Mortal Kombat 11 Towers of Time Meteor Secret Unlocked
Secret Tower discovered!

If you've played enough of Mortal Kombat 11's perpetually updating modes you may've noticed a meteor streaking across the Towers of Time menu. The astral phenomenon has been a subject of speculation for quite some time -- and finally its secrets have been unlocked! Read on for more:

Efforts to solve the mystery of the rarely seen meteor were redoubled when NetherRealm designer Aaron Davis confirmed there was still an undiscovered secret in the game. Based on description this isn't his mid-match mystery, but it will allow you to summon a Hidden Event tower to unlock random Kombat League skins and other rewards!

The discovery was made by prolific data-miner thethiny, who shared his method in a YouTube tutorial [embedded below]. According to his discovery: the meteor will appear every 2 hours at 10 minutes past the hour, subject to time zone.

When it does: you simply input left, up, left, right, left, up, up to unlock the hidden tower.

Eagle-eyed fans corrected thethiny's secret code input, noting that the directional inputs mirror one of Mortal Kombat's most famous codes: the Sega Genesis Blood Mode unlock of ABACABB.

Special thanks to MK Online user Surgir_Da_Sepultura for sharing this item on the forums. Have you successfully summoned the tower? Tell us what you've unlocked in the comments below and join the Mortal Kombat 11 kommunity for more news & discussion!

Mortal Kombat 11 Klassic MK Movie Skin Pack Trailer
They're already here!

Twenty-five years after Mortal Kombat thrilled fans on the big screen: three of its stars are making the jump into video games in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate! Watch the trailer reveal for the Klassic MK Movie Skin Pack right here:

Fan-favourite actors from the 1995 movie are lending their likeness and voice to three new premier skins available now as a stand alone purchase for $5.00! Each skin captures the essence of their cinematic counterpart with designs inspired by the work of Costume Designer Ha Nguyen!

Bridgette Wilson-Sampras doesn't need back-up as "Island Bound" Sonya Blade, Linden Ashby is the real deal as "Hollywood Kombatant" Johnny Cage, and there can be only one Christopher Lambert as the sage "Protector of Earthrealm" Raiden who also appeared in French MK11 commercials.

The legendary cinematic kombatants will find the familiar likeness of Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa waiting for them as Shang Tsung. The beloved theatrical villain already reprised his role for the first Kombat Pack and as the host of The Krypt mode featuring many movie references scattered throughout Shang Tsung's island.

New Art Teases Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Movie Skins
Brilliant! Just brilliant!

Earlier this year the Mortal Kombat movie celebrated its 25th anniversary and it looks like Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will be marking the occasion with new character skins! NetherRealm Studios teased the addition with vanity shots of three of the film's leading characters. Take a look:

Movie-based skins have been a poorly kept secret in the age of data-mining, with in-game code betraying the inclusion of voice acting for Bridgette Wilson-Sampras as Sonya Blade, Linden Ashby as Johnny Cage, and Christopher Lambert as Raiden. Mortal Kombat socials played it coy with teaser art, but Ed Boon put it all into context via Twitter.

Mortal Kombat 11 already featured the likeness of film star Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung in the first downloadable character released from the original Kombat Pack.

Tagawa's voice can be heard guiding and chiding players through The Krypt, and fans eagerly anticipate the expected release of a Shang Tsung announcer pack. There are also rumors of another movie-inspired announcer pack.

Mileena & Rambo Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Render Art
Design spotlight!

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate has arrived with cross-gen krossplay support and a free upgrade for next generation consoles, but the klassics aren't being forgotten! Kombat Pack 2 brings back perennial favourite Mileena and action legend John Rambo! Take a closer look at their modern-retro renderings in official character art:

Mileena's design pays homage to some of her earliest digitized appearances, but adapts the belted accent on solid colour with a new approach. Layered fabrics give texture to an iconic pinkish-violet base, simplifying ideas we saw experimented with in Mortal Kombat X concept art.

