Scorpion and Sub Zero: Expected, but these guys have been done to death. I'm happy that Subby has his slide back but his new ice cube drop is kinda lame.

Liu Kang: I'm happy he's in, but they could have done more with his look. I like his black kung fu outfit from MK4, but slim chance we'll see that again. Either that or they could go authentic Shaolin monk on him and shave his head and put him in some orange duds. The WWF belt and the spiky gauntlets don't really seem to fit his Bruce Lee-modeled style. Also, I'd like to see him become less of a naive goody-two-shoes and more of a battle hardened fighter. Also, I want his moves to be fast, responsive and lethal, like they were in MK2-3. In the last few games they've kinda toned him down and made his moves less effective.

Sonya: I was kind of expecting Kitana to be the first MK female to be announced. Sonya's ok, I'm not a big fan or anything, but it looks like they've gone all out and brought a lot of her old moves back, which should make her a formidable fighter. She actually got a decent look for once, too.

Shang Tsung: I would have been much more pleased to see the MK3 Shang. It looks like they've blended his MK2,3 and DA looks together. Not bad, but when compared to the absolute badass he was in MK3, it pales in comparison. I mean, really, who's afraid of some old guy?

Jax: Don't know much about him yet, but hopefully he's like the MK2-4 versions. Keep the metal arms, lose the spandex. Lose the token black guy comic relief status and make him a badass military mother****** that we can all respect. I shouldn't have to say this but bring back all his old moves like they did with Sonya. Just lose everything from DA+

Kitana: Expected, ho hum. All I can say is make her fast and lethal and she might be worthy of her assassin title. I mean, really, who wants to play as a princess? That's what Super Smash Bros is for. Make her fast and agile and use the old school fans from 2-3, not the corny metal ones from DA and I'll be interested.

Batman: They don't seem to be utilizing Batman to his full badassness. He needs to be more of a tricky yet solid fighter. See here for suggestions on his teleport move . Also, what the hell's up with the Batarangs? Aren't they supposed to black, not white? Also, his costume is too light colored. Make it black or at least a darker shade of grey. As with everyone else, needs to be a lot less stiff.

Superman: Can't complain about Superman. They really went all out and included abilities I didn't even expect like the ice breath and that super-inhaling move. Hell, I expect we owe it to the Man of Steel that everyone has so many darned special moves. Supes saves the day once again! All I can say is give him some better animations and that JKD stance had better not be used on him if they know what's good for them.

Oh, yeah, and his Brutality. The only thing super about that is Super Lame. He's fricking Superman, people! He can uppercut people into the sun, for God's sake! This is the best you could come up with!?!? Shame, shame, shame.

The Flash: I have like, no complaints about The Flash. Everything I've seen of him so far is complete gold. Only marks off would be for repeating Kabal's move from MK3, but oh, well, that was expected. All I can say is, I'm really looking forward to playing as him.

Catwoman: Haven't seen much of her but what I have seen looks stiff and poorly animated. Get it together, people, Catwoman should look like a sexy beast when she moves not some hapless marionette getting strung along by some schmuck. Her costume looks good, but one request: do you think you could just show a LITTLE more cleavage?

Captain Marvel: REALLY wasn't expecting the Captain. Never really knew much about him but he has a lot working against him.

#1, he draws from a nearly identical powerset as Superman. This means the MK team might actually have to use their imagination coming up with some moves for him. This, I GOTTA see.

#2: They can't even use his own name when promoting him. Hopefully, this doesn't mean we'll be treated to the sound of, "Shazam wins" every time he's victorious. I mean, like half the world didn't already think that his name was Shazam, ya gotta go and confuse the other half.

The Joker: Almost didn't think he would make it in there with everybody yapping on about, "The Joker's a lover not a fighter, blah blah blah." Well it looks like pure iconicness trumps that perspective. I guess this means we'll most likely see Lex Luthor as well. But, yeah, I'm loving the Joker's render, absolutely classic. I can only imagine what hairbrained moves they're cooking up with him. One can only hope he has plenty of pencils handy. Ha ha!

The Green Lantern: One of my personally most anticipated characters. Oh, the possibilities! I expect we might see a rehashed version of Ermac's telekinetic slam as well as some of his and Ermac's other moves. What else, though? Giant green hammers? Flyswatters? Hands? We'll just have to wait and see.



Upcoming:



I expect we''ll most definitely be seeing Raiden and Wonder Woman. Next in line would be Lex Luthor and probably Johnny Cage or Kung Lao. Last place is tough. For MK, I would expect another evil(ish) character like Kano, Reptile or Mileena. For DC is even tougher. My first choice would be Martian Manhunter if that darned "Ninja Villain" clue wasn't still floating around. Deathtroke or Ras al Ghul, perhaps.



Hidden

As far as hidden characters, I'd love to see Noob and Lobo make it in. Yes, Mick, they're spiky and black and extreeeeme! We all know you hate the nineties. And, yes, we know that Liu Kang is confirmed, too.

I'm not happy.

