Which one is yours? I talk a lot, might as well, heh.

Blight is my character.

Oh, Blight. Then you've got nothing to worry about, you'll probably be in the finals depending on if any of my top 5 make it :crossfingers:

Since my turn finally came I just wanted to reveal some trivia about my character for those who are interested.

The easter egg I came up with for umbrascitor if somebody was wondering is:

If you open my primary outfit at full size you will notice that on each bead there is an MK god scratched on to it ( the defeated gods being crossed out)

If you look real close you will see that KRUOR (god of blood according to last year's tournament has been crossed out).

Some of you stated that Ekimaru looks like Scorpion I can't really see that..sorry, the fire maybe?

And yes there are some motifs inspired by Akuma (the beads) But other than that I tried to base him of Musashi Myamoto

A legendary swordsman , a true genius and a bit of an arrogant prick. He was the inventor of two sword style and overall the first true rounin badass.

For his secondary outfit I was inspired watching a show called sons of anarchy. Just thought it would be very cool if ekimaru spent a little bit of time on Earth realm making use of clothes that best suit his style..

And just to finish off ,if somebody is willing to tell me how to post an image I will show you the mess of a picture I had to paint over, just because I don't have a scanner at my dorm and because I was too lazy and didn't clean the linework properly .

Group A: Sphere

Out of the two presented here, I stand by my choice that Glacier just doesn't sound all that original. For everyone that says Sphere is just a little to much of a sex symbol, at least its more of an original idea than just Another Ice user. And with some work, she could be a interesting fighter.

Group B: Alloy

My reasoning for this the same as last time the tag team stepped up. I stand by my convictions and set of rules. Well, time and the judges will prove me wrong or right, I suppose.

Group C: Ekimaru

It is about time the Son of Fire got in on the fight. Alone, Ekimaru made it to second place last year, and this year the hang ups I felt kept him from first have been fixed and improved. He has a solid chance to take first place this year.

Group D: Gragtek

I haven't really given my personal notes on the assassin, Suffice to say, I feel this is the true result of taking a little something from your favorite fighters, and trying to make a fan character. Some time it does, some time it doesn't. As he stands now, I don't really think it could, but it has a better chance than an idea that doesn't feel finished. And yes, points for originality with the were-piranhas.

And now, I personally have to know...anyone want to look over Neuros and tell me what I did right? What I did wrong? Ask me how he eats with a metal plate screwed to his face? I implore you, critic and ask away if you have any questions. I could go into a little more depth on your Champion for a trade off, if you like.

I personally love Ameerah. The Sand idea was original, depending on if Eastwind was sent in 1st. Ameerah is in my top 5, number 2. Amazing outfits, I love both.

Group A: Sphere (I dig the primary costume and futuristic story / moves)
Group B: Alloy (seems to fit MK's overall feel a bit better, but it was close)
Group C: Ekimaru (love the idea of a fire god imprisoned in a mortal)
Group D: Maia (I like the sword arm idea and what's done with it)

Thx a lot! Yeah a lot of time went into her design and specials :P Btw she was in my mind since the last tournament but I didn't really have time to develop her so let's see how she does in this one...

You asked for it! Brace yourself for a Full-Kontact Character Beatdown!

VIPEHR

Name: Unsurprisingly, Vipehr is from the Raptor race. Thank you Zaterran culture, for leaving us with such an uncreative naming scheme for your people. When it was just Reptile we could at least assume that Shao Kahn named his little lizard slave the way he would name any other pet. But after Chameleon and, well... Khameleon came along, it became clear that every name in Zaterra is a self-inflicted racial slur.

As for Vipehr, her name would actually look and sound less awkward without the H. "Viper" is strong, snappy, cruel, and devious. She's a real snake, and she'll let you know it when she rips the last moments of your life out of your still-beating heart. Meanwhile "Vipehr" struggles too hard to be unique and unconventional, like the one girl in class who insists that you spell her name "Kathyrinne" with a star over the I. Vipehr's half-hearted rebellion against traditional Raptor naming conventions sounds less like a clever twist on the name, and more like she's trying to affect a vague French accent.

