Hey everyone! Holiday rush and computer problems derailed me for a few weeks, but I'm back with a new KOTW!

Welcome to my fragile state of non-existence. I fear the temporal portals of the dimensional space-time continuum have aligned, allowing a traversal of Mortal Kombat analysis through the ages and dimensions of reality. But whatever shall this intrepid journeyman discuss on this most confounding of voyages?

Well, we've gone through Sheeva, Nightwolf, Mileena, Smoke, Shang Tsung, Stryker, Reptile, Sonya's boobs, Sonya Blade, Sektor, Johnny Cage, Baraka, Kabal, Rain, and Cyrax.

Admin Edit: Please be encouraged to direct new replies to this thread.

Today, I bring you our favorite white-skinned, shirtless, shoulder-guard-wearing, supremely muscled, red-tattooed, double-sword wielding, overly violent, bald god killer voiced by a black guy with a deep bass voice...

... no, no. Go back a few more years. Like, 1997...

THERE'S my favorite albino freak.

WHO IS QUAN CHI?
Quan Chi is a demon sorcerer and necromancer from the Netherrealm that used to serve under the fallen god Shinnok, yet had the ulterior motives of aspiring towards god-like power himself.

Though he's better known around these parts as "Troll Chi".

(Rumors suggest he's related to Ed Boon)

Quan Chi could very well be considered MK's most enduring villain. Though he didn't show up until after MK3, he's been involved in the MK story since before the first tournament, guided the events that led to the MK4 and Deadly Alliance era, and was recently just outright retconned into being, not just a little involved, but unmistakeably and unavoidably involved in the events of the original trilogy.

(something that has never bothered fans. Ever.)

I was going to try and do this in an unbiased manner, but, screw it, this is MY Kharacter of the Week thread, so I'll tell you who the hell Quan Chi is to me, whether you wanna hear it or not!

(No, YOU calm down magic talking tiger best friend!)

Quan Chi is my favorite villain in MK history. He's a sick, twisted, dark, depraved, hedonistic, selfish, cowardly, smug, manipulative, disloyal, power-hungry, sadistic, back-stabbing, abusive, corrupt, ruthless, vile, blood-thirsty, maniacal, repulsive, slimy, domineering, misogynistic, cancerous, hateful bastard of no equal.

And I LOVE him for it.

(The thought of putting puppies in a blender makes his nipples hard)

One could argue he's TOO good at what he does, but even after every shadowy maneuver, every devious manipulation, every act of wanton violence and corruption, he's still not held to the same level of villainy as Shao Kahn for some odd reason. Now, I love Kahn as much as the next fan, but Kahn was a simple villain with simple goals and a simple way of approaching things.

Quan Chi's evil schemes make Shao Kahn look like Dr. Evil by comparison.

(That might not be too far from the truth)

So how has Quan Chi won me over? So glad you asked me this!

WHY IS QUAN CHI IN THE SERIES?
Quan Chi made quite an impact when he showed his big bald head around MK: Mythologies. Not only did he out-goth every goth in gaming at the time, he also wore more leather and spikes than an 80's heavy metal frontman.

(Sorry, Rob. Not enough spikes)

Quan Chi debuted in MK: Mythologies as the mastermind behind the game's events... and that also set the stage for his role in all future games (and, strangely, past games) as MK's biggest puppeteer who was pulling the strings of everyone, from Shang Tsung to Sub-Zero to Scorpion to Shao Kahn to Sindel to Li Mei to Drahmin to Shinnok...

One could argue that Quan Chi's current role is to serve as the evil ex machina to Raiden's good ex machina plot devices.

But that's getting ahead of ourselves. In MK: Mythologies, Quan Chi appeared as one of the predominant new villains of the series lore. His role was secondary to the final villain, Shinnok, but something about Quan Chi just made him significantly more memorable, fearsome, and interesting than "main" villain Shinnok.

(Probably didn't help that Shinnok looked like a royal jester...)

Quan Chi held an almost royal position in the bowels of hell and surrounded himself with beautiful assassins he made no secret of mistreating. He was spiteful and violent towards anyone that crossed him, and appeared to be defeated in that game... though most of it was just an elaborate ruse that manipulated Sub-Zero, Shinnok, Scorpion, and Sareena to his own ends, which later extended to Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung and him resurrecting and manipulating Sindel.

(He apparently has something against people whose names begin with the letter 'S')

Quan Chi came roaring back in MK4... more than that, he was the friggin' FACE of MK4.

