The first thing that would make the next MK awesome would be a team-based RPG mode, because I'll admit that Konquest isn't all that great.sad

The RPG would work like this:

You choose which side you're on, and then depending on whatever side you joined there is a selection of characters. You then make a team of four fighters of your choice. Once the actual campaign starts, the main game-play would be like Final fantasy, with RPG battles and upgrades for each party member, occasionally going into fighting or maybe Konquest. Also, the team-based campaign would have up to four-person co-op. Oh man, I want that game now. grin

Another thing I didn't enjoy about Armageddon was the fact that there were just a few courses that didn't maintain the style of MK, or that just sucked. So maybe they could revive the old maps.

Here's something fun also. Something bad about MKA was the fact that you couldn't play versus as your custom fighter against your friend's custom fighter.

Also, it could feature the "class" system that they would originally have for Kreate a Fighter that was canceled. wow

Nice thread, Pred.

I've made this from combined ideas of ThePredator151, Sub_Zero_7th and friends, VainQueur, and Mostly Me. Sorry all of those who said " You copied me, jerk!" I didn't go through the whole archive of threads, I just looked at the first few. So we probably just had the same ideas. All right here we go.

There should be # games that should come out that the MK team should create.
1. Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Scorpion
2. Mortal Kombat Mythologies/Origins(just in case they want to change the name): Kung Lao
3. MK vs. SF ( It can be posible to do a Trilogy for this, I'm just saying).

These can be good games wow furious

I'm not sure if it's been suggested, but basically, Midway pay BioWare a lot of money to save Mortal Kombat's story by creating an Action RPG (they proved they could do it with Jade Empire), where you play as a seemingly new character, doing good or evil deeds, building up a group (who have their own origins, stories, twists and abilities), and maybe meet a character from the known games or two.

You can learn fighting styles; learn special moves; develop some Fatalities, Brutalities, etc.; maybe even discover your "Animality."

Handing the series off to BioWare -- who the the kings of video game stories, in my opinion -- would restore what I really love about Mortal Kombat, the story, back to a state of high honor. And the gameplay would be top-notch for what it was. BioWare is also talented enough to have the story somehow loop and change the way we think about the games we already have -- I am sure of it. It would also give the MK Team a starting spot for their new story, and characters they can't fuck up.

From this thread: HERE

- I want it to feel like I actually "went somewhere" when I get online. Make it so that it seems more "world-wide web". Think of the Matrix, only in how once Neo gets plugged in to the Matrix, the world is actually...the world. The movie opens up quite a bit from it seeming like they're trapped on that ship that they're on once he's in the Matrix. I don't mean complicate it more, I mean..."Open to Explore for Real Reason". And things to do, and options to exploit should be there. Couple modes for the player that plays for gameplay, couple for people that play for story, couple there for character whores (sry, lack of a better word)...ect

But, I like that playing online gives us the ability to play against folks from other cities, states, and countries. I think they should create something that makes it feel that way more just from going online. Simple aesthetic upgrade seems appropriate.

Another thing I liked was how the MKvsDc website functioned. I think that would be a good start. Scroll left//right//up//down....things roll left//right//up//down. Dojo doors maybe open and shut...something. NOT just "go in a room"....its too boring right now. Nothing is there to keep people interested besides talking shit.
========================

- For modes and stuff, there's plenty. So here's just one:

Scavenger Hunt // King of the Hill - We actually "kill eachother" trying to get whatever the prize is. I wouldn't set it up to where people "go into a match" (that'd get annoying fast). I'd have it more like these latest Call of Duty games where you're running through a map, but MK's comes to an End.

- Time clock is an option, but in particular, I like the idea of maybe having the prize hop around the map after some good time passes(5-10min?). For instance, I take Sub-Zero in, I fight off all these people, and when I get close to a "beacon" where the prize is...the damn thing moves away from that spot. Frustrating if I could see the prize, but didn't get there in time. But very gratifying if I am an excellent strategist and was able to get the prize in time.

- Fatalities could happen like in MkSm, or in MkA's Konquest modes. Little easy ones, and the consequence for the victim is re-spawning away from the prize beacon. We'd have to perform some easy combo, or fill up a bar like in MkSm or MkA first, in order to be able to perform a fatality. Nothing too difficult because the thought is that we'd be doing fatalities and stuff over and over in this mode. Fatalities should be really impressive though. No brutality stuff for this mode because you'd have to kill your opponent.

- The prize should never transport to, or close to a re-spawn location because there should only really be one re-spawn site. Why that seems fun to me, is because you'll have people wacking the crap out of each other, right around the re-spawn point so that they can get an early advantage. Maybe everyone starts at the bottom of a mountain, or in a hut//bar or something...idk.

Only exception to this, is when teams are involved. In that case, two re-spawn locations are necessary, and would make it feel a lot like playing through MKA's opening video. One member on the team that gets the prize wins the map for the team and they all reap the benefits.

Rewards could be:

- The Prize. Which is anything general like, a big chess of money, a crapload of experience points, power or rank upgrades (your characters stats make your character stronger), "everybody gets a new skill or special power (more moves for you to integrate into your fav or created character, or just another special power that you didn't know say Scorpion was capable of)....whatever.

Point is, the reward needs to make people desperately want them, and once we get to the point where we have most of the stuff that there is to get....then try to get the "highest score", or try to be the "highest ranking member on the team", or maybe by then, you're just playing to find the secret character in the game that's responsible for moving the damn prize around all this time. Never know. You might have to be of a certain stature, in order to be able to search for that secret character.

i.e., your character has to be able to withstand idk, immense heat, have the amphibian badge, and have to have the badge for 50 fatalities performed or something. Whatever....

