SO!

Watch the trailer again if you haven't already watched it a thousand times, and let's here about it. What did you catch that was cool? What are your likes/dislikes, highlights of the thing...ect

Like:

1.) Just realized that thing with Johnny Cage punching Sub-Zero (bones showing) is NOT klose kombat! That's the first of three Fatalities shown in the video! You can tell because the screen greys out like back in the day. I didn't catch it at first, but I see it now.

2.) Like that the gameplay looks faster. And I like that it looks to play similar to MKvsDC. An odd thing in here too, is that it has this strange MKSM feel to it. That is also something I like about the trailer.

3.) 2vs2!! Did you see Sub-Zero freeze himself, and then disintegrate into thin air?! Ha!

Dislike:

4.) Still don't like that the art style of the whole game doesn't look really "New" at all. That's probably my biggest gripe about the game at this point. Everybody looks kinda...normal, or "safely designed" too, which is what I think it mainly is because the arenas look great, actually.

I mean, the character designs are good, and everybody looks good because of that, but I expected something even more risky. I wanted a more "grounded in reality", weather-beaten sort of take on the characters and their costumes. Yes, something closer to the Vincent Proce take on specifically, his Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Maybe it's in the alternate costumes? idk...

5.) The game doesn't appear to be a continuation from MKA. It's not a sequel. They say the story is gonna get the royal treatment this go round so, I'm just gonna wait and see what's up on this one. C'mon Konquest Mode!

==

Your turn!

I'll probably move this thread when the new forum gets here....

Like:

1. Characters - It seems they've stuck with fan favorites, which is good, despite not showing Scorpion we all know Boon confirmed him and Subz for every game to come.

2. Not a continuation - By the time MK:A came around the story was a mess, we had no idea whose endings were canon, the story was retconning itself into oblivion, sure it was kind of cool, but it was crap, so a reboot was needed.

3. Gameplay - I loved the MK vs DC engine, and this looks like it's going to build upon it. The fighting styles were never very cool to me, one absic fighting style (maybe a weapon style) worked well and made combos much less complicated. Plus pro moves were a great addition and I'm happy to be welcoming them back

4. Game's feel - It does have that MKSM feel, maybe it's the designs or the environments, but I really get the same vibe you do Pred, and I like it! I just hope that UNLIKE MKSM it doesn't become a tangled mess of brutality and retcons

5. No liu Kang - Hate that guy. He'll probably be there, but a guy can dream.

DISLIKE

Music - Not very MK-ish, but Forden's been confirmed to return (a while ago actually) so I'll just wait for more

... - That's about it,t he trailer was pretty solid and it already looks like a good game!
Like:

1. The roster is great so far.

2. This game is said to have the best story mode ever in a fighting game.

3. The fast gameplay.

4. The graphics are great imo.

5. Tag battles are going to be great.

6. The stages are all awesome.

So far, I love everything. I don't hate even one thing I have seen in that trailer. The game looks great already and they still have 9 months to finish it.

Loving the look of alot of the environments, especially the background of the Pit. The volcano filling the sky with smoke and ash, just looks amazing. And in The Dead Pool, the acid looks very good.

I still love the look of Reptile and Sektor. Reptile actually takes his mask off when he spits acid, and Sektor has little jets on his back that he uses to fly up when he teleports, another move i love the style of.

I still have nothing to complain about after watching it around 12 times. For the hell of it though I'll throw a list out there:

>>Pros<<

Characters:
-I love the classic characters, and they are the most beloved by your casual MK fan and gamer, so I am sure that's a plus. Not only that, but all the characters so far seem to look fantastic in their designs, with plenty of detail. Of course it's only gonna get more enhanced and polished as time goes on. I also really like how they changed up their marketing this time around, and instead of going with the usual characters for the reveal(Liu, Scorp, Sub, Sonya etc.), they gave us characters that have large followings, and ones that were left out of MKvsDC(Reptile, Sektor, Mileena, Cage).

Stages:
-These stages look the most detailed and full out of any stages we have been given thus far. Not sure if it's the move to only a 2D area to fight in, but everything just looks so much better. The Dead Pool, The Living Forest, Shang Tsung's Throne, and The Pit all stand out as extremely well crafted and they are very full with a lot of detail as I mentioned before. Usually with the the 3D levels of old, things are very bare and plain, so this is definitely a nice visual change.