(Right there. On the cabinet. Looking awesome. Rich Divizio, we salute your bald noggin.)

After MK4, Quan Chi's steady rise to fame hit a peak with him sharing top-billing as the final boss of Deadly Alliance alongside MK1 boss alumni Shang Tsung.

It was at this point that MK had gone two whole games without any sort of "cheap" overpowered boss, and that was two games too many, so Quan Chi's oh-so-threatening boss status was quickly dethroned and Onaga, the Dragon King, was quickly introduced to compensate.

(He seemed like such a natural fit)

Strangely, Quan Chi's meteoric rise of fame and prominence hit a grinding halt right after Deception's intro and he didn't have much to do with Armageddon either. To be fair, nobody knew what was going on with Armageddon, and everyone got shafted by that game... it was an awkward time for everyone.

With nothing else going for him, Quan Chi made cameos in spin-offs like Shaolin Monks and MK vs DC Universe like an over-the-hill TV actor desperate for work.

(did he have no shame?)

But his poor fortunes came to an end with the MK reboot, and suddenly Quan Chi was able to do what he does best.

(upstage every other villain, of course!)

QUAN CHI'S STORY-
Quan Chi's origins remain unknown. We know he hails from the Netherrealm, though how he learned his craft, ascended to power, and hooked up with Shinnok as a partner isn't ever explained.

(That's not what I meant and you know it)

Quan Chi emerged from MK4 as the "victor" of a grand manipulation of all parties involved, though they didn't exactly know it at the time, or even after the fact. He successfully stole Shinnok's amulet, which both served as a key to inter-dimensional portals, a compass to the Dragon King's dormant army, and imbued him with great power.

Well, that WOULD have been a victory had Scorpion not learned that Quan Chi was responsible for killing his entire clan and family. Scorpion did what any reasonable vengeful spirit would do and dragged him to hell.

(Sub-Zero substituted for Justin Long during that scene)

Stuck in the Netherrealm where Scorpion became super strong (and, for reason unknown, Quan Chi did NOT, even though that was totally his home turf AND he had Shinnok's amulet of power AND he gave Scorpion his power in the first place), Quan Chi took several years of beatings before he managed to track down a portal out of the Netherrealm and escape, leaving Scorpion behind to fend off the oni Drahmin and Moloch.

Quan Chi had discovered the Dragon King's mummified army, but seeing as how he had no map or a pen with him to write down the location of the ancient Dragon King language, he did the only logical thing he could think of and tattooed the instructions directly onto his flesh.

(Though how the hell did he expect to read the tattoos on the back of his head?)

He then realized he could get Shang Tsung to help him put souls into the corpses to resurrect and control them.

(But... Quan Chi could ALREADY raise the dead and brainwash them... why did he need Shang Tsung?... and there I go, asking QUESTIONS again.)

They then killed Shao Kahn (but not really) and killed Liu Kang so Shang Tsung, I don't know, would feel good about himself before they moved on to more important things.

("You know, Shang, we could've REALLY caught him off guard if we had launched a surprise attack at him with a hundred invincible undead warriors. Just saying. The look on his face would've been totally priceless.")

And... well, Quan and Shang pretty much proceeded to kick the holy living crap out of every last single thing that breathed with their Deadly Alliance. I mean, all the heroes pretty much got wasted in a massacre so brutal that Sindel went "damn!".

(And then went back in time to one-up them both... on her own)

Quan Chi even personally took delight in turning Kitana into a pretty princess pin-cushion before they took out Raiden. Then Shang Tsung got the power-hungry bug all villains get and turned on Quan Chi, which caused Quan Chi to smack Shang Tsung around like his personal bitch.

(No, not you, Sareena... though he treated you better than NRS ever did)

So, for one brief, shining moment, Quan Chi was the very top of the food chain... until, coincidentally, completely randomly, the Dragon King Onaga decided to make that very moment, at that very instant, literally seconds after the epic war was over that he had no part in, the moment he showed up to reclaim his power and throne.

Raiden, Shang, and Quan Chi all worked together to stop Onaga... and failed hilariously. Because MK is just like Dragon Ball Z, not even three Kamehamehas/fireballs could defeat Cell/Onaga, so Goku/Raiden did the only thing he could think of and spirit bombed/blew up the entire area...

And just like Dragon Ball Z, did it work?

(HA!)