- How many fatalities you performed. Really, this is just a badge or something to prove that you are a player that can, and has done a crapload of fatalities on other players. I don't think of this like a badge of honor, but more like a battle scar.

- Number of fights won w/o fatalities. Tougher, and should take you longer to achieve since doing a fatality would be the easy//quicker route but, the more fights you win w/o a fatality, the greater your personal points. Or whatever.

- No fights fought, no fatalities done, but you got the prize anyway. "Flawless Victory". Might be the greatest reward you could win.

- There should be "levels" for all of these: "Superb, Excellent,.....Pathetic"...ect Between 0-100pts = Pathetic......but between 50,000 and up = Magnificent and so on and so forth on up the pts scale.

The more points you rack up, the more __(pts?//$$? of some sort)__ you get for just playing the thing. If your team wins, you get your personal player pts, and a team bonus.

In levels though. If you put in some good work, and you are the player that captures the prize for your team...you get ___(something unique that no one else knows about until they win like you did)___ in addition to your personal pts

You put in work, but your team looses? You take a "pay cut" on personal points dawg. lol

You don't do nothin', you don't get nothin' ha!
-------------

Other stuff I'd say, would be

:: Weapons, but that have a definite limit. Like throwing stars, bow & arrow.....or like Swords that break after one person uses them. A gun that actually runs out of bullets. That....or just little power orbs that pop up less than frequent, and at random all over the map so that you can use a special power if you need it.

These things can have different properties and purposes too. Like flight, or teleporting, or speed, or a portal. BUT, certain things, based on the character that you're using, you wouldn't be able to use. Like, Sub-Zero can't use Scorpions spear......but he can pick it up heheheh....as to prevent a near-by Scorpion player from being able to use it.

But you get it, "abilities". Swinging on things, climbing on things, running up things...ect. Weapons are not just things you can hold. They are things that give you some kind of advantage.

:: There should be a limit to how many of these things you can pick up, and for how long you can use or hold them. Or, maybe just filling up a certain amount of slots prevent you from overcoming some obstacle in the map (like, you need to be able to swing across something in order to get to the prize, but all your slots are filled up with stuff that other players need. In other words, "You tried to prevent some other character from getting some weapon too much, filled up your slots, and now you can't get the prize"..ect)

For that instance, you should be able to "dump" some, or all of that stuff. But you run the risk of giving the other players an unfair advantage against you if they find the spot where you dumped some or all of that stuff off. And besides that, you have to come back to that spot, or find a different way to get to the prize. But what if you're so close you can see it? eh?

=====================================

Anyway....that's one of the little modes. All this typing makes it seem more complicated than I think it would play.

Been a while since I posted in here.

Another one, this one is on MODES

=======

I think there needs to be some clarification here first. I do not appreciate mini-games overall, but I would not mind a few worth-while modes making it into future games.

MkPong - That was a mini-game. That was something they did with the remaining space on the disc, just to put some bullshit on there.

Konquest - This is a mode to me. Something that they actually spend good time on, figuring out how it can benefit the story, and add replay value to the game.

1.) Now, games like:

Chess Kombat, Motor Kombat, MK Tetris, so on and so forth. These are mini-games to me, and HELL NO! I do not want these things to ever come back *in the fashion that they have existed* in Mortal Kombat. Test Your Might fits in here as a mini game too as a matter of fact.

What I mean is, these are the things that should be integrated into game play (i.e. 1on1 or moreso, Konquest mode), at least something like God of War did them. To where they only suggested a reference to that old arcade classic IF you thought about what you were doing, while you were doing it. So, in God of Wars case, Kratos (Kratos is the main character or those who don't know) was literally "pushing" together huge pieces of fragmented rock (key) that opened a huge "door" somewhere else in the level. It required a thought process to do, or else you would not be able to progress.....but at the end of the day what? THAT was none other than a Tetris game modernized to challenge a new audience, and on a much more grand scale. PERFECT!

Test Your Might is no different, and that is why I appreciate how they handled it in MkvsDC. Now, if they use this in the same fashion in a new game, I would only like to see it in a maximum of maybe 2 arenas. Something like it is, through the walls of the Church arena, OR through something like the Graveyard or Living Forest. But only a max of two out of maybe 20 arenas or something. It's of dire importance that they do not abuse this application. Also, I would like it to be harder to knock people into this sequence.

Mainly though, if a mini-game is present, it needs to be relevant to what's happening with the environment, or the character. Not a separate place on the disc that I can just go into. Cleverly Integrate it.

2.) Now, games like:

Konquest//Story mode, Practice mode, Kombo Challenge, Tournament, 2on2, Endurance, and so on...these things are the modes that I usually appreciate. Why?, Because they directly relate to the purpose for which they were created.

There's nothing frivolous about 'em, and the purpose for which you are playing them, is addressed at the title of the mode.

I feel like these modes just need to be improved upon. Make story mode a better open-world RPG//FPS//MMORPG type game. Practice mode is fine...now. Kombo Challenge needs to reward people for learning how to play the game correctly. Tournament should distinguish the "top-dawg" somehow. 2on2 should just...RETURN. And I liked the Endurance mode we got to find in MkSm. There was adequate give and take there. The only thing missing from the mode was a more relevant reward after beating all those characters. Like, a big bucket of money that I can spend on...____?

- To focus on my favorite of the modes, the Story Mode.

Offline, I simply go through a Konquest and learn the story of Mortal Kombat for that game (or whatever). How about, let me create my own character, and much like Shujinko, grow up learning about the Mortal Kombat contest, and eventually competing in it. But instead of being like Shujinko in that, he was the main character in MkD, let me compete as this anonymous, nobody character (something like the black guy in the first MK movie who got killed by Goro). Let me train based on my initial alliance and decor. If I'm a soldier, let me train with a Sargent, if I'm a "karate kid" (ninja or whatever else there is), let me train with a sensei. ect...