The wrapped tunic matches Mortal Kombat 11's more modest aesthetic, and creates what feels like an achievable look for live-action. It will be interesting to see if there is any design confluence with wardrobe worn by Sisi Stringer, who was cast as Mileena last year for the upcoming feature film reboot.

A large, full face mask isn't just a conscientious flourish for our infectious times. The face gear offers full coverage for Mileena's now lipless Tarkatan maw, hiding the assassin's true nature until it's too late! A choppy hairstyle gives Mileena personality, but look closely and you'll notice a model that could very easily pass for Kitana -- a klassic conceit for the half-breed Edenian clone!

Customizable gear options will allow players to emphasize their favourite aspects of Mileena, with base costumes ranging from a helmet Shao Kahn inspired Empress look -- to a scrappy, half-shorn design that plays up her Tarkatan heritage! You can see some of these elements in the Mileena gameplay trailer.

John Rambo boasts the photographic likeness of Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone and is seen here with an iconic design plucked right out of Rambo III.

The character doesn't dress for style, but fans will be able to mix and match various customizable options and recreates looks from the various films. If you prefer a red headband, rest assured it's in there. You'll also be able to pass through town in a military issue jacket or improvised gear right out of First Blood. You can see more in the Rambo gameplay trailer!

Mortal Kombat Producer Forecasts Movie Delays
Pandemic delays reshoots & release.

The long awaited Mortal Kombat theatrical reboot is expected to undergo indeterminate delays as a result of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. Producer Todd Garner commented on COVID-19's impact, which pushed back scheduled reshoots and delayed rumored plans for a teaser trailer. Read on for more info:

Theatrical release of Mortal Kombat was brought forward to January 2021 as of late last year, but according to Garner, will now officially be rescheduled once cinemas have begun staging a wide re-opening to the public.

The threat of peer to peer community transmission of the potentially fatal COVID-19 coronavirus strain has led to theatres closing around the world amid restrictions on public indoor gatherings. Australia, where the film began shooting last year, imposed harsh public lockdown measures back in March, when re-shoots were scheduled to begin, according to the Broken Road Productions producer's tweets.

A wide slate of cinematic tentpoles have faced existential crisis as they fail to find a stable release window. Christopher Nolan's Tenet broke early from the back in August, enduring a modestly successful $350 million box office. The director hopes this won't leave studios gun shy, telling Los Angeles Times, "I am worried that the studios are drawing the wrong conclusions from our release — that rather than looking at where the film has worked well and how that can provide them with much needed revenue, they’re looking at where it hasn’t lived up to pre-COVID expectations and will start using that as an excuse to make exhibition take all the losses from the pandemic instead of getting in the game and adapting — or rebuilding our business, in other words."

Today Warner Bros announced a different strategy for Wonder Woman 1984, which will open domestically in available theatres December 25th, with a simultaneous streaming debut on HBO Max. It will open to international markets December 16th, where HBO Max is not yet available.

The superhero sequel is expected to concede a significant portion of 2017's $821.8 million Wonder Woman box office, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Brothers has remained in dialogue with cinema chain AMC to ensure some lifeline is provided. Director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot urge those who can to see it on the big screen as intended. The multi-platform release may provide a future model available to Mortal Kombat, if successful.

Seres co-creator and NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon recently revealed that he's seen a cut of the film. He spoke to the difficulties facing any theatrical release this year, but had no further clues to offer.

Mortal Kombat is directed by Simon McQuoid, with James Wan on board as producer since 2015. The cast includes The Dark Knight actor Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Tadanobu Asano and Mehcad Brooks as Raiden & Jax, and Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade. Mortal Kombat 11 Cross Generation Krossplay Confirmed
PlayStation & Xbox only!

Mortal Kombat 11 Krossplay will become "Kross Generation" when the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles welcome Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate next week! NetherRealm Studios confirmed the update to online play with a social media post, also addressing confusion caused by a WB Games post. Full story:

Krossplay function was introduced to Mortal Kombat 11 with beta trials last December, allowing players to do battle across the divide of Sony and Microsoft consoles. Casual matches will be retooled November 17th to accommodate players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X & S, and Xbox One!