It did "kill" Quan Chi and Shang Tsung though, who went MIA for Deception... but then wound up completely alive again in Armageddon. They never made it clear if they survived somehow, or got resurrected, or were just undead, if Quan Chi could resurrect himself, or if they faked it or what.

(Unlike Hsu Hao. Nobody cared if Hsu Hao was alive again.)

Well, anyway, Armageddon rolled around and everyone killed each other. Quan Chi butchered a few folks but it seemed Shang Tsung got revenge for... um, being fairly defeated after Shang broke their partnership... and defeated Quan Chi. Not that it mattered. Everyone wound up as the main course meal for the vulture buffet.

So hit that magic reboot dongle, NRS!

It's MK reboot time... and out of the entire original cast, Quan Chi was the ONLY character to return to the main roster that wasn't from the first three games. You'd think that would be just fine and dandy, but then you found out he wasn't just there in the background... by Fujin, he was instrumental in nearly every major event that happened during the MK Trilogy era. He was nearly responsible for everything from the very beginning!

(you mean the butler was behind it all?)

We discover Quan Chi was at the first tournament, and was the one responsible for resurrecting Scorpion. We see him present in MK2, having resurrected Sub-Zero as Noob, and partake in the battle against Earthrealm. We see it was Quan Chi that resurrected and brainwashed Sindel, and convinced Shao Kahn to invade Earthrealm, being the very instigator of MK3.

And ultimately, we end the game with all the dead heroes enslaved to Quan Chi's service and in league with Shinnok once more to fully invade both Earthrealm and Outworld, putting him in a position of near absolute power for the forthcoming and inevitable sequel.

("Alas, poor Yorick..." Never say Quan Chi doesn't have a poetic soul)

QUAN CHI'S FUTURE-
I don't think NRS has ANY plans for Quan Chi in the future. I think they're through with him. Say good-bye; his story is done. He's run his course. There's nothing left for him to do.

Quan Chi's definitely going to be back, and he's going to be back front and center and deadlier than ever. And yet, we've seen the events of MK4 before; I seriously doubt we'll see them repeated, and that includes his alliance with Shinnok following the same outcome (or at least in the same manner).

But what I DO know is that Shinnok, while having a clever cameo, is hardly as popular or as brilliantly detestable of a villain as Quan Chi is. I mean, sure Shinnok may be a fallen Elder God and technically be more powerful, but Quan Chi is just far more compelling.

(not just because they're both bald either...)

What I want to see, however, is Quan Chi amidst his "peers". I want to see him delight in the power he has over the fallen heroes, I want to see him with Shinnok, and I wouldn't mind seeing Jakaata and Kia, or even Sareena (if it means she get in a game again) following him around as arm-candy either.

Quan Chi is the most connected MK villain in the entire mythology. He has made enemies of practically every character, yet he endures, either out of brilliance, brutality, or sheer dumb luck and determination. There are so many characters that Quan Chi would bring the emotional core out of, whether they be Sub-Zero, Scorpion, or, gasp of gasps, forever-forgotten Sareena.

I want to see that, because Quan Chi works on a psychological level no amount of visceral violence can surpass. Shao Kahn can tear you apart with his bare hands, Goro can rip your limbs off, and Shang Tsung can suck out your soul, but only Quan Chi can so carefully and meticulously destroy every last single thing you know and love, destroy your family, destroy your mind, destroy your confidence, crush your dreams, burn your future to cinders, and when you have nothing left to live for, kill you... and then resurrect you as a puppet.

It was Quan Chi's black magic that brought about Sindel's resurrection, the murder of the heroes, and the destruction of the Edenian royal line. It was his dark dealings that ensured every loss of an Earthrealm hero bolstered his troop numbers. It was his plan all along to so utterly cause heroes to despair and gods to seek aid in the pits of hell itself.

Say what you will about Quan Chi, whether you're sick of him or not, you can't argue that he's not highly effective at what he does, and what he does is so thoroughly twisted and malicious that it literally makes the fatalities in the game seem like mercy killings.

Quite frankly, I'm excited to see what he does next. I'll only be disappointed if we get another Deception intro on our hands, where he's been built up all game only to be so casually cast aside or written out. I mean, wouldn't it just suck to be one of the most powerful, legendary, and fearsome MK villains and just be killed off without any fanfare?

(yeah, that would just plain suck, right?)