During my quest, I get to pay (with money) for some old guy to tell me a story about Mortal Kombat past (could very well be Shujinko). I get to acquire my powers and special moves (with experience points)based on a logical assessments from my sensei, or from an oracle. If I turn bad before I finish the mode, or, "come to current" in the mode, the aesthetic changes on the effects of the powers that I have based on what I've been doing with my character.

Aka: manipulating and or killing innocents, out right owning everything and creating a small following. OR being as close to a "Liu Kang" or a "Raiden" as I could in the game. Doing things to help and protect people...ect

Then, when I go online, I would love to see a more open world RPG // MMORPG feel applied to it. If I take it online, let me go through the ranks, gain and loose things, develop my character to, or simply assume sides good, neutral, or evil. Take my created character online with me, and earn things that might mean something to that created character, or to other characters that are on the official roster.

Maybe that's ahead of the curve though...

I'll come back later to finish this.
Take my created character online with me, and earn things that might mean something to that created character, or to other characters that are on the official roster......

CONT:

What I think would be really interesting online with a Konquest-type mode, is if it allowed all the clans in Mortal Kombat to have more relevance. Like, if I build say, a "bad guy" going through the story mode offline, and take him online with me, my stats from playing offline, my alignment, powers, experience level, and everything else about my character comes with me online. And from there, I can choose which of the existing "bad guy clans" I wanna be associated with while online. Maybe I'd have to go though an admission from the other members on the existing team or something.

Or to make that simpler, I could just be allowed to make up my own clan. (Give the leader the option to make up some silly acceptance letter that pops up on incoming participates screen or whatever...)Nobody is obligated to stay in a clan, but there should be simple rules to entering, betraying, simply leaving, or staying loyal to a clan. As well as contributing positively to a clan, fighting and doing Fatalities on opposing clans' members, obtaining valuable things that make your clan stronger, "infiltration" missions....ect That sort of thing.

In either case, we should be able to go on missions together (or individual missions like in CoD4.), and challenge other clans...ect.

You'd handle rank like online sorta has it right now. Most fights, most missions completed, most powerful, best combo, ect ect ect...
Rank though, should have a roof. For instance, if I'm a member of the Brotherhood of the Shadow, the highest I could get would be a Shadow Priest" or like a "Shadow Master" or something to that affect.

The significance in these describe what kinds of powers, and moves you have, what type of personality you exhibit within your own clan, and the things that you have done or obtained in order to become that rank.

Now, another fun attriute of playing a Konquest type game online that has all these ranks and such going on, is all the "IF" scenarios. For instance, IF you invest time in building yourself up with one clan, and decide to move to another clan because you feel it's just more fitting, then you loose a bunch of experience, some moves, some money, and some of the specific things you did with the previous clan, that were only relative to that clans activities.

BUT, until you've invested enough time in the new clan to turn your powers and stuff "light", you become an abomination. So, you could have dark powers and be in a "Do-Gooder" clan, but your powers are nowhere near as potent as they would be had you simply stayed with your original clan.
It should be to where you loose dramatically should you choose to come out of a clan and go into another one with one of your character slots.

[ Btw, yes, I believe we should get at least 2-3 character slots in order to be able to experience enough of the "sides" the game has to offer. "Good, Neutral, and Evil", with the option to choose from all the clans that Mortal Kombat has. 3 Created Characters, let me buy another 2 or 3 without having to erase pre-existing ones or something like that through Xbox LIVE or Ps3 Home or whatever.]

========
While this idea is lengthy and reads pretty grand and complicated, I believe that it'd be alot more simple applied. And even if downsizing the idea is necessary, I think the improvisational solutions would still keep the concepts intuitive logic, creative relevance and purpose, and interactive qualities in tact.

The one thing I'm not exactly sure about, is how much this begs for it's own release by itself. Because I do realize that there are some fine references to other popular RPG's and MMO games out right now.

Here is a loose idea for Scorpion and Sub Zero's bios in mk9. I wrote this in another thread but it seemed more applicable here.

I actually didn't mind Scorpion as the elder god's champion. It moved him away from the whole vengeance thing after he defeats the younger Sub Zero, and sort of gets revenge on Quan Chi in mkda.

I would have liked him to remain as the elder gods champion and they use him as a weapon to enforce their agenda which would not always be in alignment with the good guys. Raiden protects earthrealm and helps the good guys but he gets too proactive for the elder gods which has been shown in different media. The elder gods could use Scorpion to kind of just look out for their interests which is earthrealm.

That wouldn't always be the same as just helping the good guys. Scorpion's new job could at times bring him into conflict with everyone, heroes and villains, and even Raiden. It gives him a clear purpose, moves him away from the whole vengeance motive, and maintains his bad ass stature as someone you don't want to mess with.

Then if you made the younger Sub Zero the mk champion, they both have been elevated to supreme but still equal positions, which would be fitting in my opinion since they are the two most important characters in the mk franchise

NOTE: I don't mean the most important characters story wise, but in terms of popularity and marketing, they are the Ryu and Ken of mk There is no mk without Sub and Scorp. But the above storylines would officially make them the most important characters in the game as well which would I think help the franchise.

Sort of like in DC comics everything revolves around Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman They are the big 3 in DC and they know it and treat them accordingly. I just think mk should do the same for their big 2.

And while I'm at it, make Kitana the number 3 character. Edenia which is along with earthrealm the biggest defender against Shao Kahn and outworld. It makes sense to play up Kitana's importance to the story along with Sub and Scorpion.

