Updated MK11 Aftermath Schedule Teases All Hallow's Eve Skins
Now coming September!

NetherRealm Studios has updated the Summer DLC schedule, bringing forward the next batch of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath skins to the end of September! Things are getting spooky, scary as boys become ice kings, and men become wolves. Check it out:

The All Hallow's Eve skin pack has been brought forward 11 days to be rescheduled for first access starting September 29th! The Halloween costumes will see D'Vorah becoming a creepy nurse, Sub-Zero become a frozen king, and Johnny Cage don his own letters as a teen wolf!

The new skins will be in addition to the recently released Femme Fatale Pack that brought back klassic skins, the vaguely American Independence Day themed Summer Heat Skins, and new Kombat League skins that includes D'Vorah style Kytinn skins for three other fighters.

The All Hallow's Eve designs draw inspiration from recent modern references, paying homage to characters from series like Game of Thrones and Teen Wolf. Last year's Masquerade Skin Pack outfitted Liu Kang, Kitana, and Kabal in more general classic horror designs.

Are the All Hallow's Eve skins tricks or treats? Share your review of the Halloweeny costumes in the comments below and go door to door with all the other topics you find in the Mortal Kombat 11 forum.

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath Femme Fatale Skins Trailer
Klassic skins out now!

The hotly anticipated Femme Fatale Skin Pack is finally here! Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath gets a touch of klassic style in a trailer showcasing the latest downloadable content! Watch:

"Sole Survivor" Kitana, "Outworld Courtier" Jade and "Old Blood" Skarlet take inspiration from designs first included in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Although actually a creation for the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot, Skarlet looks right at home, fulfilling old school arcade rumors that helped to inspire her.

The trio joins this month's Summer Heat Skins in the DLC store, with an All Hallow's Eve pack still to come. The Femme Fatales are available now for Aftermath owners on most platforms, with a slight delay for Nintendo Switch until August 28th. Take a closer look in hi-res official renders supplied by Warner Bros below:

60.7% of MK Online users voted this the most anticipated Summer pack at the time of writing. What do you think of the palette swap throwbacks? Share your thoughts in the comments and check out more in the Mortal Kombat 11 and 2D Kombat Klassics forums!

Ed Boon Polls Fans on Mortal Kombat Finishers
Finish him! Again?

Mortal Kombat 11 is positively flush with finishing options after the addition of Friendships in May, but Ed Boon has polled fans on what they'd hypothetically like to see more of. The results proved surprising in a tight race between returning moves from games past. Read on:

It was almost too close to call right until the end, but come cut-off more than 13,800 Twitter users chose Animality as the finishing move they'd most like to see more of!

The metamorphosing moves have only been featured in versions of Mortal Kombat 3 (through Trilogy), making an obvious choice for fan preference, but they only managed a .2% majority over another single-game phenomenon. Self-inflicted Hara-Kiris were a quirk of competition in Mortal Kombat: Deception, and took second with 34.2% of the poll,

Recently restored Friendships were somewhat unsurprisingly the lowest selected option with 12.8%, while infantilizing Babalities, first introduced in MKII and last seen in Mortal Kombat (2011), earned a respectable 18.6%.

Interestingly, all of the poll options were referenced in a winking inside joke that uses Terminator's visual readout to poke fun at widespread pre-game leaks. The same gag included a list of 'Kombat Pack 2' characters with Mileena, Rain, and others.

Which type of finisher would you most like to see more of? Tell us how you think it could work in the comments below and find & discuss more in the Mortal Kombat 11 forum. Or debate the best in any category you can imagine by entering the Fan Koliseum!

Mod Koms: Fan Creates Mortal Kombat Fall Guys
Woo hoo! Flawless crossver!

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is the online multiplayer sensation taking the world by storm! Its squat mascot characters are ripe for novelty skins -- and one fan has taken it upon themselves to create the perfect Mortal Kombat crossover! Take a closer look:

Fall Guys combines the battle royale format with obstacle courses and mini-games. It's basically Takeshi's Castle meets Minions, resulting in a mean bean machine of rollicking playground fun that even offers a "Flawless Victory" achievement for players who survive a round without toppling over!

