It could also mean that we could see Sonya's leg grab BUT new character will have it. So does not mean Sonya is in next Mortal Kombat.

I'll get a lot of vegetables thrown at me for this, but I find her character very boring and bland now. They'll have to do a lot to her character for me to want her to return.

It did sound like Sonya could be returning. Kira should have her own moves if she returns, which I hope she does. And her and Sonya have a little rivalry going on.

It does kinda sound optimistic for us who like Sonya though. I could see them using certain moves on other characters too, so I'm not blind to the fact.

Ehh, I was never a really big fan of Sonya, especially after MK3 when she was toned down. Her specials were taken away from her (where the hell is her classic ring toss and leg grab?) and her design was poor, especially her alternate costume in MK:A. Just my two cents. I could care less if she moved on.

Too bad we didn’t make it clear most people were gravely upset and annoyed about it not being there, same with Cages nut punch and the other two. I hope the capital letters said something.

But yes, that was definitely positive news for Sonya fans, I just cant believe they were so...(insert word here)...to not have it in the game, specially if it WAS there along side another fan fave (the vertical bicycle kicks), its SO annoying.

Kira already disserves to die a most horrible death for not being original, why make it worse? Theres so much potential in the red hair, I remember back then (when the first pic was revealed) when I started to think she was going to be one of my fave characters ever, red hair, evil, brave...but what then, we find out she was another Jarek, a cheap copy of an already existing character, but it was worst, for they made her a copy of 2 original legends. Bad move. And to give her a really powerful trademark move of the character she ripped off....no no.

Like Keith said, Kira needs her own moves. Drop the kiss, it doesn’t suit her, same with the cannonball and even the fire ball. Make her more original and she will rock! She has potential. Even her character in Kobras ending lacked originality (kiss of death again?), but I do admit I liked her ending, made her feel honorable.

They wanted to have Kano's and Sonya's(two rivals) moves put into Kira, since neither of them were going to be in Deception. I guess she had the moves for MK:A too... But regardless of that, she's a great fighter, and a great Black Dragon.

she should return and have the leg grab (only if done more realistically though) and DON'T give it to Kira


I think for her plot they should make Sonya find out that kira was actually the responsible for the death of her partner or someone
and involve Frost in her story to spice it up

This sounds like it could mean just that: She will be seen again in future MK games. Mortal Kombat just isn't Mortal Kombat without sonya. She helped make MK. She was one of the things that made MK1 so great, and obviously a large factor as to why the series has lasted so long.

As for Kira, fuck that goddamn unoriginal ho bag. If she didn't completely rip off sonya, she would have been fine. It would have been good to have a redhead in the MK cast, but it's not good that they have a wannabe redheaded bitch in there. It's bad enough they have chamelion and shujinko using other people's moves.

what about Reiko/Noob with the throwing stars?
what about Smoke/Scorpion and the harpoon?
How about half the characters on Armageddon have teleport moves which Raiden had first? not all characters own moves, seeing how so many characters throughout hte years have the same or similar moves from other characters

Queve thank you for asking the question, its really been bothering me for so Long, although I didn’t like his reply, he seemed a bit clueless about why they removed it and he changed the subject towards her bicycle kick.

I also wish he received the message of how urgent and dire the circumstances for her missing leg grab are and the lack of any original moves making her les appealing. Well the least I can take from it is some sort of assurance that this is not the last we see of her.

Great points concerning Sonya, mabdog! I 100% agree with everything you said about her, and without being too biased, it's all very true! When you think MK, you think of characters like Sub-Zero, Scorpion (naturally), Liu Kang (unfortunately), and definately Sonya - they "made" MK, like you said.

If she had her own moves, she would have been a great character. She has a good design (her ALT is fantastic), a good enough background and story to "start off" as an MK character - all she was really missing was moves.

Changing a subject slightly around a little, bit:

Moves like the Leg Grab, the Vertical Bycicle Kick, and the Energy Rings (The Leg Grab on top of them all) are "owned" by Sonya, and no other character should have them. Having Sonya and Cage have a daughter that "takes over" her image in MK sounds like it could probably work, but the MK Team would have to pay attention and do a lot of things in order to please Sonya fans.

I'm ecstatic about Boon's hint at Sonya's return after Armageddon!!! I was just looking around trying to find some info on how the event went (I unfortunately missed it ) and this thread caught my eye, with great news to back it up!

I do agree, however, that they are gonna have to do some work on Sonya. Yes, giving her trademark moves back is a perfect start, but her storyline is 50% of what makes her. As mentioned above, they definately should include Frost in it - her rivalry with Sonya has a lot of potential, and Frost is a pretty tough #$@! too - it would be a very interesting new addition to both their storylines. Kira could be incorporated in there, too, but I'd like to emphasys of the Dragon clans to be toned down a bit for next-gen, especially its impact on Sonya. She needs to focus on newer things, IMO. Perhaps have Sonya know Kira from a long time ago, and something (I have ideas but I'll leave it open) happened that steered them in opposite directions, and could serve as a catalyst for a rivalry to blow up.

Like I've said 923 times before, Sonya has too much potential, and if explored correctly, her interest factor could double, or even triple!

one thing i've learned from the release of deception and armageddon is that you shouldn't take what boon has to say about the production of a game to heart until the end of development.

I took what Boon said there with a pinch of salt. They could easily give the Leg Grab to someone else. It by no means is an indicator that Sonya will be back. Here's hoping she will be.

Even though that may be true, Most of the fans here will agree that the "Leg Grab" Move belongs to Sonya. That was one of her best moves!!! I mean each character (except for those cheap, lame imitations) has specific moves that we know them for. I mean I bet everyone would have had a fit and a half if Scorpion's Spear move was given to another character. I hope that if they bring back the "Leg Grab" that Sonya will be the one to use it.

P.S. I also would like to see a Sonya/JC hook-up....I mean c'mon already ...get on with it.