For mk 9 why hasn't mk included a create your own tournament feature yet? Mk 4 had something like that on the home versions. That would be great. You pick your fighters and set up brackets, set up the defending champion of the tournament (it could even be you), pick a sub-boss and go at it.
You choose to be the mk champion of your own tournament or fight your way through your own Kontest to challenge a mk champion you chose to fight against.
That is a nice alternative to online play and arcade mode if you don't like those features. You can control who you fight against and the arenas. I think that this could lead to hours of re playability.

Arenas

Please bring back the Living forest. Make it dark, I would like to see the entire floor of the level covered with fog or mist that your characters fight in. Include multiple levels and I want to see an overhanging canopy.
I liked the Living forest in mk4, it was somewhat plain in mkd, even though I still liked it.
Have characters hidden behind the trees, make it a visual feast.

I have to say that I was very disappointed in the levels of mk vs dc. They felt plain and empty to me. I felt they were better in mkd.

Gameplay

The only thing I really want in terms of gameplay is the RUN button. I miss how much it sped up the gameplay. Especially in mk4. You could be one step away from an opponent and then get in their face with a combo. You had to constantly be on your gaurd.

I also would like the basic character movement, walking and 3d movement to be sped up ever so slightly.

Was just trying some kombo challenges and something else I would like the mk team to slightly adjust is the combo system. Since we still have some dial combos, I would like them to feel more "fluid". I don't know exactly how to say this but from mkda on, the combo system has always felt a little "off" to me.

It felt a lot easier to link special moves and juggle in the pre-mkda games. Some of the moves require you to watch animations and frames and others don't seem to. Maybe the ability to just input all the commands or buffer (I think this is the right term?Or que up?) special moves to an extent without being so tied to frames.

I like the combo system a lot better in mk vs dc it feels a lot more old school, but I still think it needs to be loosened up more and be less restricting.

I love the Soul Calibur series (not as much as mk) , it feels so much more fluid to me.

Thoughts? Comments? Any of you gameplay nuts please respond.

From What You Want in MK:9. Some pretty good ideas in there, some repeats....ect.
==============================================

Simple answer? = Too much.

More specific now?

Characters:

Raiden - duh. I want him on a power trip though. Something that kinda screams "Lord General God". Like a mix of Shinnok, Onaga, Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, and Shang Tsung that fights with a greater good = Raiden in true essence. I want a Predator Raiden. A good character that is abusing the stature and power that he was given in a way that jeopardizes a moral code. Watch some of the series Dexter. THAT's the Raiden I want. Says that he knows how to violate all the rules just right and get away with it. He's logical, methodical, is calculated, and he's painfully ruthless. He shouldn't be "crazy" because he's killing bad guys, but it should bring up that question based on method; "How he went about it".... He should be inventive and innovative based on what he knows (considering he's a gazillion years old...he knows ALOT). Also, consider what he's doing in his story anyway.

I want them to spend some quality time on all the characters of course, but I feel the need to post the demand for my fav character specifically.

This new Raiden I'm talking about is going to kill you, but will not avoid the innocent. *shrugs* He doesn't have a real consequence to his actions......or does he?

Kai- I want him as an oracle or, fortune teller of some sort by the time he gets fully developed (game or so down the line). In the meantime, I want him to really embody Mortal Kombats drama element. There's a way to do this without tarnishing the brand I'd like to see on this next game (more on that later here). I think they should mix this oracle, or fortune teller with a bit of Sub-Zero's brooding presence. That, or Kung Lao. He should be secretive, intriguing, and kinda stand off-ish at the same time, until we figure out what his deal is. That's why I think they should keep the tiger stripes with at least an alt design. Make it something cool we find out.

Also, for Kai, I make an odd connection with him and the Earth element, so I'd like to see him have a couple moves with the element earth, or sand, or mud. Has to be realistically fantastic though, and has to make sense in how he commands the element too. DON'T give him traditional telepathy, make it a specialty. i.e. "he can only do it when...." ect. I would absolutely hate to see this talent be used during a match. , even though I would like him to grow into something of a mage of forecasting and Earth manipulation. Advanced techniques could see him actually "move a mountain", walk on walls, or play with metals.

No animal references in gameplay despite the stripes.....No stereotypes, although the braids and goat tee were fine. No jokes, and no obvious handicaps for this character. He should be as solid as a rock because he was exposed to the best. If Kung Lao has the raw talent, and Liu Kang has the true blessing, Kai should be the "raw blessing" and or the "true talent". Means he's not gonna be a genius, but he'd probably have a nact for fighting through an unusually intelligent tactic. Or, he'd have a "style"//"swagger" about how he fights, but it's nothing in comparison to how perceptive he is in a fighting situation.

Last thing, I think they should play with the idea that his dreams are leading him into uncharted territory. He's the soul searcher that actually would have an ultimate end. Eventually, I think he might have the power to decide the fate of others. Maybe in his history, he was exposed to gypsy's, a circus, or something.

I really hope they don't botch this character. I realize that he needs alot of work, but I really like him nonetheless because he's got a great amount of potential.

Kung Lao - At least give him an apprentice. If not, I would like to see him older, nostalgic, and very cautious about who he talks to, and lets into his life. He and Fujin look like a team of some sort, but I think their relationship should be respectful, but off and on. Well, except for when it comes to getting something done. Then I'd see them putting their differences in leadership aside to get and objective accomplished. Hm, I really like the idea of Kung Lao coming back as a replacement for Bo Rai Cho though. Kung Lao would make Mortal Kombats ultimate sensei, if they did him right. Bo Rai Cho to me has a great role wasted on him cuz he's such a joke, give it to Kung Lao.

