Nintendo is comprised of three Japanese words. Nin, Ten, Dou, and when combined it means we kicked the holy shit outta Atari.

Yeah, I heard something like that. It's...weird to say the least. I mean, we're not talking just making a larger HDD available. We're talking the actual architecture being altered. Does this mean that later PS3 games will take advantage of the better architecture future PS3s will have? If so, how does that affect people who buy early models? Honestly, I really don't know how a company could conceivably do something like that if it will mean a real change in performance between revisions. Many consoles went through revisions over their lifespan but never were the changes so drastic that later games couldn't function on earlier models. If Sony does plan to redesign the PS3 later in it's life, I don't believe it will mean a 2006 PS3 won't be able to play a 2008 game properly. Chances are it'll be a revamp of the components to make it more affordable. Nothing more.
That's pretty scary coming from someone who is/was avidly considering buying a PS3. I'd even considered pulling some resources together to get one in it's early release months. But hey, if they're talking constructual changes that could effect later games well, that means progressively, as prices decline, another possible $300.00?? Approx. down the road somewhere?? Does that sound about right?
First thing that comes to mind is "I-don't-wanna-I-don't-wanna-I-don't-wanna!"
I was thinkin about getting one because I've heard it can be used for a secondary PC. With a little manipulation of course, if I so choose to tinker . I simply like the potential of a system like that and I want to stay with the Playstation name. It's been good to me through the years.
What's some useful advice in lamens terms, I know writing, a considerable amount in music, and MK stuff. Not computers.... Thanks
By the way, does anyone know of the release date of the PS3 yet? No exuses, I am a bit out of the loop.

I hope Zelda's in Brawl. Otherwise shit will hit the nonexistent fan.
Yeah, I hope she's in SSBB too.
The only thing that bothers me about the Wii though, is the controller. I hope that they find someway for people to play games off of it much easier (didn't they say that the other controller is similar to the Sega Genesis one?).

wii console is strictly for kids is non sense dude, it's a gaming console for all ages.
Agreed here.

I'm going to go look myself but let me know.
b > bck EDIT: Here's one: 1. Final Fantasy Demo 3. Gundam This is in an asian laguage. So, all our relative friends who can translate a bit for the man who is talking "we"/I would appreciate if you could sum up what he's sayin'. I can pretty much guess that he's just explaining the game. Maybe translate the "special" stuff. You know what I mean? 4. Motor Storm? 5. Killing Day Among others look at some of the other vids on YouTube.

What's going to suck is its sales, most likely. More and more info is coming forth that dictates a poor japanese launch, er, poor outlook from the japanese demographic. It's also supposed to be an absolute bitch to code for. I'm not buying one on launch.
I'm getting a Wii and a dual core - waaahoooo!!!

as far as the wii goes. i must be honest. i love the idea of "ultimate backwards compatiblity". BUT, i fear that damn controller. the wii, along with the 360 has yet to show me a game i'll be interested in. (aside from the rumor of a duck hunt game which made me piss my pants LMAO, call me old school) ugh...decisions, decisions.

I don't know. Before e3 this year i was all about the ps3, then the price dropped. i'm not saying that it isn't necessarily worth it. i am saying it is expensive though. I am in the process of saving a little money here and there, but, i am also more on the fence now than i was a year ago.

WHAT? No interesting games for Wii? Zelda, Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy, and Metroid 3 arent interesting?
but duck hunt is?

Agreed, and 360 hasnt shown you anything? How is that possible? Grand Theft Auto 4? Halo 3? Prey? GEARS OF WAR????? I would buy a 360 just go get my hands on any of those games. But luckily my bros best friend has one and brings it over every weekend, so no need to buy a 360. But jesus man, if thoughs games for 360, and the ones mentioned for wii dont faltter you, i dont know how you play video games.

The price is just the icing on the cake for me NOT to buy a PS3 on launch. I wasn't even that impressed with the games at E3, honestly. As I've said before, over sony's whole PS3 presentation, the controller yeilded most of my excitement. I was excited because they ditched that shitty rang'.
Cell isn't going to be much in a couple years. Sony, and most electronic manufactures, sell these huge "holy crap, our new technology will eliminate all" BS. Technology is so fragile. It becomes outdated extremely quickly. Anybody who puts their selling points on how badass they're "indespensible hardware" are only fooling themselves, and the consumer.
I was a hardcore sony fanboy, too. Oddly, i'm just a bit bent out of shape over this PS3 crap. I have absolutely no qualms abandoning them - at least to a later date

To all the games mentioned on the wii, no, right now i'm not that interested. i tried the whole flailing wildly at the screen with the eye toy, and i've got to say...it's not that fun. i'll no doubt end up playing a demo and who knows, my mind may change. For now, I see that controller as a gimmick, just my opinion. once again, i may end up proving myself wrong.
To the 360, yes, no doubt it has some pretty sweet games on the horizon, I said AS OF RIGHT NOW, there is nothing that interests me. Or at least at the time i wrote it. Yes, prey is pretty sweet. I played my friends copy of it and walked away with a brighter outlook on the 360. gta IV, halo, and gears of war are still a ways off...so i'll reserve myself on judgement of those to a later date.
so CALM DOWN! haha
and to the retard comment....yo mama