The playful nod to MK makes these Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 palette swap skins -- created by Twitter user Salsa -- a natural compliment to the cutesy carnage of competition.

Characters can choose two-tone color palettes and patterns unlocked in Fall Guys, but Salsa envisions a rainbow of Mortal Kombat characters inspired by the klassic design. From top to bottom, left to right, they are: Ermac, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Rain, Noob Saibot, Smoke, Chameleon, and even Tremor!

It's not the first time we've seen someone suggest a mash-up between brutal kombat and kid friendly trends. This is right up there with MK Lego, MK Minecraft, and even the ultra convincing MK Fortnite designs created by Eric Tran!

Fall Guys has just added its first licensed tie-in skin to customization options: Portal 2's P-Body. Could a Mortal Kombat crossover actually eventuate? Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath DLC Teases Femme Fatales
Klassic skin pack coming soon!

The Summer DLC schedule for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath has been updated with a first look tease at the highly anticipated Klassic Femme Fatale Skin Pack! Take a closer look yonder:

Coming August 25th in early access for owners of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath; the Klassic Femme Fatale pack draws retro inspiration from the palette swap designs introduced in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. These klassic skins will be available to Kitana, Jade, and Skarlet!

Skarlet was never actually in any of the original arcade trilogy, but her origins, much like Ermac's, come from a tradition of arcade fan rumors of a fabled red tinted palette swap. She replaces absent fighter Mileena in the traditional UMK3 lineup.

A majority 58.3% of MK Online users voted the Klassic Femme Fatale pack their most anticipated Aftermath DLC skins. 33.3% look forward to the still to-be-revealed Halloween offering of the All Hallow's Eve skins. You can buy the Masquerade Skin Pack now for $5.99. Aftermath packs will also be available for individual purchase.

What do you think now that we've seen the Klassic Femme Fatales? Who do you hope to see for All Hallow's Eve? Leave your thoughts and speculation in the comments below and find more in the Mortal Kombat 11 forum!

NetherRealm Previews Upcoming MK11 Kombat League Skins
Rewards inspired by Reptile & more!

NetherRealm Studios has released a new preview for a variety of skins coming soon to the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath competitive online mode. The unlockable Kombat League rewards include themes inspired by D'Vorah, Kano and more. Take a closer look:

It looks like a Black Dragon event will outfit Johnny Cage, Cassie Cage, and Sindel in lightly armored red and pink gear, while Baraka and Kabal are one with the hive in Kytinn yellow and black -- camouflage inspired by the insectoid D'Vorah. Sure to cause the biggest stir is a green Scorpion skin clearly inspired by missing cult favourite Reptile.

Fans who found Reptile hiding throughout the Mortal Kombat 11 Krypt will have already unlocked Scorpion's green tinted Forest Ninja skin, but this design goes all-in on the Reptile reference, adding exposed scaly Zaterran flesh to green, palette swapped attire inspired by the first Mortal Kombat.

Fans will remember Reptile as the definitive secret character first introduced as a non-playable Scorpion palette swap. He joined an expanded playable roster in Mortal Kombat II, becoming a mainstay of the series until his surprise omission from MK11.

Zaterran Scorpion is pictured with the Kytinn skinned fighters. It's unclear if they will appear in the same Kombat League event, or if there may be a Reptile or Klassic based theme also coming down the line.

WB Interactive Unchanged in WarnerMedia Corporate Shuffle
Internal memo address WBIE status.

The fate of Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment remains the subject of intense speculation since reports that parent company AT&T may be interested in selling, but an internal memo released to WarnerMedia staff has addressed stability amidst a major corporate shuffle.

