Thankfully, PG13 is what killed Hollywood for me. PG13 and horror for example does not mix.

Or reducation of hard R movies just to pander to the masses. That is not accessibility, that is dumbing down and pandering to the masses.

I'm excited, sorta.
I have no idea what this new MK movie is based on. Could it be a sequel to MKA? Seriously, a lot of us who grew up and watched mk1 and 2, wanted a sequel to that, but, thats probably not what this is. I hope though, when the movie starts and the New Line Cinema logo gets on the screen, that we get to hear the MK song just like the last 2 movies. The only depressing news is that, we have to wait til 2013 :( I will be 31 when this movie comes out or going on 31.

Read before posting plz.

It's been stated several times that the movie will be a reboot, ignoring the original MK movies, the MKC tv show, the defenders of the realm cartoon, the shaolin monks game, the games canon, the MK9 universe, MK vs. DC, the Brazillian Mortal Kombat 4 comic book, Mortal Kombat Rebirth and Legacy.

It's a new world.

Not that I didn't read. I just didn't notice where it said from NL or WB that this is an official reboot and just everyone assuming that it is.

Can someone point out where New line and or WB said that this will be a reboot. All I remember reading is that, this has nothing to do with the current game or MKL.

I'm elated by this news.

From Gamesradar I found this, "And in case there was any doubt, New Line president Toby Emmerich said that the film’s existence is directly related to the web series. "The new game and the online shorts prompted us to consider a reboot of a brand we hadn’t been actively thinking about," he said, unintentionally adding credibility to every petition, fan fiction, and poorly-animated flash series on the internet. "

Now, let me be honest and say that Rebirth and Legacy weren't perfect. They were very flawed... BUT, they also did a LOT right, and some of my favorite new moments of the franchise came from the movie-pitch and webseries.

I was actually re-watching the very awesome Sub-Zero vs. Scorpion fight scene when I read this news. I loved many of the episodes and most of the cast was very, very solid.

Most of the problems I had with it were either down to obvious time and budget constraints, different and unfamiliar elements, and some occasionally weak casting. This series already is confirmed to have about 50x the budget of the webseries (which was just a measly $2 million).

Shao Kahn, Sindel, Shang Tsung, and Quan Chi's actors didn't really impress me, but you'd better believe I adored the actors who played Jax, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage, and the cyborgs.

I'm excited by this. The fight scenes were great, there were some brilliant ideas, and I have zero doubts it can't match up to the quality of the prior film and CERTAINLY surpass Annihilation).

The Legacy series focused on the time just before the tournament from the first game: the film may actually feature the tournament itself.

Finally.
I liked MKR and some of the MKL shorts. My favorite episodes were about cyborgs, Raiden and Cage. So if new movie will take semi-realistic approach to the MK'verse I will be elated. Hooorayy for the experiments and FUCK nostalgia and conformity.

Anyway, I hope that maube they attach some big figure to the movie to oversee it's production. Is the any news about producer of the movie?

This makes me happy. A PG-13 MK movie is a travesty.

If by someone you mean thousands and thousands and thousands.

Most of the flaws in Legacy, IMO, were purely budget related. This is a serious, big time Hollywood production.
It will rock my socks off.

Hopefully we'll get to see:
- Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, Reptile, Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, Sonya, Jax.

Wait.
... wow, I can't believe I'm wishing for Sonya and Jax to make the cut.

3 basic things for a great MK movie:

Johnny Cage > Liu Kang or any other male hero (from MK1 to UMK3)
Less Raiden the better. SERIOUSLY.
FATALITYS!!! With All Caps & In Plural!!!
Cool.

Legacy was cool as in a different take on MK. Now I want the movie to be as close to the real MK games as possible.

Can they PLEASE please just make it about a bunch of warriors fighting in the tournament for their own reasons, each looking unique and cool but not to realistic like legacies scorpion. And make sektor look like sektor and make Cyrax look African not African-American.

Non of that reboot bullshit, make it like MK9's story mode without he retarded deaths and plotholes or lack of fleshing out.

It's so damn easy to do that but I'm SURE they'll fuck it up some how.

Awesome! I like Kevin as the director. I'm surprised to see somebody call it "garbage", but that's there opinion. Anyway, I believe it's gonna be a different take on the series, which is good. I really hope they go super classic with this. I want the characters to look more like the game. I hate when they destroy characters by changing there appearance. I really don't want it geared toward kids either. PG-13 could work, but the movie should be dark. I hope Shao Kahn has a big role as well. Not just Shang Tsung.