PC and Nintendo Switch will not be part of the Krossplay update. The developer clarified their ommission after WB Games Latino had implied the third-party ports would be included in the update.

Differences in development staff and technology are one cause that may challenge balanced online play and server maintenance between the more popular competitive platforms, and PC & Switch.

MK11 is free to upgrade if you already own it on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The Xbox Series X & S have officially entered the market, with PS5 set to follow in major markets starting November 12th. You can get Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate for all of the platforms covered, and Google Stadia, starting November 17th!

Kombat Pack 2 will also be available for existing players, adding Mileena, Rain and Rambo! Click their names to check out each gameplay trailer preview and tell us how you'll be playing in the Mortal Kombat 11 forum!

WB Games Latino Promotes Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Crossplay
PC & Nintendo [not] included.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will be free to upgrade to next gen consoles for players who purchase on PlayStation and Xbox, but those aren't the only consoles with crossover appeal. An update by Warner Brothers' Spanish language branch has promoted cross-platform online for the four major platforms! Full story:

WB Games Latino shared a graphic with Xbox, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC represented under a slogan loosely translated to: "Kombat is now all against all". It comes with a tweet that says the console doesn't matter anymore -- cross-platform combat only in Mortal Kombat11 Ultimate.

Update (November 11th): NetherRealm Studios has clarified that Nintendo Switch and PC will not be part of a cross generation Krossplay update. Follow the link for the full story.

The implication brings PC and Nintendo Switch into the cross-play arena, which began online trials in December last year with PS4 and Xbox One. The update doesn't mention PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series specifically, but with the next gen consoles arriving in the coming week clarification is expected.

MK11 Ultimate is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X & S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch,.PC, and Google Stadia beginning November 17th! Check out spotlight gameplay trailers for Kombat Pack 2 characters Mileena, Rain & Rambo.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Mileena Trailer
Let us be a family!

It's a family affair when Mileena returns to the playable roster in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate! The final reveal trailer from Kombat Pack 2 spotlights her new gameplay with viciously deadly results. Take a look:

Mileena is renewing rivalries with Kotal Kahn, D'Vorah, and her genetic pseudo-sibling Kitana in the latest trailer. All the time displaced clone hybrid wants is to bring her sister back to the family with a now villainous mommy Sindel!

Mileena is practising tough love as she reclaims the sai as her trademark weapon and unleashes a combination of new and revised klassic attacks! She's fast and direct, combining stabbing and slashing with aerial teleport kicks and a Tarkatan maw to take a chunk out of her opponents.

Low, medium, and high are all covered with the kind of efficiency that could trigger MKII flashbacks. You won't have to suffer long, though. Her X-Ray takes the super move to ridiculous new levels of violence and sets things up a ball of carnage for a comparatively tame fatality.

WWE Stars Cosplay Mortal Kombat For Halloween
Trick or treat?

We're becoming accustomed to the worlds of WWE and Mortal Kombat sharing a mutual orbit. NetherRealm Studios developed the WWE Immortals game, sent Johnny Cage into the ring, and even invited several wrestlers to the launch of Mortal Kombat 11! It's little wonder then that a couple of WWE stars chose popular kombatants for this year's Halloween costumes! Take a look:

Zelina Vega and NXT's Kayden Carter shared photos of their Halloween attire to social media accounts. Vega, who also entered the Royal Rumble in January dressed like Sindel, kept it in the Edenian royal family with an MK2011 Kitana costume. Carter donned gold and whitened eyes for a spectral look inspired by Scorpion!

They aren't the first wrestlers to dress as Mortal Kombat icons. Former WWE and UFC Women's Champion Ronda Rousey arrived at last year's Elimination Chamber event wearing ring gear inspired by Sonya Blade -- the character she voiced in Mortal Kombat 11!

Wrestler and YouTube gamer Xavier Woods had a custom helmet and hammer made when he attended the MK11 Reveal dressed as Shao Kahn. He was also digitally transformed into Raiden for the WWE Immortals game. WWE legend Triple H also seemed to take inspiration from the Outworld Emperor for his extravagant Wrestlemania XXX entrance!