CEO Jason Kilar sent the e-mail on August 7th, which has also been made available via the corporate press room. It addresses a drastic streamlining of divisions within the company, centered around the elevation of the HBO Max streaming service. This includes passing reference to WB Interactive, which will remain under the purview of WB Chair & CEO Ann Sarnoff. The relevant excerpt appears below:

The Warner Bros. Motion Pictures Group continues to be led by Chairman Toby Emmerich. Warner Bros. Television Studios group continues to be led by Chairman Peter Roth. Warner Bros. Interactive remains part of the Studios and Networks group, along with our Global Brands and Franchises team including DC led by Pam Lifford, and our Kids, Young Adults and Classics business led by Tom Ascheim, all focused on engaging fans with our brands and franchises through games and other interactive experiences.

The restructuring has seen massive layoffs at DC Comics and DC Universe streaming, both directly impacted by the prioritizing of HBO Max. DC Direct in-house merchandising has also suffered significant cutbacks according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.

With the focus of the memo chiefly on HBO Max, few conclusions can be drawn regarding the future of Warner Bros gaming divisions. It is unclear if no news is good news, but business appears to continue as normal for now, with Rocksteady Studios announcing a Suicide Squad game, and NetherRealm Studios continuing to hire for key positions.

Ed Boon is scheduled to appear later this month at the DC FanDome 24-hour virtual fan event, which included Mortal Kombat 11 in a promotional hype trailer. MK11 is releasing new downloadable skins this month. The Injustice series also made a recent return with a new comic book series.

Ed Boon Confirmed for DC FanDome Event
Game developer to appear at virtual event.

It will be a star-studded event when the DC FanDome virtual convention goes live for 24 hours on August 22nd! We spotted Baraka in the teaser trailer, but a new guest list released by DC Comics promises a whole lot of special celebrity guests, including NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon! Take a look:

NetherRealm Studios has established close ties with DC Comics as the team behind a franchise launched with the Injustice: Gods Among Us fighting game. DC also published comics based on Mortal Kombat X, with a subsequent ambitious comics project rumored to have been explored for a time.

Boon's name can be spotted scrolling through at the 6 second mark, confirming the developer's involvement in the massive multimedia celebration. We've isolated a still shot below, just in case you had trouble seeing it:

Boon already joked about rubbing shoulders with Dwayne Johnson in the alphabetical list, quipping to Twitter: "That's right, I'm on a panel with Dwayne Johnson! #NotTrue #AlphabetListing" He may've ruled out a panel with the upcoming live-action Black Adam star, but he hasn't revealed what we should expect from the fan event appearance.

It could be a good time to reveal some upcoming skin packs: The Klassic Femme Fatale Pack will be released just three days after the event, with All Hallow's Eve skins to follow shortly after for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath owners.

Injustice has also just returned with Injustice: Year Zero: a digital-first prequel comic that will reveal the fate of the Justice Society, and the reason for The Joker's infamous attack that drove Superman to establish his Regime. Series writer Tom Taylor is one of the names confirmed in the guest list released to social media. Take a closer look below:

Ed Boon will make his appearance even as rumors of a potential sale of WB Games casts an uncertain future. Mortal Kombat and the Chicago based development studio became part of the Warner Brothers empire -- which also owns DC Comics -- in a 2009 purchase. Microsoft have reportedly expressed interest.

What do you realistically expect to see from Ed Boon at the DC FanDome? What would you like to see? Share your thoughts in the comments below and discuss more from the 24 hour event in the DC Universe Injustice forum.

Mortal Kombat 11 Adds RoboCop Announcer Voice
Peter Weller calls kombat!

Actor Peter Weller brought added authenticity to guest fighter RoboCop by lending his voice and likeness to the immortal movie character. Now you can hear more of his intonations by unlocking the newly added RoboCop Announcer Voice!

Despite being mostly covered in the iconic RoboCop suit, we learned Peter Weller underwent an extensive and illuminating scanning process at NetherRealm Studios. What we didn't realise was that he'd also recorded a complete announcer option for the game you can currently unlock for 1,000 Time Krystals in the Premium Shop!

RoboCop is a featured guest included with Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expansion DLC, perfectly matching up against franchise rival Terminator, who sadly lacks the genuine voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger, despite sharing his likeness from last year's sequel release Terminator: Dark Fate.