Fujin - Insight into the character please. Gimme more wind power, gimme a decision making process that differs from the "light Raiden", give me something that defines the character better, so that I can separated him from Raiden. Something to that affect.......

And I don't care one bit for Raiden and Fujin being brothers (or Raiden and Shao Kahn for that matter)....that's stupid to me to do that to Mortal Kombat characters any more than it already has been done. I don't want more relatives, I want great individual characters.

Scorpion - he should fall back a bit though. Make him more inconspicuous so that we have to look in to his story. I don't want a front runner Scorpion.

Ya know, I wonder what it'd be like if Scorpion was one of the characters we'd have to find, or unlock for a change. That way they could do promotions and such with him in it, but when we get the game, we have to work for (hopefully) a really awesome character. I remember Mk3.

Sub-Zero - ^Ditto^, pretty much.

Kitana - DUDE, I wish they would just do what XiahouDun84 is suggesting for them to do with her. His take on her is waaaaay better than the MKTeams' coming from about MK3 or something. Through and through. Just do it man.

Edenia in general, his is better, as a matter of fact.
__
Mmm.....who else do I want playable...?... Oh, gimme maybe Smoke or Sektor.
__

Smoke or Sektor - Both of these guys are more interesting to me right now than Cyrax.

For Smoke, the ultra ether-real-ghostly idea appeals the most. Really freakish scary ghostly look. Let go of that ninja thing alot more, and make him ghostly. I don't like the ninja Smoke, because I hate knockoffs. If the fans of Smoke must have a ninja, then make it an alt so we can be surprised or something. And for that alt, I like Aculeus' rendition waay better than what's being done with him in the past.

For Sektor, the idea of him turning into some sort of Braniac (yea, from the DC universe)-nano tech-type figure, and going to war with the Special Forces over Jax is intriguing. In the past, I've liked how hopelessly attached to humanity Sektor has always been, despite him being assimilated. So in the future, he should probably gleen more of that technologically driven design, but still nowhere near detached from his humanistic qualities. Stay with a Predator // Terminator 2 with him. Keeps him grounded as a fighter with human beginnings, but advances him technologically.

One move that I think would be interesting for Sektor, would be named something like "the virus". It should really reek of what it feels like to actually get a virus on your computer at home. Maybe something sharp, really quick...idk, maybe use the nano tech in a fatality? Something that sees them crawl out of you?, even though he didn't touch you? Who knows...

I like Sektors story potential more than I like Smokes, so I'm more interested in Sektor, but both would be cool to play with if presented in this kind of way to me. Even though I have almost no interest in seeing Jax become some sort of cyborg type of thing (in fact, as a soldier, he shouldn't even "need" the bionic arms). He should be getting less dependent on the mechanisms, not more....he's a soldier.

Sareena - Again, go with XiahouDun84's taste for this character. I feel like as long as they take care in how subtleties could develop her, she's a shoe-in character for a "new" Mortal Kombat. "Demonic vs Humane". Speaks for itself pretty much.

Nightwolf - He's my curve-ball for this list.....I just keep thinking about what he could be like now, since his visit to the NetherRealm. I'd like to see what a "conflicted shaman" looks like. He could be one of the scarrier characters on the roster what with all the spiritual bonds, ties to nature, and animals and so on.

I'd like to see the whited out eyes look return for him as well. The old one is the new Nightwolf.

--
I'd probably go with a Drahmin for the monster character, and maybe someone like Sonya for the last pure human character on the roster. I think that's enough characters for right now, even though there might be one or two more.
--

Fighting:

1 on 1 - duh.

2 on 2 // 3 on 3 // 4 on 4 - could be online teams here. 4 people from different places on one team (in one bout together mind you), against four other people from different places on the other team. I LOVED how in MKTilogy, the looser blew up, and the next character just...jumped right in the match. Something that keeps the action going like that needs to return in that type of situation.

Practice mode - expand on MkvsDc's practice mode. Give alot of options, I like SC4's ability to press a button, see what the move is supposed to look like, and then continue trying to do the move.

Endurance mode - Don't care for it in it's traditional form (Mk1), but loved it in MksM. So, I think this should appear again in the story mode. At any rate, it should be there...somewhere.

Tournament - Don't really care for it so much, but it should be there especially for online purposes. I'd like to try my luck sometimes. That mini-mode Chess Kombat is the infrastructure for a new Mortal Kombat tournament mode. The aesthetic associated with when you "challenge" a square in that little mini game (and also, when you win) is something I'm looking for from a "new" tournament mode.

Theme - Mainly what I wanna see, is a game that operates similar to MKvsDC, but that has a more pointed execution. I like movie choreography, but I don't know how feasible it is quite yet. And I mean, anything from 1950- to current as far as what is available. Just so that there is ample opportunity to find choreographed styles that pander to each character specifically and exclusively. No character should feel or look the same, but there should be and underlying factor that says "I'm getting to play through what I see in the movies".

The camera plays a big part in movies, so what I'm looking for is alot like MK1-2- & through MKT. Each character threw punches and kicks totally different from the next. Besides actual pallet swaps, none of the characters shared attitude, within a combo and so, it felt more authentic.

Now, none of this limits them to an Asian fighting theme in the game. For example, almost nothing about The Transporter (Jason Statham) movies feels Asian at all. Ong Bok (Tony Jaa) is the same way, and these movies are modern. The Blade trilogy has alot of martial arts in it because of Wesley Snipes martial arts training, but again, didn't feel like I was watching an Asian martial arts parody or iteration.

