Yeah, Sonya kicking Superman's ass is quite laughable, but Scorpion kicking Superman's ass is quite probable, seing as Scorpion can't get his ass kicked anymore than he did when he died.

Sub-Zero can surely kick Superman's ass, too. I think any skilled Cyromancer can.

Just as the characters of MK are, Catwoman is also superhuman. I don't know about Shang Tsung, but Sub-Zero will surely have a hard time defeating her.

Even though Captain Marvel sucks, he can just about kick anybody's ass, except for Scorpion's. Honestly, Scorpion is pretty much unbeatable.

Because it's a frickin video game. If CM is so invincible how can he have any enemies in his comics? What's the point of reading them if he is so unbeatable? Superman is weak to magic so that makes sense, but CM is indeed invincible. Another reason I hate the DCU: their characters are so godlike that there's almost no way to beat them.

There is no maybe. It's not at all possible The DC characters like CM, Supes, GL, Flash and WW are on a different level. That is why there is this "cataclysmic event" that somehow affects everyone's power levels.

There are some holes in the 'magic' explanation as others have pointed out. CM and WW for example are very resistant to magic, so magic shouldn't really affect them. I'm just accepting that some of this just won't make a lot of sense if you try to get very technical about it. There will be holes unless the story mode really deals with each character individually.

Sonya and Jax have weapons of the greatest technology.

Scorpion is a specter, enough said.

Raiden (assuming he's in) is a god, enough said.

Liu Kang was the prodogy of Bo' Rai Cho, the most powerful warrior to come out of Outworld.

Kitana doesn't even have special powers.

Shang Tsung's powers aren't really classified as magic, seeing as they are from a source of divinity.

Other than that? Yea, we all know the concept of this game is silly. There are a couple high powered MK characters that could stand their ground, and even beat alot of the comic book characters (DC, Marvel ect) though. And in that respect all of the MK characters have a match up that makes more sense with other comic book characters than the ones that have been confirmed in this game.

Raiden vs Superman = stale mate. Neither "die" sufficiently. If you kill Raidens mortal form, he just.....stands right back up. And if we're talking celestial form for Raiden, Superman can't really fight a spirit, he's a brute force character. Superman can run pretty fast, but not faster than light//lightning. Raiden would likely beat him. But Raiden couldn't electrocute him enough to kill him.....even though Raiden doesn't have a limit to how long he could electrocute someone. Then, there's the matter of Superman being MORTAL. IF Raiden could electrocute Superman long enough...Superman should just dry up. Muscles need water (go over cook a steak to see what I mean). THEN, you'd have to consider which "Superman" we're talking about, because most of them have at lease a resistance to electricity. Means that it hurts him, just doesn't stop him. Some, actually, I think most versions of Superman are immune to natural hazards such as lightning too though.

Shinnok, Quan Chi, or even Shang Tsung should be able to take out Superman with relative ease though. Considering they're all necromancers. ( dark magic manipulators) However, it'd look alot like how Quan and Shang took down Liu Kang. All of them at once fighting Superman.


Raiden vs Shazzam = Raiden wins iMo. Shazzam doesn't ultimately control//produce lightning like Raiden does. Raidens the god, Shazzam's a really powerful human....essentially.

I can just imagine Shazzam screaming "Shazzam!" and before the bolt hits him, Raiden steals the bolt and kicks the kids ass. lol!

Okay I'm being funny, I still don't know (or really care) that much about Shazzam.

On topic....like others have said....it's a fucking game. If they did it "realistically" they game would be horribly unbalanced (even moreso) and idiotic. Suspend disbelief and accept that in this game, the MK characters are somehow capable of fighting DC's powerhouses and move on.

First off, I never said Liu Kang was from Outworld, I said Bo' Rai Cho is.

Second, anything deriving from divine power cannot be viewed as magic.

Third, why are so many people thinking that MK characters do not match up to DC? This MK we're talking about! Not, Tekken, not DOA, not Street Fighter, but Mortal Kombat.