Selecting the RoboCop announcer option will find Peter Weller reading the rights of every match with his recognizably emotionless voice. We can only suppose OCP has updated his protocols to include the fighters and routine rituals of kombat! Come quietly to the comments below to share your thoughts. Check out the Mortal Kombat 11 forum for more, or there will be... trouble.

Baraka Spotted in DC FanDome Event Trailer
Baraka makes the big time!

It looks like Baraka has become one of DC Comics' biggest names -- at least according to the DC FanDome trailer. Mortal Kombat 11's toothy Tarkatan made a surprising appearance in the video hyping this month's virtual convention event. Take a closer look:

Blink and you'll miss it! Baraka sharpens his blades around the 18 second mark, appearing on a virtual screen to the right of picture for close to 2 seconds.

Before we get too excited about the unlikely association: DC FanDome has been hyping DC properties in a variety of multimedia platforms. The Baraka featured is the previously released Killer Croc Skin, referencing a well known Batman villain who also had a transition cameo in Injustice 2. We've included a screenshot below:

Injustice has just made its return with the 14-part digital-first Year Zero series to tell the backstory to the Injustice world. Mortal Kombat 11 did not receive a DC Comics tie-in series, but there was at one time another ambitious project in the works at the publisher.

The 24 hour FanDome event takes place -- just a few days before the release of the upcoming Klassic Femme Fatale Skin Pack. Could an MK11 reveal be included? Injustice Returns With Year Zero Comic Series
Digital first prequel series out now!

The world of Injustice: Gods Among Us has made its anticipated return, but it isn't as the latest NetherRealm Studios fighting game. The franchise is back for another go around with a 14-part prequel comic called Injustice: Year Zero. Read on for details:

Writer Tom Taylor has returned for the digital first series that takes place before the conflict of the first Injustice video game. It will be a timely release for those struggling to access print comics during a time of pandemic, but as Taylor told The Hollywood Reporter, it's also an opportunity to tell an escapist story set before the corruption of Superman and the DC heroes.

"I really didn't feel like this was the right time for stories of a dictator Superman. My favorite comics are an escape from the real world, and the real world has more than enough power-hungry men stomping their will on the people. I wanted to write something where my heroes were truly heroic. The only way to do so in the Injustice universe, was to check in before Superman's fall and before Batman and Superman's friendship was broken."

Injustice: Year Zero will tackle some of the most glaring holes in the Injustice premise, including revisiting the reason for The Joker's fateful trip to Metropolis, which ended with the murders of Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, and Superman's unborn son.

The absence of reason behind these events, which set off the Injustice concept by triggering Superman to begin his totalitarian Regime, were a sticking point when MK Online reviewed the opening chapters: "You get a sense that there is - or should be - more to this story than we know. Joker's reasons for being in Metropolis -- a trip that includes the casual, quickly forgotten murder of Superman's pal, Jimmy Olsen -- aren't explained. To think a comic focused on backstory would gloss over this catalytic detail seems like a discredit to the creators involved. Joker may have a reputation for being a wildcard, but his actions are rarely so incongruous or shallow..."

Taylor also aims to answer what happened to the Golden Age heroes of the Justice Society, whose fate was teased in the first game with background cameos, but is yet to be fully divulged.

Injustice: Year Zero cover art features JSA heroes The Green Lantern (Alan Scott), The Flash (Jay Garrick), and Black Canary (Dinah Drake). A future digital cover also reveals Amazing-Man punching Nazi Germany's leader Adolf Hitler in a reference to classic comics of the 1940s. See below:

Introduced retroactively in All-Star Squadron #23 (1983); William Blake Everett was a competitor at the 1936 Olympic Games who was later caught in an explosion in Cyclotron's lab, granting him strange super-powers. Able to absorb the properties of anything he touched, he was deployed by the villainous Ultra-Humanite, before joining up with the WWII allied heroes in the All-Star Squadron to fight he Axis powers, and later join efforts in the American Civil Rights movement.

Doctor Fate was included in the playable Injustice 2 roster, along with a premier skin for The Flash. The modern day daughter of Black Canary was also playable. Retro versions of the Justice Society characters can be seen in the opening panels of Year Zero Chapter One.