Anyway, Quan Chi's a great character to discuss... do discuss him! Sound off! Do you hate the albino a-hole, or do you adore him for these very reasons? Do you think he's too clever for his own good, or does it fit his personality and serve the story? Are you okay with the retcons or feel he was shoe-horned in at the expense of other characters? Do you want more of him in the next game, or would you prefer him staying in a puppet-master role?

Okay people. Been fun. See you all next KOTW.

Very nice, Garly. ^^
I still think QC's part in the new MK was far too much and took away alot of the mystery about him and what made him such a cool character to begin with, but other than that, I do think he's cool.

Good work. I was worried we wouldn't be seeing any KOTW for a while.

Quan Chi is cool, but it really bugged me how poor Shang got repeatedly thrown under the bus (and pissed on) in story mode.
Rant = That seriously better not have been the last we've seen of Shang. He was killed so unceremoniously that it's astounding that thought it would be fine. Shang has so many enemies that could have killed him in an epic battle...but, no. Shao Kahn absorbed him and his power and funneled him into Sindel. What a load of crap.

Anyways...Suddenly, Quan Chi has powers over all things souls, resurrecting every goddamn person who dies, and pretty much everything else.
I'm surprised they didn't give him pyrokinesis, telekinesis, and cryomancy while they were at it.

I hope he gets killed come MK10, and some other baddy can take the reins for a while (and hopefully Shang will have a much more flattering and satisfying reintroduction later...)

Can't wait till the next KOTW!
Edit:@J-R - Oh. I didn't know that. I just figured only Shang was proficient in those ways. Lo siento, I don't want to derail this topic. ;-p

As for Quan Chi, I like him as a character. I mean I hate the guy, but I think he's quality stuff and appreciate him. My fave Quan was MK4 Quan because of the cool design and impressive moves- remember how big and scary his skull projectile was in MK4 (and it had that cool sound effect to it) and his stomp move was also scarier back then.

As for MK2011, I find him super fun to play with and he seems to be a viable character on the tourney scene as well. His design is OK, though not as impressive as his MK4 design. The alt costume is disappointing as it's too similar to the primary. I don't like his fatalities (I'm aware that the leg beatdown is a fan fave though), but his X-ray is super cool and his win-pose is my favorite overall. I was disappointed with his overexposure in the story mode, but I didn't like the story mode anyway...

Overall, I still like him and want him back for the next game. I used to like him more than Shinnok (because Shinnok was the lamest boss ever in MK4) but ever since Shinnok's fantastic Konquest appearance in MKA, and his gameplay and design update (fantastic alt costume plus the cool amulet staff), I've grown to like Shinnok more. So, in the next game, I want most of the evil impact to come from Shinnok.

Thanks for the great read, looking forward to future KOTWs! smile

Shang got a bio in MKA. It explained that yes, they both did die.

Shang came back because since he sold his soul to Kahn long ago, it naturally went to Kahn when he died, and Kahn put it in a spare Meat body that was lying around the Flesh Pits because, y'know, Megatron just loves having Starscream around for company no matter how many times he tries to stab him in the back.

How Quan came back, they didn't spell out for us, but the game basically says in various other bios that Shinnok resurrected every namebrand character that was in Hell to make the whole plot happen, so there you go.

Yay!
The Kratos Komparison makes me smile-
that was one of the first things I thought of when I found out they would both be in.

While I'm on the bandwagon of hating
just how much prominence QC has now,
I have to diverge and say that I love his gameplay.
Even if he is low-tier, he's fun as hell,
and I think they did an *awesome* job of giving him his own unique style.

His X-Ray is my favorite in the game,
and the leg beat fatality is as awesome as ever.
The Scorpion rip-off is a lame cop-out-
QC has *so much* wasted potential on the Fatality front.
Hell, I'd rather he have his MK4 "Fatality Theft" than one bland copy every time.

His hilarious comments like "woolae!" and "fizay!" are just icing on the cake.

3/5 for character- they should have left him less visible, like before.
5/5 for gameplay- he's my go-to when I just want to have fun.

Some new, very dirty (so fitting for the character lol) technology has been discovered with Quan Chi and he's no longer considered a low-tier character. Shujinkydink and Insuperable are two very good Quan Chi players that have been doing well on the tourney scene. Shujinkydink actually finished 2nd at Canada Cup recently, lost to Justin Wong in the grand finals.

