More like, having a competition to see who can make up better parts of the same story. Progressive though....like making up events on a time line.

Okay, it got a bit confusing at times, but right now I have a lot of ideas for my clan, as well as some ideas that I think would be useful to share with all the other clan leaders so that their life will be a bit easier than mine was trying to figure it all out, lol.

What I Have Planned So Far:

1. I've decided that userbars are the safest bet in advertisement of membership and rank. People will join the clans, but I think they'll still want the freedom to have their own signatures and AVs.
2. A test to conclude whether a person is "qualified" as a member. Like Pred suggested, just something to test their basic knowledge of the site and the clan itself. I also have some other questions that have nothing to do with that, but those are particular to the OIA clan itself.
3. A set of guidelines for new members. Nothing strict, just a few "rules" to avoid future headaches.
4. Rank System. I actually have planned out a unique ranking system. I can't disclose too much because it's not 100% decided on, but it's looking pretty good and will add to how much fun the members have.
5. Competitions. I've thought up some ideas for competitions between the clan members. They revolve mostly around testing the members' artistic abilities, writing abilities, and creativeness.

Feel free to take some ideas from what I've already mentioned, that's why I posted my "game-plan" thus far. You may think I didn't go into a lot of detail about certain things (I.E.: Type of competitions), and you'd be right.

Right now I'm working on a proper set of questions for new members. I'll try to help everyone out with some ideas as soon as I'm able to.

P.S.: Pred, I need to know: would you be willing to reward some of the clan members with DPs for competitions that take place INSIDE the clan? Like, suppose I plan a competition to take place between my own members, not involving members of any other clans. Can I still promise my guys and girls some blue dragons?

Little reminder as to what we're doing right now...


Right now, I wanna open the floor to ideas for a couple of things before we declare our leaders and have them open their own threads.

1. How will you as a leader, handle new recruits?

My take on this is to let them come to you. Pure and simple.
The only "advertising" for your clan should come through the userbars or sigs in your sig space. The cooler your art looks, the more enticing it will be.
This means for you leaders....
TRY AND KEEP THE SAME ART FOR LONGER STINTS OF TIME

People won't recognize you as the leader if you keep changing your stuff every-hour/day/week (at least keep the same avatar...like me or MineOut, or Mkflegend for example. Go request one really cool one now before the clan threads open or something.).....
And then too, it might depend on the clan you are a part of. For instance, it might make sense for an MkO user like "SweetTooth", who was once known as "Redman" to be a part of the Zaterrian clan/race. (chameleons "change alot....like he does with his sigs and avatars. lol ....please don't start doing that, you'll get on alot of peoples nerves like he has about it.)

Anyway,

Once that takes place, I think a good way to go is a small(-er) test like the one you all just took. You make up the questions, you can use some of the ones I put together...there is no shame about it. But they are there to make sure that they will represent your clan correctly on the forums. Make sure they know how to edit their post, make images show up. Make sure they know the rules that you know. So essentially, you're making a better quality user by welcoming recruits into your clan.

Not only all of this stuff^^, but you might want to throw in a couple questions to test the knowledge of the person about your clan. Basic info or something, so you gotta know your stuff Leaders......

A few of you saw me make a mistake within that previous Black Dragon thread right? Remember? Doesn't make me "disqualified" for that clan but, I would have to learn a few things before I could be decreed a member and get my "representation" (badges or banners, avatar, signature, and or userbar)....and I would have to be tested on them based on the cannon info in the games.

After that, maybe some small "ceremony" or "blessing" would happen. Then the new recruit will get their userbars and all that(doing it this way, I think will add something for the person to "boast" about, or "be proud of" for being a part of your clan...see what I mean? Don't just give them everything right away, make them do a little work for it)
....Maybe then after they pass your test(s), and you have figured out their strengths(maybe they can make the sigs and stuff for your clan....maybe they're into story stuff like Leo or XD84), I can come through there and christen the decree with a dp or two. Much like what happens over in the Introduction forum for new people to the site....idk.

The rule that dis-allows "clan hopping" becomes that much more relevant too because, you don't want that "dp whore" skipping around just to get dps. See what I mean?