I'm waiting on Reptile then I'll be content.

Scorpion and Sub-Zero; fine, I accept that they're always going to show up.
Liu was bound to show up as well.
I like Shang and Kitana, glad they're in.
Jax and Sonya, eh, I'm neither estatic nor pissed they made the cut.
So yeah, the MK roster is alright. Needs a few more villains.

For DC, Superman and Batman were more or less predestined.
Catwoman's alright, though that spot could've gone to a more clear cut evil character like Talia, Scandal, or Shiva (Though I'll admit, none of them are half as well known).
The Joker's a great villain, though again, I would've preferred someone who is more proficient at one-on-one fighting, and two Bat-villains seems a bit much.
Captain Marvel's cool, and I can see them doing different things with his powerset than Supes (Betcha he has Rain's summon lightening move).
I like the Flash, good to see him in.
I like GL, let's hope they do something original with his powers.
So the DC side is good to me, if a little heavy on Bat-villains. Needs Wonder Woman and a few more heavy-hitter villains.

I'm more than happy with the current roster. Raiden and Wonderwoman would set my hyped bar up even more.

Haha finally this thread was much needed. i'm not happy with the roster and i won't be until i hear some Mileena confirmation. ummm its basically obvious that Raiden and Wonder Woman will both make appearances leaving two characters left on each side to be confirmed.

Scorpion- haha my favorite MK character ever, and besides that hes completely essential to any MK game.

Sub-zero- again with the essentialness

Sonya- What can i say BLEH! i would've loved to see another MK game minus this wack female, but we all knew she would be in

Jax- UGHHHHH Jax sucks...and i really dont believe that they should've had him AND Sonya. They are one in the same basically, with their military personas. It should've been one or the other.

Liu Kang- hes gotten really lame and uninteresting over the years, maybe with some MIRACLE they can restore him to his former glory days.

Kitana- not one of my faves but i dont hate her. shes pretty decent with the fans, she does help to progress MILEENA'S story line haha who i do enjoy, and shes definitely more interesting and better than Sonya.

Shang Tsung- i'm really disappointed that he wont be returning with the different transformations but, i'm excited because he is a pretty awesome character haha. i think midway will pack him with a bunch of new surprises.

as far as the 3 remaining characters : Raiden will most definitely be in, without a doubt

Mileena- hopefully because the MK side really does need a good female villain

Reptile- i like him and hes really interesting. also if they bring him in i hope to see him in his ninja form...i never enjoyed the Devolution CRAP.

regarding the DC suckfest, i dont care. Batman is the only thing saving that side from being a complete train wreck. i do have SOME hope in The Flash but beyond that DC's side SUCKS. the joker...haha a COMPLETE JOKE. i think he's cool and what not but what kind of Fighting character is he??? Lets use some common sense. Captain Marvel (i absolutely refuse to call him Sh****) besides the fact that hes gay, wack, and lame....he is nothing but a lamer version of superman. Superman... i never liked him...hes lame. Catwoman...ehhhh she's not complete trash, i guess i can deal. I just wanted to see some cooler females than her and wonder woman. Green Lantern....hmmm i would've been happier if they used him to fill the black quota instead of Jax sorry( no offense to anyone. i am black too). But thats just my take on the roster so far. it sucks. Maybe the final six can change my mind. Regardless of if it does or not i will be buying the game anyways...and i am completely stoked for it.

Many of my MK favorites are in so I'm good there. As far as DC goes bring me Wonder Woman and I'll be all set. I'm praying that MIDWAY will not make her appear manly in any way, shape, or form.

The Joker:
Extremely excited and glad to see him in. Will defiantly be my most OUTPLAYED character online. I have been a big joker fan growing up, and still am today. If it came to a question who was your fav villain and hero of DCU? Martian Manhunter & Joker. Simple as that.

Captain Marvel:
While I admit I'm not the biggest Cap fan in the history. I love the character because he's a boyscout in regards to superman. But he's so much more imo. Being able to appear as a kid or adult when he wants is awesome. Who that is older don't wish to be a kid again? He's the prime example of why that rocks. I really like CM.

Sub-Zero:
Well, while most of the world loves this character. I can't help but to have very strong feelings towards him this time around. He looks a lot better Look & Play wise. He seems like he has a lot more going for him this time around. Defiantly excited to put him to the test.

Catwoman:
Well, there's so much I could say about her. But she's one of the coolest female characters I know, outside Lara Croft. She wears latex leather? What man isn't attracted to woman of that caliber. I've liked this character ever since her appearance was portrayed by Julie Newmar in the old Batman series that I'm sure most of us watched growing up. She developed over the years, and quite well I must say. Will be using her a lot just as well.

That's all I'm excited for out of all the people announced.

To me, I really don't personally care what the roaster is for this game. As long as the two characters that I am looking forward to be in every game are in it, I really don't mind it at all.

Although, I'm not too fond for the fact that Shazam is in the game. He's such an annoying character that was brought to life, I can't really stand him at all. And please to ask me the question, "Do you read comics and actually know who Shazam is?" Beacuase I'll just come back and prove it to you all that I know what I'm talking about. Yeah.

