graphics are good. Gameplay looks unimpressive but I'm not forming a solid opinion on that until after the game comes out.

Sad thing is fanboys will continue sucking at MK's proverbial cock no matter how this game turns out sad. MK's gotta be one of the only games I've ever seen where loyal fanaticism runs the risk of killing the whole franchise.

The fact that the majority of fans are unwilling to constructively critisice and the ones that do are seen as 'assholes' are what is going to kill this franchise and it's a shame really because it has bags more potential than any fighter around.

Dude, MK:SM was awesome lol. One of the best MK games ever made, well side games but games in general too.

I do hope they make another one or two in the future with the same engine or similar and hopefully onlinegrin

I agree that MKSM was an awesome game. I don't care that it didn't follow the MK2 storyline or whatever, it was fun as hell to play. I would love to see another version with more playable characters from the MK worlds.

As far as the original post, I am pretty pleased with what we've seen so far. The graphics are very detailed and polished. They may not be quite on par with the best looking games out there, but to say this game looks like the last gen MK is ridiculous.

The new trailer definitely got me pumped, but the only thing that I'm a little disappointed in is some of the animations. At the 37 second mark, when Catwoman backflips off of Sonya, the animation seems very stiff. It immediately reminded me of the sloppy animation we had to see in the previous three games. However, when Flash knocks Sub Zero off the first level on the Hell stage and then flips through the newly created opening, that animation looks smooth as silk. Hopefully this is something the team is committed to balancing out before release.

Also, the "Freefall" kombat looks very rigid. I am a little skeptical of how they're going to make the mechanics work in freefall mode. Right now it looks like a carbon copy of the Icarus scene in God of War 2. That is the only part, of a nearly flawless game, that I really do not enjoy playing. I hope to be proven wrong though.

All in all, the materials that have been released so far have raised my interest level from about a 5 to around an 8. Seeing the DC characters in action has laid to rest a lot of my apprehensions. I'm really excited to see what comes out of E3.

It seems a bit different then the GOW2 game, this seems more "cinamatic" and faster paced the falling Kombat I mean with that hard edge to it kind of like Superman vs. Nuke Man in Superman 4 and Spider-man vs. Doc Oc in Spider-Man 2, which I like.

No fighter has ever had such a sequence and the running thru walls is insanely cool lol.

I'm sure once it comes out, the animations, graphics and gameplay will be a lot better and fun to play. It looks good now, will only get better I'm betting. These are still very early builds, all considering it's damn good lol. That's why I'm honestly not too concerned, all demo builds play not as well once the game goes gold usually.

The graphics look like a vast improvement over the last MK games. It's the gameplay I'm worried about.I hope it just runs smooth. Not unresponsive or stif like the past.

Face it the graphics won't look that bad. They will be better then the old MK games but regardless I'd easily take worse graphics for better gameplay.

Gameplay > Graphics.

It would be pretty damn hard for Midway to mess up graphics at this point. All the horsepower the new consoles provide, it would be a disgrace to see less. With that said, for mk's artstyle, I think the graphics look pretty damn good. It's obvious they're not going the photo realistic route with this game, and that's alright. A lot of people tend to forget that great graphics DO NOT make or break a game. If it did, people on this forum would've abandoned MK II long ago.

That brings me to gameplay. From what I got out of the gamespot preview, it would seem that they're kind of stripping the combat system down to an mk II'ish level. Pretty much the same attacks for everyone, varying specials to keep things fresh and to help create combo's, throws, etc. Correct me if i'm wrong on anything I just said, but a "back to basics" approach is appealing, but is it enough to satisfy those that hated deception and armageddon's gameplay? I'm not overly excited about klose or freefall combat. I withhold judgement on that until I've had the chance to play it, but they just kind of seem like hollow mechanics to me. I do in fact hope i'm wrong, and the gamespot preview did give me reason to be interested.

I'm anxiously awaiting news from E3. Lets hope the game delivers.

One more thing, I ranted about this in the rant section, but i'll just throw it out here because it seems to fit the discussion. Just because some people on this board find something wrong with the direction MK is headed (and there are still plenty that do) and actually speak up about it in a passionate and constructive manor, DOES NOT make them any less fans than those that lap up anything they're given. Respect the opinions of others, good or bad. We probubly wouldn't be posting if we didn't care.

I keep reading that this and that isn't as good as VF5 or SC I don't play those games because their not like MK. MK is nothing like those games, MK is all about Fatality's and Death traps(Sad their gone in this game) MK will never be like those other games get over it. Maybe you should contact the makers of thoses games and have them add Fatality's and change there whole storyline. That way you could get the game you want.

Trailers look OK, except that alot of the animation still looks very much like MK:D/:A. As others have mentioned it's still slightly jerky and stiff. They really need to work on that some more. I believe they're still no where near the fluidity of even SC2 at this stage.

Graphics look OK, especially the latest batch of hi-res screenshots. The facial animations really add something extra. How much of that will be noticed while playing will be another story. I'm still waiting on shots of cloth/body damage. The last 2 games were supposed to have this, but it never got in "due to time/scheduling issues" i believe.

Despite what others may think, MK is going to be compared to the other fighters VF5/Tekken5/DOA4. MK is going to sell no matter what, the fanbase is huge, and with the DC characters doubley so. But it doesn't mean it shouldn't come to the same standards of the other fighting game series.

I am. grin

Im loving everything about the game.

BUT...animations do look a stiff like they used to in the past. I hope they look smoother and more fluid in the final build, like in the old and more recent fighters out there.

So far, this game is looking to be outstanding! grin I only hope they fix the mistakes/problems that have been obvious to most of the fans.

I'll only buy it if Emac, Reptile, Cyrax, or Kenshi is in it. But im not, not purchasing because I dont like the gameplay or the trailer. Its just that money is tight nowadays and buying video games isnt my top priority. That aside I really like the character and background design, and superman smashing folk through walls is just sick.

Thank you sir ^*claps* same for JRC's post. Actually, what don't hear "those SC or other fighter fans admit" is SC took fatalities from ohh yeah...MK. The creator even admitted it in last months GP issue ha, ha...so apparently they're also trying to "use similar ideas" that their competition has(*cough MK* cough) to try to attract more fans besides the addition of SW characters.

This game is looking rather awesome, me personally I love the whole "MK2" approach, that game was one of the best MK's and fighting games EVER!!

I think it's funny nobody gets all uptight about Bloody Roar taking "fatalities" and using them in their games but when SC does it most of the MK fans go on a victory parade.