-Stage Fatalities. These are brought back due to it being in 2D, and I couldn't be happier. I enjoyed Death Traps, but they don't hold a candle to being able to do a Stage Fatality at the end of the battle as they were meant to be. So damn awesome.

2D:
-I didn't really care that much weither MK was 3D or 2D...because even though I still prefer MK2 and UMK3 if I want actual competitive fighting, I still enjoyed the 3D games as well. However, after playing SFIV, it really made me think 2D is just the way to go for certain fighting games, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat respectively. It's what they were made for, and it's what they play best on. So even though I would have still been cool with another 3D title, this 2.5D is totally the right call IMO and will bring MK's competitive side back for me and my friends.

Theme/Tone:
-Just by the trailer, I could tell all the over the top gags were gonna be toned down or taken out. It just felt like it was meant to be brutal and serious, and I think in this trailer it hinted at that theme pretty well. Sure, it's MK, so there will no doubt be some sort of humor, but I think this time it will only be in controlled circumstances, as well as more subtle. No more fart or puke attacks, but more along the lines of Johnny's cocky tattoo and sun glasses. It's humor that's noticable, without taking away from the over all seriousness of the game. Hopefully it stays that way throughout the game.

Tag Mode:
-This isn't a huge thing to me, but at the same time it's a nice addition. I like the thought of the change in strategy and gameplay this will offer, as well as the ability to play with 3 other friends online.

Brutality:
-I can already tell this game is gonna have some really vicous moves and finishers. Beyond Ed stating it himself that this would have the most gruesome fatalities in any MK game, I think it was apparent just by the very brief sneak peak we got, that the fatalities are gonna look painful and absolutely awesome. Fatalities are usually always nice, but when they go the extra mile to make sure they are more torturous and cringe worthy, that's when I think they are gonna be at their absolute best. So far we have Kung Lao's awesome Testi-split in half fatality, as well as something from Johnny Cage that includes actually seeing the damage internally. Fantastic!

>>Cons<<

Dark/Gritty:
-The ONLY thing I think I can even remotely mention...is that I still wish for it to be a little bit grungy. I think it looks great now, and would be happy if this was the finished product, but for the sake of having something to alter, it would be to add a little bit more dirtiness to some of the environments and characters. I am not one to fool myself into thinking the characters were never colorful, because they were that way from the start, but if they could just tweak it a little bit more I think it'd be perfect. Also, some people don't seem to realize that during the day it's gonna be bright...but in the dark stages it seems to look really good. Just thought I'd mention that because I think people are misjudging it.

That's all I got.

I'm just excited about the gameplay. It looks fast and badass. Add some cool female characters to that and I'm sure it'll be hella fun.

The biggest downer is the look of it all. Dark and gritty my ass. It looks colorful and cartoony. This is the third time they swear on a "dark and gritty" look and come out with the same old cartoony look.

I still think Deception had the best look. That was as close to dark and gritty and MK ever got to.

Ok, so, I finally saw the trailer in HD (very small-size sadly) and I have to say I'm impressed and excited with this game, but not the way I felt when MKDA and MKvsDC were announced, or when we were waiting for MKD news. The graphics do look really good.

I am still disappointed that its probably going to take a while before we know *exactly* what happened during and after MKA, but it has always been my dream to see the first games retold with todays technology, amazing graphics, and with movies and cinematics in a fantastic story mode.

That's one of the reasons I loved MKvsDC so much. It brought some serious life to the characters!! I never thought it would happen, but (hopefully) finally, it looks like we will see everything that happened during Mk1, Mk2, and Mk3 in the form of a movie and cut scenes with new twists, new stories, and classic events that we all love, all of it in amazing cut-scenes.

I have mixed feelings about this.

THE AWESOME

- Great characters: Johnny Cage is back and he damn well deserves it (though I wish he had a sexier haircut)! Great to see Mileena, Sektor, Raiden, and Nightwolf as well.

- The arenas look beautiful and impressive. I adore the visuals and colors in each of them.