I think it would do them well to pay attention to this. An underlying theme for fighting sets the mood for how intense a character could be, should you find something intriguing about that character (how they throw a punch or kick, how they run, or throw a fireball..ect). It's an aesthetically charged, and real purposeful way to attract a person to a character. "Oh snap!, he fights kinda like Jackie Chan"......And from there, all that's really left is more character pandering....alot. All the "stuff" that makes that character an individual, and a favorite. For instance, I initially was attracted to MK3-T Queen Sindel because of how she rose up off the ground to fly....Well, that was character pandering. Nobody else in the game did that, THAT way...Nobody threw punches like she did, her combos were completely different from everyone elses.

So, this shit where they give everybody the same jump punch (regardless of it's function at that point), is unacceptable. When they do that, it's an immediate nod to this:

"This is a p.o.s. game because they didn't finish it before they put it out."

Environmental Hazards - [a+]Gimme a 1 on 1 situation, that can turn into a bar fight // melee type situation in one of the arenas (Courtyard).
[b+] How about obstacles, like a corpse that grabs your foot? All you'd have to do is press the kick button to get him off, but without complicating things too much, it prohibits you from using the limb while the corpse has you. What if something fell out a tree and landed on you? Throw a punch to get it off, but in that one arena, you have to be more careful of the things you could trigger.
[c+] I like the arenas that fall apart. Gives a sense of urgency and the strategy gradually changes. Arenas that deterriroate in space affect opportunity. I want one of these in the next MK game.

[-a] Do not want "ring outs" all over the place. One, in the deteriorating arena is enough.
[-b] Do not want Test Your Might, or anything else of the sort, in the middle of gameplay. Minimize, or completely eliminate these interruptions. Just let me fight. Don't care about falling off, or zooming in on anything really. But again, if something like that makes it, only one arena. Has to be a natural circumstance, that makes me change my strategy. NOT how I control my character. I only need, and only want one good mechanic, that lets me use it, and adapt to anything you throw at me.

Like, take my [a+] from above. All that should really happen, is the camera should move (like normal), and I should be able to interact with background objects that are those monks in the Courtyard fluidly. The UnReal Engine can handle a couple hundred characters on screen at once, certainly it can handle 15 or so at once, in real time, to create what would feel like this.

At most, I should be able to punch and kick them out of the way, creating the affect as if I am almost always hitting something. Should have a Matrix feel to it too, if they slowed those "objects", those..."dummy monks" down. They're essentially the Tarkatan horde from MkSm, or even more simplistic than that, they are like, "movable fodder-type objects" in an arena that just move out of the way if we make contact with them. Only real distraction from the bout between 2 characters, should be aesthetic. Or, "visually disturbing". Makes you think that there's too much going on to hold the fight, but it's really not.
[-c] No arena fatalities mid-bout. Carry this over from MkvsDc. I'm not even sure I'd like more than one instance where I can perform an arena fatality at the end of a match. Maybe give me the camera angle from MK2-ish, if I can knock someone off a board like back in the day.

Secrets - Yep, during gameplay. And I mean "give me an opportunity to find a character, while I'm in the middle of fighting some guy" - type of secrets. By chance or whatever....We all wondered if this was possible in Mk2. What happened when the new technology came into play?
--

Story:

Mainly maturity, coherency, and continuation. Deeper, modern story telling methods for individual characters, and the overall story. From the way the script is treated, to the way the story is delivered..

Story needs help being year 2000 >>, should be almost lifelike. Everything really naturally progressing, naturally spoken, cleverly, yet logically delivered though all kinds of avenues in the game itself.

From every little silly nit-pick-y thing about a character individually (clothes, armor, weapons ect..should all be telling us something about the game or characters) , to "winning" information through playing some of these modes and so on. We should be getting story stuff from all over the disc, online and offline iMo.

Far as maturity is concerned, I don't necessarily need cursing in the games script.....but in that case, I do need a word smith in there "cursing without using curse words". There's a difference that represents a mature artistry behind that method. Aheh, and then sometimes...just say "Fuck It", literally. Or bullshit...or whatever. It's a M rated game, the shoe fits (or excuse me, "the shit is appropriate". lol)

Maturity also speaks to modernization in a way too. People, all kinds of people talk differently now. These things need to reflect in the games. How do you talk to your mom? That persona should make an appearance through the script, and voice actors some times. How do you talk to a dumbass? Same deal, have some of these characters speaking like that, in the game. It's entertainment so long as it isn't frivolous popping off at the mouth. And even then....y'know?
--

Other:

Story Mode - Give me a Kreated Kharacter, that I can build through the offline story mode in all ways. From fighting style, to back story, and everything. To where, by the time I'm done with the offline story mode, I am one of the anonymous contestants in the actual Mortal Kombat Contest.

Let me take that character online, and go into the other modes. Fighting modes, as well as story-type driven modes. It would seem like an MMO with teams and objectives that have an end, and some rewards that compliment building my KaK further.

Maybe use the clans if necessary? Or just let us make up our own.

Online - I wanna feel like I actually went somewhere. This is mostly aesthetic, but it deserves the loading to cease to exist as much as humanly possible, AND it absolutely needs to have more to do. More little modes, and one big tournament? Something....

Mortal Kombats scavenger hunt, some iteration of take the flag, some kinds of fatality challenges, flawless victory challenges, Endurance mode could fit here....Aggressor mode could be apart of that. Irradiate the clan...Infiltrator...whatever...

Some of these things merely bump your rank online and give you money, some of these things could be gateways to more of the story...ect. Whole bunch of stuff they're not even scratching the surface on.

