlwind, rides up it, and upward kicks his opponent into oblivion.

Fatalites: I liked the one i don't remember from which game where he pushes a couple buttons on his arm then looks at the screen then it expands to show the world and it all blows up. That would be cool and if hara-kiris were in it could work both ways

4. I never did like alternates for robos so no alt at all for him except maybe the old ninja costume

5. Nothing for me to say here i just want him in the game

I'm going to use ImmortalKombat's roster idea as a template here.

1. There will be no stances in the game, at least that's what appears to be the case, so that's out.

2. Remove the power bar, seriously none of that Street Fighter "help the noobs out by throwing in easy execute super moves" crap.

3. remove anamalities/babalities never want to see them again

4. Dial-a-combos need to die, I hear they are I hope this is true, same reason as the power bars. Breakers should also be replaced with counters. Again I want a skill based game here.

chars:
-Scorpion
Love the new design, I say allow him to use his spear in new and interesting ways as well as the standard get over here, and maybe add the huge fireballs he was throwing at the statues in the MKDA reveal.
-Sub Zero
Make him original sub-zero, no need for the brother and Ax noob. or at least find a way to kill noob off.
-Raiden
Raiden comes up with a way to remove the dragon king plot entirely, Armageddon is prevented and he is used as a mechanism for fixing all the bad story/fodder characters.
-Kano
Kano should be the younger MK1 model with still some hair left. A hard hitting dirty brawler. my favorite classic design. oh and bring back the head butt.
-Sonya
Sonya Jax and Stryker work for a more plausable employer like a PD or FBI perhaps. the whole SepcForce story line belongs in redneck gun country and should be fixed. The singular case where I think the new film pitch does a better job than the games. Design wise Sonya should be the classic, down to earth variety version. Butch Dyke needs to go.
-Liu Kang
Boon seems to be going in a good direction in not having him win this time. Other than that I really dont have much of an opinion yet with him.
-Johnny Cage
Perfect
-Shang Tsung
Old guy version/young MK2 version. Old guy uses magic and morphing a lot more than young Tsung. Young Tsung doesn't hit a lot but when he does it should be fast and hard and include a lot of stunners. like a kung fu master would use.
-Reptile
Human version/MK4 alt costume version so-far-so-good from videos
-Jax
See Sonya description, Jax needs no metal arms but he can have them I dont care.
-Kitana
No opinion as of yet
-Jade
She should have a staff made out of Jade with a cool artistic design and she should use it A LOT. Really beat the shit out of people with it, and fast too. maybe give her more story relevance.
-Mileena
Looks good so far on all counts.
-Kung Lao
Perfect the way he is so far.
-Baraka
Make him smarter and less of a henchman or Ax his sorry ass. (I like him but all the same meh.)
-Smoke
Cut off smokes move copies of scorpion, give him noobs ninja stars and give him stereotypical ninja vanish teleport. Hes the standard black ninja no robot crap, Cyrax and Sektor are enough.
-Noob Saibot
Extra ninja, KILL HIM OFF FOR GOOD.
-Nightwolf
Looks good so far but could use more unique moves, the arrow is the same as it was in MK3, change it, do something with it.
-Stryker
See Jax/Sonya description, more unique moves NO GUNS FFS. and a better story too. I like him don't kill him.
-Kabal
Probably the best Artistic character design out of all of them IMO. you might have to change his story because of Raiden.
-Sektor
Good so far
-Cyrax
give him better bombs and do something with this guy, not sure what but make him better. the net was awesome but it seems like a scorpion spear thing now.
-Rain
Give him unique water related powers that are completely new and refreshing, and a cool wet rainy background. if you cant do that give him the ax. No lightning powers Raiden already has those covered.
-Ermac
I dont know about Ermac, give him something ethereal to work with, or ax his ass.
-Sheeva (kill her use Goro instead)
There should only be one 4 armed character and that should be Goro, Kill the rest.
-Sindel
her current style is good. I could take her or leave her.

SMOKE:

Being the original timeline fully embraced Smoke's Cyborg form I think it would be cool to have him escape this time and go with the human form. But I'll be fine if they stick with the cyborg if his gameplay is well made.

It would be interesting if they brought his trident harpoon back but changed its effect. One thought is it could function similar to Jarek's lasso: Smoke tossing the caught opponent over his back, slamming them onto the ground, making them bounce into a pop-up combo setup.

It would also be cool to give him that axe he and Scorpion used in their UMK3 combos as part of his basic move attack set or throw.

Stinky Cloud, Stinky Fingers, and Play Dead would all be good returning special moves to give him.

Regardless which Smoke form they use as official I think the other form should be an alt / dlc costume.

REPTILE:

Reptile was a favorite of mine in MK2 and UMK3. But in the later games I kind drifted a way from him since his forceballs were my favorite part of his moves. So I'm delighted they are taking his gameplay back to his roots in this one. About the only things I can add are giving him a fatality based on his appetite and using the MK:SM costume as his alt outfit.

GORO:

I think it would be cool to have Goro as a playable character, filling in the "Zangief" type player of the roster. Kintaro or Motaro could fill in the Sub-Boss role.

SHAO KAHN:

If I had to choose between them making him playable or a well made boss type, I'd chose the latter. I hope his costume is based his older design, not the post MKD (Though the promo video practically confirms the MKD look will be at least one of his in-game outfits at 0:38).

A fun and easy to make DLC release could be the palette swap costumes of all the ninja characters. This would also allow them to focus on highly personafied costumes for them in the core release.

MK1 moveset Reptile, Noob-Smoke, Hornbuckle, and/or Scarlet could all be potential unplayable hidden battle similar to Reptile/Smoke/Jade/Noob in MK1 and 2. Though if there are used they should STAY unplayable and non-cannon, which may be too much of a pain for the dev team due to the likely bombardment of fan demand to flesh them out.