- The amazing graphic sequences of Johnny breaking bones and tearing skin. very good quality.

- The amazing graphics of Sub-Zero's ice stab, Reptiles teleport, Reptile's spit, Mileena's roll.

- The super cool and super fun "easter eggs" and bits of "trivia" for the fans (if that's what they are supposed to be) when you see certain characters on the backgrounds (Kira, Li Mei, Kenshi, Shang Tsung, Daegon, Taven, etc).

- Fatalities look violent and wicked.

- The Cinematic and rendered animation looks absolutely amazing!

- Tag Team/Co-op looks fun.

- The combos, special moves, fighting and overall gameplay looks promising and super fun. I personally love the special effects in Cage's green fire balls, Reptile's acid and teleport, and Mileena's roll and sais.

THE BAD:

- I'm truly not that surprised/excited with most of the characters graphics and the visual style. Maybe its because of the video, but the characters do look very cartoony AND kind of stiff.

I expected a more realistic and improved animation in characters. MKvsDC did this very very well (Jax's face, Sonya's hair, general expressions in the characters eyes, mouths, faces, etc), but this one reminds me a bit too much of the not-so-great graphics of MKSM. I certainly hope I'm wrong and that as they reveal more stuff, we get super surprised with amazing/realistic facial animations.

- Most of what we saw isn't new...it doesn't feel new. I ADORE the classic costumes and classic look of the characters, but, I am quite disappointed to see such a normal looking Raiden instead of having him in a fresh and new outfit. Same with the boring Mr. Kahn, Mr. Sub-Zero, and the boring Mr. Kung Lao, who look exactly like they did in other games.

I guess this won't matter as much when we know FOR SURE what this game is: A reboot? A remake? A sequel? Only time will tell. I can understand the choice of making characters exactly like they were before if its a remake, but, come on, even so, we should see new costumes and looks for the characters so the game doesn't feel old and boring.

- I'm kind of worried that I THINK I saw some re-used animations and visuals (Sektor's green stuff? Sub-Zero's ice moves?). I really hope this is not the case.

- Characters look stiff and still feel like robots. It's time they move in a more realistic, fluid, and credible way. I also hope they all have unique individual poses and fighting attacks/styles (no, not talking about the same fighting system of MKDA/MKD, that's done forever).

- Characters look a bit too cartoony. I was hoping/expecting them to look more realistic, human, and to step up from the awesomeness of MKvsDC.

WHAT I'M NOT SO SURE HOW I FEEL ABOUT....YET

- The whole concept.

I'm honestly worried. What is going on with Mortal Kombat? I'm a huge huge HUGE fan of the storyline, so, I hope that they treat it well and with the respect it deserves.

I wanted to see a sequel more than anything (I still hope this is a sequel), a continuation of MKA....but, at the same time, I have to admit I'm super excited about the idea of seeing MK1, MK2, and MK3 storyline retold with todays incredible technology and with superb amazing and fun movie/cinematic sequences.

It has always been my dream to see the storyline of the games told in a vivid super amazing way, and I think we are finally going to see that happen. MKvsDC was the first one to really do something like this with their story mode (though MKSM and the Konquests of MKD and MKA were pretty cool, except MKSM was an insult to the story of the games).

I have to say I'm super excited about this idea, but I'm scared it might be screwed. For the first time ever, we might finally see what really happened during those amazing events of MK1, MK2, and MK3. We will see how these characters interacted with each other when they first met, we might see the "how", the "why" and the "what happened" of many stories and many characters. I am certainly hoping for fresh new ideas and fresh new stories to be added within the original story that we all love and know. Say, a new interesting reason why Kahn captured Sonya and Kano and why he did it. Or for example, have some cool background and details of things we never thought about or that we now know because of the new games.

Tthe potential and level of awesomeness of seeing the story of the first 3 games as if it was a movie, with characters interacting, speaking, and doing awesome things we only read in texts....wow, I can't wait!!!

I just hope its good.

