OK, call me crazy, but I'm not too keen on the character damage. IMO, graphically, it's only a small step over the character damage we saw last generation, which, IMO was absolutely atrocious.

What's funny is that everyone seems to bitch about Sonya not looking sexy and feminine enough, but nobody seems to mind a chick with a black eye and the remainder of her teeth hanging out to go along with the bloody cheekbone poking through her face. Is that how you want her to look every time the camera zooms in for her winning pose? Are you gonna jack off to that? (*ahem* Keith, Queve *ahem*) (sorry, I just had too grin )

All I'm saying is it should be something you can toggle on and off just like the blood. I just don't find it all that attractive. Not that it's a bad idea, I just think it's way too exaggerated and poorly done. Sorry if I offended anyone (*ahem* Ed *ahem*) but please, take this into consideration (Ed). I'm sure it would make the DC guys happy, it would make me happy, and it would probably make Keith and Queve happy.

Until next time, take care of yourselves, and each other. Good night. glasses

I see what you mean. But there has to be a more clever way to turn off character damage.

What do you mean a more clever way? What's more simple than going into "gameplay options" and toggling "character damage" from "on" to "off"? Please, enlighten me.

I feel the same way. It'd be cool to have, like the no blood option.

I wouldn't use either of them, but they'd be good for some people

I think the damage being optional is a good idea. If blood is optional the damage should be as well.

Is this in retaliation to my Sonya thread? Because I will agree Character damage should be optional, but after those screens, I wouldn't turn it off

Good Idea.

If Scorpion gets hit in the face once, his mask falls off.

So what's the point of having the mask?

I'll be switching it on and off every now and then.

Actually, no, it was a retaliation to how stupid Scorpion looked with a big hole in his chest. Sorry for the confusion. The only problem I have with the damage is it doesn't look realistic and it's a bit excessive. It could be done a lot better. Frankly, it wouldn't bother me one bit if it wasn't in. No other fighting game comes to mind that has had it and no one has ever complained that they don't. Doesn't really add much if you ask me.

I agree. It's not done well, and should be optional. It's an annoying aesthetic quirk for me.

Wow! I actually thought that looked amazing! Its not the best thing in the world, but Scorpions special damage in his chest, under his arm, those wholes that show his organs/bones, etc. are wicked!

The teared cloth in guys and females looks detailed and well done.

But this is a very interesting and valid point you are making. It would be nice to have an on/off option, but I think I'd mainly leave it on. I'd still like to have that though.

With the little blood we have now, it seems pointless to have an "off" option, lol.

My point exactly. BTW, I love the sig.

To Queve: Yeah, I knew I was forgetting somebody. Also, about Scorpion, I just found it annoying that the whole time I was trying to figure out what I was looking at on his chest. That and it seems like minor punches are leaving great big tears and bloody scratches as I saw in one fight with Batman. It just seems that they're going overboard on it and it really looks kinda silly. Even the way Sonya's tits are hanging out just looks really obvious and silly. I mean, you can do sexy and revealing without being silly i.e. Ivy in Soul Calibur. Also, Batman's suit really shouldn't be tearing that easy if you ask me. I mean, c'mon, it's bulletproof, for Christ's sake.

I have no idea why you would want to turn it off, it'll really make the game feel like a straight up teen. But to each his own, but i'm keeping my damage on, oh and I think midway shouldn't put this at the top of their list, it isen't something thats badly needed, I think its a tad bit greedy to be honest.

Fans have been wanting damages for years and now that we got it you want to complain?

Yeah, I have to say damage shouldn't be optional. It's realistic to get busted up when you're fighting, why take it off?

I'm all for it honestly, I don't feel the need to make it optional unless there's an "option for less violence" like there always is in every MK game with no blood.

I love the damagegrin

Is it realistic to have Sonya's shirt the way it has been shown, though? Nope... not even close. There's no way that thing would stay on with those sorts of tears in it. This isn't an argue of realism. Turning it off might be a nice touch but probably too hard to accomplish. The blood turn off will probably still be in there though, I'm sure.

What do you mean? About her shirt I mean? Are you referring to her boobs staying in tact while she's fighting? Still, for a fighting game overall this is easily the most realistic in terms of depth, scars, on the actual characters etc. I'm surprised nobody has done this sooner honestly in the world of fighting games(MK was supposed to back in MK:DA but pulled on the idea due to time)

Wow, what a compelling and mature response.

Anyhow, I have to think that damage will be optional due to blood being optional, mostly because of online play. Blood can cause the game to lag online, and I would think this degree of damage can do the same thing. However if Boon and his team are so enraptured in this damage system then who knows if the game will have the option to turn it off. The whole system to me seems like a gimmick to catch your attention rather than let you look at the game play system and other parts of the game objectively, that might be lacking. I feel the same way about Free Fall and Klose Kombat. It all seems like a lot of fluff to me.

i think it's a good idea to have it as a standard feature, not optional. they've been promising us clothes damage since deadly alliance.
