More or less like RE Remake for GameCube/Wii : they tried to stuck with somethings done in classic RE1 old PS 1 version, however, they put new and different elements things like Lisa Trevor plot, Crimson heads, some tweeks in story, changing lots of traditional dialogues, etc ... Initially, being a RE fan, I disliked it, but, later buying the game , exploring, trying to understand, I think Capcom did a good job changing some stuff and making things more modern and different .....

See this new MK story as a movie remake of old ideias : you have the main actors, the support cast , and some others that will have more participation in future sequels ....

The franchise renewing is just starting, is just the beggining of the new MK franchise, and people are already complaining and moaning ..... lol !

I'm very curious as to what they do with Kabal. I'm wondering if they try to stay more true to UMK3 look or if they opt to go for his original design like they did in deception with the trench coat. Personally, I'd like to see it somewhere in between.

I am very curious about the 360 special kontent. I hope its only a timed exclusive though cause if it is solely MK than PS3 deserves it too.

I really don't care about Kratos so that exclusive does not bother me. Im sure one of my buddies with a PS3 will get the game and I cant try him then. After a few rounds I'll likely never care to use him again.


Also, this Red Lady still has me intrigued as Ed hinted at it when he was teasing a character reveal. I think that might be our big secret.

Resident Evil Remake and Mortal Kombat (2011) are totaly different things in terms of remakes.

In Resident Evil Remake, all Capcom did was improve the graphics, KEPT the original storyline, including the characteristics of all the main cast members (Jill, Chris, Rebecca, Wesker, and Barry). They expanded the storyline cut from the original game, while they didn't touch the overall gist of what happened in the original Resident Evil game on Playstation 1.

In MK(2011) Vogel re wrote origins of characters AND the history of MK, thus changing fundamentals of what and who characters are.

John Tobias created by himself(yes only himself) the storyline and characters of MK1- MK4 .This isn't a case of simple time travel. This game is the MK team (Vogel and his crew) rewriting the entire* MK history.

A reboot wasn't neccassy to keep old characters interesting, nor killing characters in the past, to give 2nd rate characters a storyline.

What Mortal Kombat needed was a re launch of the series in a new direction. They did it with the gameplay, but lost it when it came to the storyline, again.

Also, I really believe Hector will show us never-before-seen stuff tomorrow or on Sunday, just like he did on Brazil Game Show earlier this year. Hector will host a closed-doors presentation of the game in the main auditorium of the show (just like BGS) in an event called "Gameworld 2011", and he'll explain eveything about the game, play with fans AND make a Q&A session. I also agree with RazorsEdge701 on the points he made about comparing the old canon to the new canon. Just because there's more "stuff" there to sift through , doesn't make it better than the pre-existing, simplified alternative. More complex doesn't mean higher quality.

Are we to assume that a mountain-sized mound of shit with all the different shitty colors is somehow better than one handful of gold? I think not. Not that I'm comparing the old canon to gold, or the new canon with shit and shitty colors but, that's essentially the point here.

- I haven't read through all the spoilers, and I will not. I peeked at some of the bios and that's it. That's all I could stomach without depreciating my pre-order purchase in my own mind.

But I will say this... a shitty gimmick can come in the form of new technology, beautiful graphics, a LOT more writing, alot of screen-play//cut-scenes, and character interactions (characters talking to eachother). IF the new canon turns out to be shit, then I'm going to call it shit, bro. 100hrs and 1000 chapters will not disguise the stink of shit.



Have you considered the possibility that rebooting this thing requires them to drop a lot of depth off of most of these characters, and then bolster up characters like the five you mentioned? Consequently creating an even playing field for them all? All of them have a chance to be famous, to have depth, and to start from a solid starting point, going forward in all different kinds of directions individually.

I think, according to what you're saying happened, and without reading spoilers... I think they may have done it right. Big maybe until we see more but, yea.

It seems like that's what you'd want to do when you reboot a story. You give the less fortunate characters from the previous canon a strong chance at being liked, and therefor, utilized going forward. Then, you take and strip down the characters that have a lot of depth in the old canon. To a point where the huge fan-following that those characters have enjoyed thus far has to seriously look at other options now, because those options have now become more enticing.

You'd want to start at the bottom, the bare bones of the characters that are well established, and you'd want to create those bare-bones for the characters that didn't previously have it.