The video made me go wow and be super happy. But at the same time, after watching it more and more, it makes me worried that its probably a bit TOO much of the same old stuff we have seen before. I guess I wouldn't mind this so much if the characters looked new, fresh, original, and distinct from how they have looked in the past. Really, as much as I love most of the characters we saw, none of them made me feel as happy as when I first saw them in MKDA and MKD, because they look the same as before, while in those games they looked completely new, fresh and revamped.

I'm done for now, but, honestly, I will have high hopes for the game. It looks amazing and fun. I just hope they fix what needs to be fixed so it feels new and fresh.

My take is that I like what I saw. I'm skeptical on how smooth online play is going to be with the tag team stuff... But really, there's nothing I saw during this trailer that I disliked. Why? Because there's nothing in the trailer to complain yet. Why complain on things we are still unsure about?

But other than that, this was my two cents.

I am impressed.
Like:
I like the current roster of characters but it eneds more diversity acrosss the games. It's looking to be a reboot given the remakes of classic backgrounds and the MK1-MK3 strong cast so far and all the MK4 and beyond cameos. I'm glad alot of my favourites are back but I do hope this doesn't turn out to be a full on reboot. Hopefully this may turn out to be a sequel where they've started off with the stories of the classic characters first.
I like the fast gameplay. MK4 was a benchmark in the speed of MK fighting, imo and it's never reached anything near it since. Hopefully this game will reproduce that fast paced action. I also hope that we get a game that's been fully playtested and had glitches and all the stuff that plagued MKD and MKA removed.
2 vs 2 kombat looks great. I'm loving the addition of the 'assist' option where your second character comes out to attack. I also love the little attention to detail thery use here for animations. Sub-Zero freezing himself and melting is genius!
I love the classic stages. The remakes all look brilliant and I'm also very impressed with the lighting. I've said it elsewhere but I feel the game is going to be pretty atmospheric. If they use the original soundtrack for these stages or new versions of them, it'll be perfect.
Dislike
The things I don't like too much are the graphics. It looks too much like how MKD and MKA were and I do hope they push the barrier further and polish off the character looks.
I dislike that a good number of the characters have very similar costumes to ones they've had in recent games. Sektor, Reptile and Nightwolf in particular look stunning in their new designs so it would be nice to see the others get the same treatment.
The fact that it's looking to be a reboot is disappointing. As said earlier, the cast needs more diversity across the games. As this is only the first trailer, I'll wait to see who else is revealed. I'm just hoping it's not just going to be MK1-MK3 characters only that are playable. We need this to be a sequel!

I've always believed in one story costume and one definitive costume, so I'll be lenient on the designs for the meantime.

I love Reptile's pants.

Sort of miss Kung Lao's long hair, but it's not really essential. He didn't have long hair in the early games anyway, so I guess it makes sense.

Subzero looks good, but I really want an explanation of why he's wearing parts of the Cryo-armor (at least I think those arm guards were part of the cryo-armor; you guys correct me if I'm wrong).

Cage looks alright. The belt is awesome. The tattoo... still on the fence about that one.

Nightwolf doesn't look bad, but I still wish they had done more. Needs more oomph.

Sektor seems to be based on his MKA alt, which I didn't care for back then. It looks a lot better now, but still overly bulky in places. Then again, his other costume looked too much like Cyrax's main, so I'd rather them error in this direction. If they could combine the mask from his MKA alt with his MKA body features, it would be perfect.

Mileena looks like a stripper with a Mary Tyler Moore haircut. I can dig.

But damn, I fucking love Reptile's pants!

After watching the trailer a few more times the only thing that really disappoints me is the fact the some of the characters look air lifted from other games. They don't look bad but there's definitely a feeling of "seen it before".

Although most other fighting games don't even change the characters look at all from game to game so that kind of doesn't matter.
Like:

Sub Zero, Reptile, Raiden, Shao Kahn, Kung Lao and Sektor are in
Reptile's look
Fast gameplay
"2.5D"
Arenas/Stages
2 vs. 2
Music is ok

Dislike (so far):

Don't care too much about Nightwolf, Mileena and Johnny Cage
Where are the characters' looks revamps?
The idea of story reboot. Just clear for us the Armaggedon mess and give us a NEW story, don't rewrite it
Characters' plastic/rubberish look
Why do all characters look the same height and similar body mass?