Maybe the MK teams not really that well versed in comics? Stick Figure Aquaman's hook is on the wrong hand and they're calling Captain Marvel "Shazam" as well.

I'm content. They put in my favorite fighter from the series Shang Tsung. Plus he has the triple fireskulls again. So yes, I'm happy. And Quan Chi won't be in the game, a nice little bonus there.

Its ok but I dont think there is enough villains. I wanna see more villains. I wanna see Goro(he would be cool for this game), Quan Chi(unlikely due to the fact Shang doesnt morph), one of the cyborgs. Id rather see reptile, or baraka than have Kahn in the game. I dont care for kahn.
DC needs more Villains as well. But I got the Joker, and thats the one I wanted. I hope he is just as psychotic, and schizophrenic as Ledger's version, but thats a long shot.

Once again, Shazam is NOT Captain Marvel. Shazam is the wizard who gave him his powers. Rip a character and don't know shit about him. He's gonna be one of the best characters in the game once people realize all the cool shit he can do. His finisher will involve frying your ass with the lightning bolt. He's just as strong as Supes, just as fast as the Flash, and just as good of a fighter as WW. How does that suck?

From my point of view....

-Scorpion-
Scorpion is awesome. Scorpion is MK. You can't have MK without him. What does Mk become when you don't have it's signature character?

-Sub-Zero-
Can't have Scorpion without Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero has just as much right to be in the game as his undead counterpart.

-Sonya Blade-
The original female badass. I remember watching an interview from Boon saying that we'd be definitely seeing Sonya in future MK games. And i believed him, and here is Sonya again. Sonya wasn't much of a surprise and i kind of liked Sonya's character. I just want her to contribute more to the storyline. She's never been directed involved, she's always just been apart of instead.

-Shang Tsung-
Shang didn't really matter to me that much. He could have been in the game or he could not have been the game. Either way i don't care. Shang was the original criminal i suppose, the very first enemy. So, i mean, they have to have villians from the MK side. Shang, being the first, was obvious in those aspects.

-Liu Kang-
I never liked Liu Kang, he was so annoying as a character and the whole Chosen One story is little over-used and unoriginal. They shouldn't have centered Mk around him. And they pushed him into the main character spotlight, it was inevitable for him not to be in this game. Plus, he is iconic. I mean gamers should recognize him. So, obvious yet again.

-Jax-
I agree, he should not be in this game. Jax isn't iconic enough and he seems too bland of a character. His story lacks any real depth. He's Sonya's partner, it was wasted space to have him in this game when their are more deserving characters out there with rich storyline. Jax is just one stereotype of a the black man after another. And, im not being racist but Jax got in this game because of the race card. I know it.

-Kitana-
Kitana has an interesting story behind her, one of the more developed ones.When Sonya was confirmed, i knew there was going to be at least one more female and Kitana came to mind first. But there's another female character than i would rather have than Kitana.

-Batman-
Batman was obvious and im extremely happy about his involvement as well. After the Dark Knight, i instantly became a big Batman fan and im now happy he's apart of the game. I want his suit to be darker though. It's MK, it's going to be gritty and dark. You cant allow colors to effect those moods.

-Superman-
Superman was alright. I don't watch the movies and nor have i ever really cared about him that much. But Superman was obvious, who do you think of first when you think of DC?

-Catwoman-
Catwoman is ok, i guess. I don't like her outfit that much but i do appreciate the major boobage she has going on. I prefer the costume in Batman Returns but at least she doesn't remind me of Halle Berry, am i right?

-The Flash-
Actually, i hated Flash and to be realisitic, im only going to buy this game for Mortal Kombat, not DC. So i didn't care that much about who was going to make the DC side. So, Flash was just another character but now that i have seen gameplay footage of him in action, im actually very intrigued by him. In fact, he's going to be one of the first few people i play.

-Shazam-
I won't lie and say i know alot about Shazam but i already can tell he looks too much like Superman. So, his involvement in DC must be big for him to be apart of this game. But i can't take his name seriously. So, i think i will make him my bitch when i play this game.

-The Joker-
Like i said, i love Batman after seeing the Dark Knight. So, the Joker's involvement grew on me. But im not sure how the Joker will fight, he's not much of a fighter. He's more of a schemer, ya know? But in any case, with the joker now in place, i think they should end the fighters coming from Batman on the DC side.

-Green Lantern-
I honestly couldn't care less about Green Lantern. He seemed like a given anyways.


All and all, most of the characters are givens but i do like the majority of the ones selected. Im glad about Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya, Batman, Catwoman, the Flash, and the Joker mostly. Everyone else, wouldn't really matter than much to me if they weren't in it. But there is still one character left that i am waiting to hear announced. If she is, then i will truly be satisifed with the roster. COme on, Mileena!

It makes him pointless. It's like one of those 'Has everyone's shit' characters. Everyone knows how goddamned stupid that is. That's why he shouldn't be in the game.