Appearance: Oh, Zaterra. At what point in evolution did you decide that dinosaurs should have hair, and boobs? They're both not only distinctly mammalian traits, but boobs are an exclusively human trait. Just because your Raptors need people masks to hide among humans, doesn't mean they need to evolve all our other features too. You have totally sold out your 70-million-year-old race, and it's a shame.

It's especially bad for Raptor women like Vipehr, who are forced to fit their giant clawed dinosaur feet into high heels for this alternate costume, and wear their lizard hair the same way the other UMK3 girls do. This, combined with the over-sexed traits she obviously learned from Kitana, Mileena, and Jade, makes this poor outcast lizard girl seem desperate to fit in with the "like, totally populehr" girls. But then her scales start shedding and her eye shadow comes off with them, and she's devastatingly embarrassed like a 16 year-old cancer patient whose wig just fell off at the cool-people party.

It would be cool to see a Raptor chick who can break the shackles of MK womanhood and be who she is, like MK9 Reptile can. A woman who can be feminine without sacrificing every bit of her reptilian lineage and culture.

Story: Her story is short, simple, and effective, which is good. Her motivations are almost identical to Khameleon's, which is bad. It's like the entire Raptor race is running around like a Scooby-Doo/Benny Hill chase scene trying to find each other (their sense of smell proving worthless in the process) and Reptile alone, the dullest dicksleeve of the whole bunch, is the only one who has actually found any other purpose in his life.

The ending makes up for this by giving Vipehr a very clever solution. Shao Kahn killed all the Raptors, so if you want them back, you have to dig them out of the Netherrealm. Sure, you'll only get the evil ones who didn't ascend to the Heavens, but these guys will make a better army of vengeance anyway. Well done, Vipehr! But now that you're the Orpheus to their Eurydice, just make sure you don't spoil it all by imprinting them with your human cultural taint.

Gameplay: In looks and personality, Vipehr sadly uses her natural camouflage to blend in with the stereotypes of MK womanhood. But she truly expresses her individuality in her moveset, bringing some innovative tweaks to common special attacks. After noticing how pointless invisibility is when it's so easy to get knocked out of it, Vipehr gives herself a few extra chances. The Gecko Lunge charge-up counterattack is a useful tool unique in the roster, and her Claw Swipes appear to have some juggle potential.

The description of her X-ray is a little unclear as to which hits actually shatter bones and which hits are in-betweens. If every hit breaks something, then a 5-hit X-ray is kind of excessive. Finisher 1 sounds painful, but not very fatal; if Baraka can X-ray his blades through someone's chest, neck, and brain and they can still get up to fight, then it's reasonable to assume that an MK fighter can survive some scraches to the face and chest. Now if her claw swipes were also ripping out ribs, then lungs, then heart, and she finished by pulling off their head or feasting on the carcass -- now that's a Fatality. Something a little more like Finisher 2, which is savage, original, and leaves the victim unquestionably dead.

Personality: Vipehr's human-inspired sense of sexuality is disturbing, but not quite in a good way. Non-human females like Sheeva express themselves differently, according to the standards of their culture. Vipehr's desperate attempt to be a human could be a strong character point if adapting to human society were the focus of her story. But when she shows so much Raptor pride, it's very weird that she doesn't look and act much like a Raptor until it's Fatality time.

Conclusion: Vipehr has a strong showing in the gameplay category; but her motivations, personality, and appearance can use a more original and reptilian approach. Even though MK has established some pretty weird details about Raptors (like the females' hair and boobs) there is still some decent wiggle room to play with these tropes and come up with something truly creative.

Beatdown Lineup: Persephone, Blight, Neuros, Ameerah

Expect this to take a few days to clear up, haha.

The pictures used for Kira are commissioned pieces from other artists. I'd have to double-check on the specific programs used by them if you really must know.

Damnit. I don't have a scanner, or photoshop for that matter. Is photoshop free? If so, I'd like to colour my charcter for KAK8.

Photoshop is very very not free. GIMP, however, is free and it updates regularly with new and improved features.