+ Characters. Shout out to Mileena first and foremost. Alright, anyways...I LOVE that NetherRealm decided to ring in this new generation with the "obscure"/underrepresented fighters. They need not showcase Scorpion/Sonya/Liu Kang Every. Single. Freaking. Time. I always knew Mileena, Nightwolf, and Kung Lao were show stoppers and this trailer finally proves my point.

+Arenas. The Arenas look more polished than the characters, dont they? lol im not worried though, I'm sure NR (im so glad we dont have to say "Boon and co." or "The MK Team" anymore!) will have their characters lookin like millionaires in 9 months...but as of right now, its the levels that have impressed me the most visual wise. Standouts to me are The Dead Pool and The Bridge. Especially The Bridge - the volcano in the background and the pointy "pillars" that support the bridge look fantastic!

+ The Stage Fatality. I've always enjoyed the stage fatalities/deathtraps in the series. I hope we get a heavy treatment of these a la Deception.

+The Blood Effects. Only a little was shown in the trailer, but the tease looks promising. Notice how Johnny's blood was splattered all over his back and Subby's ice pick? And look at this picture: http://www.mksecrets.net/images/newsarchive/2010/june/image31.jpg
Looks as though fighters will be soaked in blood by the end of the 2nd round of fighting, great!

+/? It Doesn't Look to be a Sequel. I want this to be a reboot; I dont think the Mortal Kombat 2011 story will take place after or before any previous sequel. I believe it is a restart for the franchise. This is the beginning of its own story arc in my opinion. Could be wrong, but we'll see

- The Costumes. For now, it looks as though NR is sticking with that "classic look only" rule that they followed for MKvsDCU. Booooo! I would like to see new, re-imagined or remixed costumes ya know? Kung Lao looks like Armageddon, Raiden looks like the 90s, So does Kahn, Sub-Zero looks like MKvsDCU (I think lol, one of them 3D models at least)...you get my point. I hope they change up the clothing a bit in the next 9 months.

- The Time Era. The characters and levels all look so MK2/3/Trilogy. Ugh. As I mentioned before, I want this to be a reboot. I dont want NetherRealm to ditch the back half of their character inventory. Yeah its not as popular as the first half - but that wont matter in this new reboot. They should condense the ENTIRE character inventory, by picking and choosing the best/key/interesting characters from 1992-2006 (yes MK 2002-2006 did have some) and bring them all into this new, re-imagined, rebooted 2011. About the levels: I want new ones. I dont want to play MK90s again. Im hoping the final level inventory is more new than throwback. That is all for now

I'm not all that impressed, it looks like MK vs DC minus the DC side. And alot of the characters, like Shao Kahn and Raiden, look the same as they did in Shaolin Monks.

My turn.
Likes:
The arenas. They look phenomonal.

The roster so far. Just please add Sindel wink

2.53534633 gameplay

Speedof the gameplay. I always thought MK should be frantic and fast. This is pretty good.

Proper bridges. It's a little thing, but it's great to see the narrow bridge-type arenas return in a proper way. It really is difficult to acheive in a 3D game, but now they can give those arenas the look and feel they deserve.

Concept: If this is what I think it is, which is a combined game of the events and characters of MK1-3, then I kinda like that. I always wanted Boon and company to revisit MK2, using the exact same game but just adding new backgrounds, characters, and gameplay features. Kind of an MK2 plus. This is not that idea, but I like it nonetheless.

Nods to the past: I like how they are incorporating different characters, even for a split second, into the backgrounds of the arenas. This " hiding in plain sight" aspect of the trailer leads me to believe they are going to be throwing a lot more hidden goodies into this game that will make longtime fans smile.

Dislikes:
Music. I really hope it is not the orchestra-sounding crap the past two MKs have had. Please go back to the mood the original scores were able to capture.

Character poses: Everyone is the same so far. I am chalking that up to early development, but unfortunately given their past track record I wouldn't put it past them to give everyone the same freakin' fighting stance/pose.

Same gameplay as MKvsDC? Granted, I thought the gameplay was fun, but if they are going to just rehash the exact same fighting mechanics with no updates or tweeks to it, for me it won't feel like MK, just MKvsDC with MK skin on it.