And I agree, he's super fun to play with! smile

i have a question. why didn't quan chi kill kahn. the reason why i'm asking this is because like raiden he froze time so i think he could go back in time. i'm reffering to baraka's ending in mk gold. wherre he stoped time and blew up baraka.

this would make him more godly.

But that would be cheating, right?!

This comparison picture felt very accurate to me; General Zod has always been the most powerful character out there but has hardly gotten screen time due to the cool factor that Lex Luthor possesses. Quan Cheese, however, isn't quite that cool. This sure ain't garbage, Garlador. Keep it up.

As you know, Scorpion was going to have that Fatality until everyone bitched about how he has two sword Fatalities, so they gave it to Quan Chi, in which I'm still pissed about it because it's a shitty Fatality in general. No matter who they gave this fatality to, we still lose.

Quan Chi has been the latest character I learned and I love him! I'm still mad that he does not have the MK4 attire.
The week when the game released, I was going to main him but I did not like the fact that in his Trance move, Quan Chi has a long animation of him waving his arms as the opponent zombie walks to him.

While this will piss off your opponent every time you do it since you both stand there like tards, I cannot for the life of me study Quan Chi because of that. Because the duration his animation was killing me. It was killing the fast pace of the game. So I never bothered learning him.
And the reason for this was because Quan Chi's Trance animation USED to be short until someone found an infinite with that plus Noob Saibot in TAG mode. But many months later, I'm glad that they revert the Trance animation back to how it used to be.

IF I remember right, before the patches, I believe you was able to Trance into Skeleton Boost, and that's patched now. I wish I would had learned Quan Chi back then and had known the things I knew now. So much rape. But again, this was the time where Quan Chi had the long Trance animation, so I wouldn't even bother.

While the duration Trance was bothering me, I used to hate him because his good combo pop up had a weird button input. And I find the combo where he summons a skull to your abs, blows it up and toss you over his shoulders had a weird button input to the point that I can barely do it. But again, many months later, I grew to learn and love all this. My only gripe is that his Skeleton Boost is not safe to do, at least on the CPU, the only way I can find the time to use it is after uppercut and even then it's a risk.

Too bad the online sucks, I would love to try my Quan Chi online.

Every time Quan Chi does the move where he shoots a beam from the ground, I'll shout "KOOL-AID!".

Oh man I loved this week. Quan Chi has always been my favorite bad guy in Mortal Kombat for many of the reasons that you have talked about. I love that know matter how he works with all the characters, he always has his own agenda and no one gets in his way. Such a badass. I am also one of the few people who actually liked how much he hadd showed up in the new game.

One of my favorite things is how much he uses his powers for everything. One thing that my friends and I laugh about is when either Quan Chi wins or loses in the new game he opens a portal to move back into fighting position for a new round. Way to show off and abuse your powers Quan Chi!

I hope that he has huge roles in the future games to come.

Garlador, great to have you back. I thought that we had lost you and were not getting anymore of these. I was like NOOOOOO! Great read, as always. Jax or Kitana for request, but this week was freakin awesome.

One of the most interesting villains in MK...

...too bad NRS felt the need to completely overexpose him in this game. In fact, this game made me so sick of him, I hope he dies in the next game and never comes back.

His fighting style is appropriate for the character with emphasis on sorcery.

That's all I've got for now.

He's always been a favourite character of mine. I'm disappointed with some of his story stuff, but the whole game was disappointing in that aspect and I'm done talking about that.

I've started playing with him a lot more, and he's a lot of fun once you get used to him. I miss his old skull projectile with the screaming sound effect, as well as his old throw move from Deadly Alliance. I'd like to see those return in the next game.

Design wise I would have preferred something new, but I don't dislike his Deadly Alliance costume (Even if it doesn't make sense). I usually stick with his alternate.

I didn't like his voice at first because it was too different from his established awesome voice from previous games, but it's really grown on me. Great evil laugh = best win pose.

I think both he and Kenshi have proven that any post-MK3 character can be fan favourites. NRS just needs to give them the attention.

I second NM on missing the old skull fireball. It looks and sounds so tame now. Even moreso, I miss the way his teleport stomp used to land on the opponent's stomach and he'd just really go at it on them with both feet. He looked much angrier and more brutal than the MK9 version.

But the Trance is a cool move and though I never use it, I like the "skeleton arm comes out of mid-air to grant him power" look of his buff move.

I was disappointed with Quan Chi's appearance in this MK. I am a big continuity advocate, so Quan should not have had his medallion and he should have been in his MK4 attire.