That's because you're pragmatic. Loyalty is quite conditional. If you have a friend who tells you how stupid and ugly you are every day, after a while you're not going to keep hanging around him. You'd have to be nuts to continue a friendship with someone who pisses on you all the time. Loyalty to console brands makes even less sense though because a console as a piece of hardware is useless without the software to back it up. The hardware itself is just a shell. When you buy a console you're making an investment that whatever money you put up front, will be worth it as the games come out. What good would the PS1 or PS2 have been with no games?
I'm not saying whether the PS3 is worth the $499-$599 or not. That's for each consumer to decide. But what I will say is that with that pricetag, Sony needs quality exclusive software above and beyond what the Wii and 360 deliver in order to convince people it's worth it. FFXIII, MGS4, and VF5 alone are not going to do it. And if the console those games are on performs below expectations, they may not stay exclusives for long. What does a consumer do? "Well, I <3 Sony soooo much because of the PS1 and PS2 that regardless of what the PS3 delivers I have to buy one" or "Sony's past consoles have earned quite a bit of quality support but that may be waning now. I'll have to weigh my options." Fact is, Sony is guaranteed to lose marketshare. If it loses so much that it no longer is the market leader, then you have to wonder how many strong exclusives it will continue to get.
After all, games determine what console is the market leader. But take Squaresoft and Enix of the past. Neither company has ever supported a console that wasn't the worldwide leader in sales. The question is if that was a cause or a result. Were Squaresoft and Enix titles responsible for making the NES, SNES, PSX, etc. the market leader? Or have they just been frontrunners who make good choices? If it's a cause and not a result, then I wouldn't have a problem saying that the PS3 would easily take the top spot again but there's a wrench in the machinery this time. The price. People may be fantatical about FF and Dragon Quest but everyone has limits. If the price of the console is the reason it gets stuck in second or third place, regardless of the software, how long is Square Enix going to stick around considering its history of supporting the market leader? And of course if Sony loses exclusive Square Enix support, that's one less reason people have to spend the money on the PS3. Sony already lost GTA exclusivity with the multiconsole launch and it's not a stretch to predict that a trend may be starting.
I don't want to sound like I'm ringing the bells of doom for Sony but the company is very consciously sacrificing PS3 marketshare to build up Blu-ray's marketshare. They may be in the board rooms saying "Well, we're so far ahead that a little loss can't hurt too much" but when you start running down a hill, it's kind of hard to stop.
It's not just the price but a number of things about the system, and Sony's whole stratagy for the system. Believe me I was originally planning on getting a PS3 on launch day. I had called my local EBGames for 3 weeks straight after E3 trying to find out when they would be taking pre-orders on the system so I could be first one on the list. Turns out there not until late Sep./early Oct , but the more I think about it anyway for the price it's totally unreasonable. There is only 1 game coming out this year for the PS3 that I want (Ressisance fall of Man), and for nearly $700 for the system + 1 game + tax thats totally unreasonable. For that price I can get a DS, and Wii, the 5 games I want between the systems and then have money towards literally the dozen games that I am actually looking forward to on the Xbox 360.
Also aside from all the things that have been floting around the internet about the quailty of Blue-Ray movies, in my honest opinion I think Blue-Ray is a waste for this next generation of gaming. I personally think HD-DVD would have been perfectly sutable, but Sony insists on forcing Blue-Ray which contributes on the hefty price of the PS3. IMO there are very few circustances that would actually warrent the use of Blue-Ray:
-A massive Elder Scrolls game that combines all previous game world into 1 game
-The Lord of the Rings Trilogy continious on 1 disk
-Star Wars Trilogy continuious on 1 disk
-A Final Fanatasy 1-12 anthology on 1 disk
I honestly don't think game developers would take the opertunity to do a game as big as 4 Elder Scrolls games therefor Blue-Ray is pointless IMO.
People are also pissed about the fact you you basically have to pay $600 for the system to get HDMI which is actually required to do 1080p. Sony's stratagy just doesn't sit well with a lot of gamers, and the price just alienates a huge majority of the market. Namely teenagers who are too young to work, and relly on parents or relatives to get them thier game consoles as gifts.
Aslo in response to ongBak's post in that thread:
How can you say that about the 360 needing special equipment, to take full advange of it, when the PS3 will as well?
TTT you also forgot about the WWE Smacdown vs Raw series which will be jumping to mult-console as well, beside the GTA series.
I am the hardest of hard core fans of sonys playstation. but even I will admit it is a little high. But to be frank the sony ps3 is future proof. The PS3 HAS A BLUE RAY DRIVE. A blue ray player today is 1000 dollers. Blue ray is going to be as custom as a dvd player in 5 6 years. Next is graphics processer is Cell the most power chip today. A cell chip is worth 900 today and is more powerfull than any computer chip to date!. And to remember it has a hard disk drive in it. AND THE ONLINE IS FREE LOL LOL
From what I'm hearing Blue-Ray isn't all it's cracked up to be. A lot of reviews, and talk on the internet about both formats since the first products have hit the stores is that Blue-ray acutally has worste picture quailty that HD-DVD when it comes to movies at least. Primareliy because initial Blue-Ray movies being put out are using the 10 year MPEG2 compresion technology, which discards more information that the newer VC-1 compresion technology that is being used in HD-DVD.