Mileena: I understand the humor/irony in what they are trying to do with her, but really, does she have to look like SUCH a tramp?

The Pit2: That was one of my favorite pits because it was just different from the others. The character falls from such a height that there doesn't need to be spikes on the ground. In this one, it looks like they added some spikes. You can see them right before Cage hits the bottom.

Graphics: I echo what other posters have said. I think the graphics for the characters themselves should be a little better, especially on next-gen platforms. Arenas are great, but the characters are looking a little bit same ole same ole. And that may be because we have been spoiled throughout the years with drastic changes and redesigns. Other fighting games don't really change character appearances as much as MK does (How long has Ryu been wearing that gi?). Now that there are only minor changes to the characters, we are more likely to notice. I'm not sure. However, Sektor and Reptile seem to be pretty different from any other incarnation, so maybe we will see some other changes down the line.

That's about it. I can't wait till E3.

2D Gameplay! Finally bringing MK back to the glory days.

Tag Team: Looks interesting, but I hope you have an option of playing one on one

Characters: Everyone just got Caged. Cage is back. Nightwolf is in. Sektor, Mileena, Reptile and Kung Lao are all excellent choices as well

Combos: They was neat son

I like how Subby had his own tag. He turned into ice and evaporated. Cool

Stages were cool

.::Dislike::.

Subby gets his ass kicked all around the teaser >_>

Graphics need to be polished

Raiden screamed like a bitch

Kenshi only makes a cameo? Lame

Reptile looks like the Martian Manhunter which is not good in this situation. btw, why wasn't Martian Manhunter in MKDC? He's fucking amazing

.::Overall::.

Loved it

My stupid computer has trouble playing HD clips, but I managed to watch the HI-quality one at IGN and I'm really impressed with the details on Raiden's face. Those little dark spots make his face look so real and HIS left eyebrow (right one on the screen) is pretty cool too, lol.

Anyways, my feelings are still the same... That is:

LOVE:

How the gameplay looks- fast with multiple special moves incorporated into the combos. It has a touch of MKSM vibe to it which is great 'cause gameplay wise MKSM rocked (Kung Lao, you were brilliant!!!).

Like Razor, I actually like that there are "alive colors" on the characters, I don't know, but to me when I see Mileena in pink/purple, it just feels right. Or Johnny Cage's green projectiles, same thing. I think people are a bit too obsessed with that dark and gritty stuff, just turn the color off if you like and you'll have that Hitchcock feel to it, I guess...

Stages are brilliant, especially the Pit, the Living Forest (these two actually look quite dark) and the Dead Pool (awesome lightning effects in this stage).

Subby's ice stab is awesome, Sektor is mega-turbo-super cool (I wasn't sure about the blue eyes at first, but I'm starting to like them now) and Kung Lao's fatality is the absolute highlight of the clip- it just brings a smile on my face.

I like tag team, not so much because of the mode itself, but because it gives us hope that we'll finally be able to play more FIGHTING game modes than just that plain old boring arcade + a bunch of unnecessary mini games (I don't count Konquest as a mini-game, though. Konquest is fine with me.).

I actually like that the costumes aren't drastically changed. I think each character should have one permanent TRADEMARK costume with only minor updates or tweaks from game to game and the alternate costumes are the ones that could be more fresh/something-never-seen-before.

Great to see characters like Nightwolf, Sektor and Kung Lao in the very first trailer while some icons like Scorpion and Kitana were left out, though I'm sure we'll see them pretty soon as well.

Special effects are awesome, Subby rules in this department- ice stab and evaporation. Reptile's coming and going out of sight is pretty cool too. The smoke and the sparks effects behind Sektor's rockets are awesome.

DON'T LIKE:

Johnny Cage's design. Plain shit (sorry fans).

I'm not too fond of Reptile's design either. Like Icebaby said, he looks like a bird, especially his head. And I don't like the hood either and there's not enough difference between his skin color and the clothes, same shade of green for the most part.

Mileena's costume- the colors and the lack of clothes screams like Ivy from SoulCalibur... The costume has too many skin revealed and thus doesn't really protect Mileena's body from getting hurt. Basically, it's not really functional...

