Endings? FMV or paintings?

posted06/14/2010 11:56 PM (UTC)byVash_15Here's something I was recently thinking about. Which route will they go with the endings? Will they finally give us the FMVs we've so long asked for, or will we again have slides and "paintings"? Personally I think I speak for most of us when I say FMVs are preferred, but there's probably a few people who like the slides. Street Fighter IV is a great thing to look at. Those anime sequences were actually pretty cool and really got me thinking about their stories. And for a game that's boasting about having the best story mode ever in a fighting game, I would think getting you involved is what they aim to do. But I digress, would you rather have slides or FMVs?
There will be just one ending. The story mode will play similar as the one in MK vs DC. just much longer and from MK 1-to the end of Shao Kahns 2nd attempt to rule earthrealm in MK3
there may be an arcade mode but the endings for the over 30 Kharakters will be similar to those in Mk vs DC as well.

I'm not opposed to the painted ending sequences, but I'd prefer FMV.

If there were no story mode I'd want FMVs as endings.
But I've also always loved the artwork and style of the old paintings-and-text endings as an epilogue for each character, and since the whole game's story mode is going to be told in cutscenes already, they can do BOTH.
Basically, the way they did it in MK vs DCU was perfect except an ending should be TWO pictures, not just one.

Opening Sequence: 5min Movie like normal
Arcade Endings: I'm good with the pictures and the narrator. I don't think every character needs a movie ending.
Konquest Ending: 3-5min Movie
Reason I say it like ^this is because I want other content to be there. I want Profiles AND Bios (could be combined). I'd like them to allows us to acquire a digital graphic novel some kind of way. Through DLC, Gamer points, or a special addition purchase somehow. I like the idea of a straight up comic, but they just did that with MkvsDc....

FMV
I'm sick of the (what seems to be0 half-assed, rushed, and poorfly thought of endings that are a couple of lines and a boring picture or two.
But realistically speaking... I agree with ThePredator. But in my dream world, there would be FMV endings for all cases.

What the man above said. That, and for me, the pictures with the narrator just have that nostalgic touch for me, IF the pictures are done to a high quality. Most of the pictures in MKDA-MKD didn't seem well done IMO.

Full motion. But they don't have to be that long really. Paintings are fun but just 3 pictures with a narrator doesn't feel like you get the full story of the characters. I want to see them act it out.

All of that sounds great and would be welcome. However, I would prefer FMV endings. The still images have been done to death now and it'd be nice to have a change.

FMV sequences during story mode.....and mulitple paintings for ending sequences like twisted metal 2. Animated movies could also be interesting.

I have come to like both in a particular manor. and what i would prefer is FMV but id settle for paintings. what I really want is...
FMV bio's, a small narrative to a video showing that characters past. Could show the cyborgs being automated wiht whatever gore, Noobn saibots transformation, Reptiles realm, much we havent seen.

FMVs.... OR ELSE!!!
To me, the gameplay has absolute priority.
They should under no circumstances sacrifice anything that has to do with gameplay just to have cgi cutscenes.
That's not how you make a GAME. Remember, this is a game that you play, not a movie.
My dream story mode, would be a mode where you actually play a lot, a bit of story, but a lot of fighting. Endurance matches, long matches with lots of opponents with one health bar. Ahh the possibilities.

That's an Arcade or Survival Mode, dude. They usually have one of those AND a Story Mode completely separate.

I just stated what I wanted out of the story mode. Mk1 even had endurance matches.
Of course I know what arcade modes and survival modes are. And yes I'd love to get a survival mode as well, but Mk games never had one of those in the main games. Except wii and psp re releases.
There will be just one ending. The story mode will play similar as the one in MK vs DC. just much longer and from MK 1-to the end of Shao Kahns 2nd attempt to rule earthrealm in MK3

Hope not and I vote against it strongly. I actually would like to play the story mode w/o being stuck with one character, or being forced to switch from character to character. I actually want control of the thing. Where I go, who I fight, what parts of the story I uncover at whatever time...no finite end to running around in it, even though the actual progression of the story may be finished...ect
Always feels silly sitting there, "watching a movie" with the actual play time reduced to the equivalent of 2-3min cut-scenes. Let alone that only play time, being exclusive to fighting. I hope it's more like MKSM or MKD's Konquest mode in that respect. I want a whole experience with an ultimate prize....not just a "do this and repeat to get that" type of goal.