Downloadable Content - I'm good with downloading specialty packs. Like more special moves for Kreate a Kharacter, specialty alt costumes for regular characters....extra bios, more space for another KaK, more arenas, maps for specific modes, expansion maps for story mode, more little secrets....ect. Whatever.
--

Mortal Kombats Mood:

I want a Nightmare. A surreal nightmare. Means realistic characters, in semi-fantasy // fantasy arenas, with the threat of real fobias around every single corner. Back drop the movie choreographed martial arts themed fighting in the game, and a drama, suspense, and terror like a Stephen King book//movie.

I think it'd deliver a pretty good terroristic, adrenaline rushed filled, completely consuming experience for the players.

That's.....about what I want.

I haven't been on this web sit ein a really long time and i came across this toic and loved it. I didn't have time to read everybodies posts do if i do say something that some body else has already mentioned i'm sorry.

I think at the begining of the game you can kreate a kharacter. I don't just mean you select what they look like, i mean you can create what they're capable of. e.g. you choose a class that you want to be like. these could be:

warrior (like liu kang) , sorcerer (like quan chi), assassin (like Jade), ninja (scorpion) , thug (red or black dragon members), mercenary (dairou),
or a brute (like goro)

then each class can be certain races like not all races could be a rute only shokans, centaurs e.g.

then when you play you can do varios missions for already existing MK Kharacters, but there is a main quest different depending on which allignment you choose:

good: you would have to pretect the realms from a threatning force.
bad: you needed to take over a realm or all of them.
neutral: You would be the champion of the elder gods and needed to restore peace.

as you play you would gain Koins from varios side quests and with them you could but new powers, weapons or clothes but depending on your class you can only have specific items e.g. a sorcerer cannot wear heavy armour but they wear cloth. but they have a wider range of moves to buy.

From this thread HERE:

Elemental characters only need one representative of a respected element on the roster anyway. One person who does water, one person who does earth, one who does fire stuff, and one who does wind stuff. And they don't all need to be clumped into one game either.

But the point is that there is far too vast a pool to pull from to be making 20+ fire characters. And since they tried doing the 20+ fire people, with a failed attempt as far as diversity goes...I'd wish for them to simply concentrate the effort into one extremely awesome fire person = Scorpion maybe.

To where, he has the harpoon mojo yea, but he also has a few crazy hell fire special attacks too. So with that said, here's how I'd play elementals in MK during real time gameplay:

1. Scropion = Fire only + harpoon mojo. He's retardant to fire we've seen. We've also seen him produce fire, or call on it in different forms throughout the years, so I'd love to see what they'd come up with. Maybe instead of just throwing the harpoon at you and having you spill blood. He could also have some of the mojo from MkSm, and when you get stuck with the harpoon this time...it also would have a burning effect. This sort of thing could've been one of his pro-moves in MkvsDc.

Btw, the straight//regular harpoon move should be faster, and the move that involves the rope mojo, should act as a defense mechanism. Blocking incoming projectiles and so on....

2. Sub-Zero = Ice + some water freezing tricks since he's a grand master. And besides, he should know how to deal with water anyway, since that's what ice consist of. Mist, Dew, and any other means of condensation, he should pretty much have reign over too. That's probably blood, and the moisture within plants and animals too. I seen it on that Avatar cartoon, I admit, but it just makes fucking sense for a GrandMaster....or "God of Water"-type to make these sorts of advancements with this.

3. Rain = Water only. No, he should not have a lighting bolt. That's stupid as hell. Rain should have some of those condensation moves like I was talking about for Sub-Zero. The fact that he's a god's son should privilege him to some good water manipulation techniques. But had he been taught buy a Grand Master like Sub-Zero, Rain would learn a few completely unique tricks all his own. He might be more privileged to manipulating moisture within things than Sub-Zero at that point. But right now? He should only really have the water tricks.

"Acid Rain" should be one of his moves in some form or fashion. He should be controlling the speed in which water moves as a weapon, It could be a whip, or like a lazer for him then. He might be able to control the density, and ph balance in water....making water heavier. When you handle Rain like that, and maybe give him control over moisture within other things...you do not need a damn lighting bolt, AND he becomes his own unique character in a fight.

4. Fujin = Wind - Pretty much the same deal as with Rain. Speed mainly though. Fujin should have moves that suck the oxygen out of the air around a character as a stun move. Make it look like a tornado around the opponent, but that you don't swirl around in. You just...choke.

He should probably have a wind burst thing like Cap Marvel does where he claps both hands. He should be one, if not the only character that's able to fly during a fight. Defense mechanisms could be a wall of air that you get caught up in...like a geyser. Could work as a pop-up move too. He should be one of the only characters (aside from the telekinesis person) pushing and pulling characters around out of nowhere...and he should be utilizing centrifugal force to fight and throw special moves in general.

Fatalities should look something like those couple moves at the end of Kung Fu Hustle with the hand..(ah here we go 7:30sec or so)...Or we should see Fujin "taking the breathe away" from his opponents in some really cool, gruesome, god-like kinds of ways...

5. Kai = Earth only - I figure, instead of sticking this guy with capoeira like I think they started to do, Give him earth and really separate him from anything else on the roster. I know...I know..."what about Tremor?", right? I don't care for another ninja, and I make a weird conection between Kai and Earth...so just bare with me on that front.

I think that when Kai figures out he has this power over Earth, he'd simply walk around with Chinese Therapy balls. Those are his projectile....at first.

When he figures out he can do more, he'll throw and kick boulders and all that around. Again, alot like Toph Bei Fong, a character from that Avatar cartoon. Game or so down the line, he'll play with sand, mud, and maybe even defy gravity when surrounded by earhy walled structures // buildings and such.

Defense mechanisms could consist of literally pulling up slabs of earth to block incoming projectiles and such (think Green Lanterns wall special move from MkvsDc). To counter a projectile, he'd pull up a rock to block, and then kick or punch that same rock so that particles of that rock fly at the opponent. Tah Dah.