The fact that all of the playable characters are from MK1-MK3. Gosh, Shao Kahn again. Again!!! I want newer faces, such as Ashrah, Fujin, Quan Chi, Shinnok, Hotaru, Kenshi...

The music is a bit weak.

The animation of frozen Johnny, it's the same as in Armageddon and MKvsDC, hopefully they'll refresh that.

And the final "don't like": I haven't seen Fujin anywhere. Tsk tsk tsk... I know it's just one trailer, but I have a feeling they'll leave him out once again.

--- --- ---

Overall, I'm still watching the trailer, it's fun, there's no doubt about that and I am excited, but I would have been excited even more if we were shown some post MKT faces too. The characters shown seem to me like they were meant to be in MKvsDC (especially since their look is classic), but never made it in, so they were the easiest to put in the first trailer 'cause they already worked on them for the previous game, at least that's my hunch.

But excited overall, yes.
EDIT: It's not really a "don't like", but more of I'm scared of what that thing Johnny does on Sub-Zero is. Hopefully it's not close combat. That would really suck. Hopefully, it's a brutality or anything but just not close combat.

My first impression after seeing the trailer for the first time I was very disappointed. This was mainly because I was hoping for something completely new. But after watching it a couple of times I come to see that this game really has potential. I’ve always been a huge MK1 and MK2 fan back in the day so why wouldn’t I be happy with a game like this right?

So far the biggest plus for me are the stages. They look really great and it looks like they will work just fine with their 3D design and 2D fighting mechanics. The game will most likely contain most of the MK Trilogy characters. While MK Trilogy had it’s own storyline, this time they will have a good opportunity to retell the story from MK1 to MK3 in one game and maybe tie up some of the loose ends. Actually, don’t be surprised if they have changed the story a bit.

Finally I hope they stay true to the classic game as much as they can but also make it fresh. Make every character more unique with their own fighting style. Add new contend in the form of new special moves, new fatality’s, completely new alternate costumes, etc.

Its still early to judge the game but I’m looking forward to seeing more of it as it develops.

Noww..with the all the adrenaline gone... this feeling and tought remains..

they could have done much more with this reboot idea

I was going for a MK 1 and 2 (beeing the best in the series) but with a new take on the characters in order to offer something new.

I was hoping that they could recreate the feeling of when we first saw MK 1 and MK 2 in the arcades in some way...if they could have done that..they would have nailed it.

But maybe I'm shooting for something that is impossible.

On the other side..seeing Vincent Proce's MK 1 Scorpion for example gave me goosebumps and showed what I mean above.. a new take on the original characters. And, it looks like nostalgia is the idea behind this game .. if so...then that should have been the way.

Dark, gritty...serious. Boon said it himself before and after the last game. These are not exactly the words that come into my mind when I see this trailer. Thankfully the backgrounds show some of these elements. Speaking of which, the backgrounds are looking really really good graphical wise, so that's a big plus. But seeing people (including myself) pointing this as the highlight of the trailer makes wonder if that's a good thing.

Gameplay wise I can't get enuff out of the trailer. Need to see more for better judgment. I can see that it's 2D so thats another big plus (what took you guys so long). I'm hoping for UMK3 gameplay but updated, since gameplay wise that one was the best of the old games (and IMO the whole series). And again..with nostalgia as main idea...I couldn't think of something else.

Graphics look okay, but I would love to see a more realistic look. Could be the engine limits..could be the art style, which I stated above is questionable. But Seeing some pics like this

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/easportsmixedmartialarts/images/0/7/?tag=thumbs_below%3Bthumb;7

Makes me think that it can be better. Now Im no graphics wizkid so correct me if I'm wrong.

On a creative note .. I think they could make a better teaser. I love the beginning where Kahn puts his helmet on (only that part). But what better way to show the world MK is back with a short teaser like (Vincent Proce's)Scorpion standing in a dark setting just after he is being ressurected...and in the end u see his white eyes and he goes in his Original MK 1 Fighting Stance (That everybody loves and remember). Now these are just little toughts that come into my mind....but you know what I'm getting at.

So all together, I'm pretty happy with the positive points.....but it could have been better. Time will tell how my final take is on the final game.
