Based on Razor's summary, I like this new storyline! I appreciate its lack of fear to kill off a few fan favorites

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Kung Lao, Kitana, and Nightwolf all die? Sweet! I can't really see why anyone's mad about that, It's just like killing Liu Kang in Deadly alliance. I don't think three characters is going too far, I mean it's not like we won't see them again (Maybe they'll be zombies!!!!)

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't really care that some of the characters are seen before they were introduced originally. Except Quan Chi, that's kinda messed up.

I also like how Raiden kind of becomes obsessed with his quest. I don't see why everyone says Liu Kang becomes a jerk, he's just not doind everything Raiden says because he's going mad. Seriously, he's going to hell and pretty much says he'll do anything for help... ANYTHING!

I'm really glad they have good dialogue in this game (I'll Take Razor's word for it.)


But there's some things I'm not so sure about.

How much good could really come out of Sub-Zero becoming a cyborg, besides that one fight with noob. I won't mind if he can totally reverse his condition and become a ninja again, but what would be the point? But I guess you guys asked for it, and I guess it could be a joke that they purposely programed into the demo.

A few of the good guys die, but come on, NONE of the bad guys die? Not Baraka, not Mileena, not Reptile? I especially wanted Quan Chi to die, but hey, maybe next time. (2015, probably sad

Come on, what's the deal with Quan Chi being involved in the tournamnets? I'd have rather had Quan Chi be totally retconed as a character all together than have that! It makes no sence at all!

The ending. EVERYTHING about armageddon could have been prevented if Shao Kahn won? Seriously? Maybe it would have helped if the Elder gods told Raiden "Just let Shao Kahn win and we'll come punish him." the first time! I'm not sure about this. I like that Liu Kang and Raiden sort of go their seperate ways. Maybe they can team up again, but I'm honestly not thinking of the next game now, I'll enjoy this one. I don't know about the ending, I'll have to wait and see.


All in all, I think this story will succeed, and along with the awesome gameplay and brilliant roster, it will be the best Moral Kombat to date! Seriously!

Fucking HILARIOUS! It's nice to be proved right when I said the MK team would do a "Star Trek 2009" on us- promise a soft-reboot by using the old history as a jumping off point, then CHANGE THE BACKSTORY ANYWAY.

An epic-ly awful storyline, and the artistic sterility that is Mortal Kombat's creativity continues full steam. Laughable...in just how BAD the people making (everything NOT to do with the actual fighting) in this game have become. Honestly, you couldn't parody it.

Killing Liu Kang in Deadly Alliance didn't negate everything that the character(s) and story had done to that point. If we were moving forward and contributing to a more developed and interesting direction, it would be much less insulting, I'm sure. The situation we've got now is either a subtraction without benefit, or a waste of our time.

Yes, he wins two.
And I wouldn't say he's dead yet, in fact, he probably has the best chance (better than the other 3)

By "You killed us all." He could mean "You've just doomed the Earth. Asshole." not "You killed everyone, including me." They could also leave his fate unknown for awhile like the guy from saw.

Star Trek 2009 breathed new life in a (after multiple decades) convoluted mess of a series. It was critically acclaimed and many fans, including me, loved it. It allowed people who never would have watched Star Trek to pick up from a new beginning.

I don't think that's a good example to use if you're trying to prove MK9's awfulness.

I don't know how anything about that example relates to MK9. It absolutely supports how awful it is! The new game achieves nothing like that.

"Star trek 2009" was conceived as a "soft reboot" for the series. Rather than build everything from the ground up, they included a character from old continuity- Spock "Prime"- in a time travel story to make it clear the original version had still happened. Yet they still changed bits of canon around that SHOULD'T logically have been changed- because it was before the timeline was altered.

Exactly the same as MK 2011; rather than Spock we get Raiden's visions. Yet Nightwolf is in the MK1 tournament, and there are many other changes BEFORE Raiden's fucks things up.

While I don't hold high expectations, It wouldnt surprise me if this is half of the story mode, they said it was like 3 times the size of mkdc but both have about 15 chapters, so an evil side i believe is still possible. That being said theres only dialogue no action script so far

If these spoilers are true I guess that means Kratos is in the story mode. Why else would he have a bio and ending?

The only issue I have is the Challenge Tower reward. It better not just be an alternate for ONE character that I'll never use. I find that to be just outright stupid.

That's because actions won't pop up on the game as subtitles like speech will

The endings are for the Kombat Ladder.

The endings are those you get from completeing Arcade Mode, not Story Mode. Kratos is not part of the Story Mode.

Ok thanks for the heads up guys.

I'm still hoping that there's more to the Challenge Tower reward. A Mileena with even less cloths is just stupid IMO.

Yes and no, it starts with Armageddon, but stays in the MK1-3 timeline after that

By the dialogue, it seems pretty obvious that there is a third person there watching the fight going on and I think that is the person who says "You killed us all," but we can't know for sure until the game comes out.

I think that the dialogue is pretty good for the story mode and I am not as outraged as some over the changes that were made. Sub-Zero is my favorite character and Smoke is my second favorite character so that is disappointing with what happened to Sub-Zero, but he probably will be back to normal for the next game if there is a significat backlash from the fans against it. At least Smoke gets to stay as a human though. The thing that bothers me is how certain characters motivations for doing things and bios were changed and I am not too fond of that.

I have no problem with Nightwolf, Kitana, and Kung Lao dying, but I don't like the fact that they will probably just come back as lackeys for Quan Chi and then have to be rescued. It just seems like a re-hash of Deception and I hope that is not the case.

I did not like the way that Motaro was handled with it just being mentioned in passing how he was killed by Raiden. That was a cop out in my opinion. I did not expect to see him in the game as a sub-boss because it would have taken extra time to get the moves for each character to work against him and vice versa, but there should be a cutscene where Raiden kills him instead of just a quick mention of it happening.

I know that Raiden is basically going mad during the story since he just makes things worse, but he just comes off as stupid. If he knew about the loophole the entire time with the merging of the realms without winning Mortal Kombat, then why didn't he just let Shao Kahn win way back when. The amulet that Raiden has still has not healed so Armageddon is still on the way and nothing has changed yet so I guess we will find out what happens in the next game when MK 4 is re-done.