6. Raiden = Lighting ONLY. I'd love to see Raiden do practile lightning stuff. Like touch the ground, and a lighting bolt strikes the opponent. That's how is works in nature anyway. Especially considering Raiden IS a conductor and thee controller of that phenomena. Yea, he should absolutely have Rain//Nightwolf's lighting attack by raising his arm to the sky....but that's kinda old now that it's been shared by everybody and their mother. So just do it differently.

I don't wanna see the Ken//Ryu styled haduken projectile from Raiden. I wanna see Big Trouble in Little China...re-realized. Not palms....but fingers. Not "chi" or "magic"...I want "will of force" from Raiden.

I'd love to see the the defense move from the MKD opening vid. As well as those other moves too. Ground shockings and get-up special moves.

His fatalities could super-heat the opponent into an explosive goopy mush. Or re-furbish him Mk1 fatality and update it...greatly.

7. Necromancers = Dark arts. There are many dark arts, and there are levels within them too. So for each of these characters (like Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Shinnok, Shao Kahn..ect), I'd like them to define their maximum capacity by their limitations.

Like Shang Tsung shouldn't be able to access portals with out an "open sesame" code. Shang would need to be told where a portal could be accessed, but he cannot create them, and he cannot open them with out speaking the right words as per that specific portal.

Whereas Quan Chi, a more powerful sorcerer, should be able to open portal without a code, but he doesn't know where all the portals are. He'd probably just have "jump points" until he figured out where a new portal was hidden.

Shao Kahn? Probably needs permission to access any portal anywhere is already exists. He may or may not be able to create them, but he knows where most of them are and doesn't need the codes so much. He might know all the right codes, or merely be able to think them to open the specific portal.

Shinnok on the other hand, can create a portal anywhere, and access any portal anywhere it already exists. He knows all the codes because he probably helped design them. He might not even need the portals to traverse the realms.
--

Btw, I picked "portal access", because it is a power that voodooism permits after great practice, and excessive experience in the dark art of necromancy.

--

8. Telekinesis - Ermac Or Kenshi....I mean, pick one and give him all the stuff. Personally, I think it makes more sense to give the blind guy the "sense of awareness", rather than the ninja. But this is without considering who taught who to use telekinesis between them. I don't really care about it that much.

I like the first edition Kenshi the most I think. He was probably the epitome of what I'd imagine from a telekinetic character in a fighting game. Pushes, throws, invisible punches...that was good to go.

To expand on it, we might see invisible sweeps, or even invisible power plays like a sword swipe from out of nowhere. Might be cool to see him control his sword with his telekenesis. idk, I'm not big on telekinetic stuff....

I know I didn't really like his fatalities though. I'd like to see him walk towards the opponent, sorta "feeling" for the opponent while he's walking over to them. Then, once he "finds" them with his hands (or with his sword , like a walking stick)...he goes to town on them in some crazy brutal way. Or he could trigger motion from the character? Maybe have him throw a rock or something at the dazed opponent so that they stumble, triggering vibrations of movement like Toph does. And once they move Kenshi runs over and does his fatality in some cinematic fashion?

Hell, idk.

Personally I've always loved platform games as well as fighting games and mk:sm had plenty of both and if you could make the entire roster playable and have actual long levels and level ups 4 moves and a butt-load of brutal fights it would be a dream come true. If they also borrowed some ideas like characters who change forms like in dbz you could have a fight for example between Reptile and Kung Lao and Kung Lao has the upper hand then bam outta nowhere reptile gets an opening and becomes Onaga the Dragon King and commences 2 beat the shaolin snot outta poor Kung Lao b4 his bm is finished releasing into his pants! Since Reptile became the vessel for Onaga's return in Deception they shouldn't be separate characters anymore.IMO anyway being able 2 use weapons you by and uprade like a Dynasty Warriors type thing would be a nice addition 2. The whole rpg element has it's upside and adds new life and possibility 2 the whole package. Also 1 big complaint I had with mk:sm was the shared life bar in ko-op mode if you're buddy dies there should either be a way 2 bring him back or just move on without him.tongue

I loved the idea of marvel character, but I think its a litle impossible 'cause they have directs of DC guys so, would be dficult to do something like that, its more aceptable the idea of doing almost like a shaolin monks with just one character, in fact: scorpion! he has a great story line, it can be the new god of war, it starting on his death by sub-zero's hands (MK I)and ending on his clan on the top of blaze's pyramid. that would be great!(MK Armageddon)

I cant agree with any of this, especially getting rid of all the characters, you may have a point on the pointless bios, but its the look, the fantasy aspect of each fighter that makes even the non mk player want to learn more about a character. Theres fighters like noob scorp jax johnnyetc, but when new characters come about like mavado, or quan chis who is still quite fresh to the game series it sort of makes the average player take more interest into each character. But definitly adding a few new characters is not a crime.wow

I like the idea of going back in time and playing scorps life, but making a seperate game for specific characters would obviously be a lot better. I would imagine theres quite a few interesting characters who would make a notorious solo game.glasses

not sure if this was said but id like to see a konquest mode to where you use a created or already unlocked character of your choice. kung lao or liu kang seeing as how they are the faces of mortal kombat anymore. you unlock other characters by finding them and defeating them.you would fight them more than once, and on those bigger endurance challenges in this mode(that would be made to make it better) you can call upon friends to help you. to make friends you can perform friendships. defeating a charcter would unlock them. and if you defeat them again in the future, they reveal more of yourmoves to you or teach your created character someting. after a while youl be able to select your learnt moves or create your own.