Looking forward to Jade's, Kitana's and Sindel's KOTW.

I must add here that I was a little dissappointed for realizing that NRS didn't utilize Green Lantern's Wall Barrier special move for Quan Chi. We saw him using the Skull Wall in Armageddon's intro scene for one.

Definitely made his presence felt in this game. I'm not going to harp about how he stole Shang Tsung's spot in the limelight this time though. We all know it.

I have a few beefs with him, one of which is the near complete lack of gameplay consistency every time he shows up. It almost feels like he's a different character every time, with what he gains and loses. Weapon theft (understandable) , tapdance and slide lost in MKDA (thankfully in that last case, it was too derivative), popup gained, not to mention the really interesting plethora of moves he had in MK Mythologies when you fought him that we never saw again. Thankfully his moveset this time through is really reminiscent of MK4's, but has the added bonus of moves that seem to really suit his sorcerer's character like stat boosts, mind control and magic bursts. I hope he keeps this stuff.

What bothers me the most about him though is the fact that by and large he's been made out to be this total badass via very selective amnesiac writing. MKDA really set Shang and Quan apart by demonstrating that there were some things each specialized in that the other didn't. Where'd that go?

What did happen to him being weakened by the Netherealm anyway? What was the deal with that? As a free-roaming sorcerer he could come and go where he likes, but being in the Netherealm - where he does of his dealings with Shinnok - supposedly weakens him, and he gets trapped there for a few years..until he finds a convenient portal. Huh?

What can he do? What can he not? What are his powers and limitations? Answer: Whatever the plot requires. It's all been very poorly defined. I understand that he's a mastermind, but at some point you've got to sit down and put a leash on this monster you've created. And if we're due to close the next game's worth of events with MK4's finale, perhaps it's time we found out. Shinnok was supposed to have been Armageddon's secret mastermind, in an effort to have him taken a bit more seriously, but he never got the attention it deserved.

I think MK2011's follow-up might finally do that - or it should, at any rate. It would be far too predictable to have Shinnok get punked yet again. Leave us not forget that this is a millenia-old Elder God who's been around since the dawn of time. With these extra masterminding steps added onto Quan Chi's role in the plot, I'd have a hard time believing Shinnok wouldn't keep a wary eye on his ally. He's good....too good. Of course, it's also predictable to have Shinnok be aware of Quan's true intentions all the time, and take the true medallion for himself, but making a quick sqitch for shock value's par for the current course. It's one I wouldn't mind seeing, to be quite honest.

Quan's at the top of the world, but there's nowhere to go but down, is my feeling. I think it's time they do that and make Shinnok a respectable villain. Maybe they can take the time to remind us that he really looks something like this:

Imagine that, but with today's graphics and the revision overhaul they'd be likely to give him. You want an insane last boss? There it is. Blue move-stealing jackass be damned. Give this thing some decent AI, make it tough but fair, and you've got the boss of all MK bosses, something to make Kahn quake in his flip-flops. He could look like something out of a Doom monster's nightmares. He should, he's the overlord of hell, fer cryin' out loud.

Also, Quan's MK4 costume for the next game, dammit. It's a great look.

I don't think I'm as sick of Quan Chi as most fans out there. Although I do feel he got way too much attention in this game. But regardless I think Quan Chi is my favorite villain in the series mainly because he seems to actual have plans that are actually more complicated then I'm trying to conquer the world. He might be a manipulative bastard but that's what makes him memorable.

I like Quan Chi as a character. His gameplay style is very different and interesting. I haven't quite gotten the feel of him yet (especially since I play it at a friend's house when I get the chance), but I feel like with most of the other characters, they got his gameplay style very nicely.

Story and character-wise, people like PNF have pretty much covered what I would have said. He is such a ubiquitous villain in this game that it defeats the purpose of his character being a subtle, shadowy manipulator that you see here and there yet has an impact. I also feel that his voice, while not bad in itself, doesn't fit the character. For a character like Quan Chi, he should have more of a creepy, slithery voice that almost sounds as if he's disgusted with life itself. Imo, NRS should take a page from both Adoni Maropis and Michael Rogers.

As for Quan Chi's future, he's obviously going to have one. It's not going to be a surprise in the least bit that he'll at least attempt to betray Shinnok and seize power for himself. I count on it.

I'm going to be very disappointed if Shinnok ends up as another victim of Quan Chi's trolling in the next game. Go Lord Shinnok!