2. Police yourselves:

An element is here that I wanna address. All the clan leaders have to be "friendly" aside the clan differences(at lease to a considerable dregree). You leaders have to be able to talk amongst each other and approve together whether a member can:

a. come into your clan in the first place
b. leave your clan, and or go to another clan
c. who should be "banned" or axed from all the clans further activities for violations.

You guys are going to have to know who is in your clan, and be able to let the next leader know if someone took all their "representation" off and tried to hop over to another clan. Some people might even go as far as getting their MkO user name changed so they can be in one of the other clans....we'll just deal with those as they come though.

Maybe as the thread masters...you guys can list all your members in the starter post or something? You might even devulge some sort of point system to graduate or decline a member in the ranks? Idk, leave that to you.

Where you come and get me at, is when someone violates the site rules. This could//should usually mean that this person is "banned" from all the clans altogether. I figure, if the person keeps getting skulls all over the site, they won't be a member of your clan long anyway....mind as well trim the fat.


3. What kinds of competitions do you see?

Now, be careful here because you can very easily violate the rules of the site.

Mostly what I see are Art competitions, or short Fan Fictions.

Art competitions like "Sig of the Week(SoTw)" where, the artists of your clan compete against another. Winning points for their clan over time.

Fan Fictions that take us through the past present and future of the clans. The "competition" in these, is that there might be a time limit,? and whichever clan has the most points for a better told story throughout...wins their whole clan dps. Ha!!.... This could work for the SoTw idea too.

I'd like to give rewards like this someday...but only if it is organized amongst the leaders correctly. Yes, you guys have to get together and "declare war"...let all of your clansmen know what, when, where, and how (use that starter post).

I need your input here to see if there are any other avenues we could travel the way of "civil competition".

Why is it taking so long?

a. Because you can't//won't do what I can do, and it's accessible to every user on this site. Simple functions

b. Because you still contribute to a thread with the wrong subject matter.

c. Because people who are interested in this idea....won't go anywhere. They are willing to wait, as long as the end result is good.

No, we will not "hurry up" because it will ruin how stable the clans are, and how long "good" comes from the idea and it's dedicated participants. I'm sure the leaders of these clans want theirs to be successful. They want people to join them, and have fun on a moderate to consistent basis.

We're not playing "font tag" either. I wanted to make sure the leaders can perform as leaders before I allow the different clan threads to be opened in this forum. If you can perform all the functions I can with with HTML we use on this site...."You look like the the leader." You will likely need this skill when editing your starter post in your "Official Clan threads" too. Adding and subtracting members, giving recognition to one or more individuals for things, or giving notification to all members of the clan are all legitimate reasons for "playing font tag". As you so conveniently put it.

Be patient, because when we are done I will make it worth the wait...K?

"Yellow font" means that there is one or more persons testing for Leadership of that Clan.

"Red font" confirms that the clan has at least one leader now.

"Black font" confirms that the Clan needs no more leaders, and the thread for that clan is already made.

Still in white and listed without a leaders name? State the clan you would like to start, and answer the current little quiz for leadership of that clan. However, You Must Pm ThePredator151 First.

Anything small and in parenthesis are notes to that person. Notes for things I may be missing to make you the leader of that clan. To inquire, PM me or post in here....either way is fine.

First things first. Whoever has a clan, that is marked in red in my previous post, needs to let me know if there will be any other "Leaders" added that you know of right now. Then I can close the door by marking those clans in black. Once this is done....YOU are responsible as leader of that clan. No - one - else.

Now, this is the way we will take the clans at first.

We only have two clans with leaders who have completed everything. So guess what? We are now ready to open 2 Clan threads at this time.
But ONLY THESE TWO, for now.

This really works out good because the others will follow behind. So, they will have solid examples to follow. This will also help me keep track of things easier as well.

What I want to see from these clan threads first, is rules, any members, maybe some kind of information on the clan itself, and any ranking systems you might already have thought out.

If you have art representing your clan already, put this in your starter post too. I will be giving my input to make everything "site friendly" and you too may just want to put a link to the faq in there somewhere.

After all this is set up, we'll see about our first "Clan War". lol

Oh yea, one last thing new leaders....I need maybe 5 good questions from each person who is a leader. This is for people in the future who will want to test to be leaders. We need to replace this current Leader Quiz, and I'm pretty tapped out. There will probably be 10-20 questions in the end, I'll sift through them and select the ones I think are the best ones. (don't worry, I'm not a stickler)
